hey, mr. rager
Juniper had been back for a couple of months. And she hated every second. She had a pile of unopened letters from her mom growing larger under her bed, not that she cared. She was in no mood to talk to her mom. As she pulled on her sweater, she couldn't help but realize it was her uncle's.
The uncle she was supposed to hate. Her dad's brother. She knew she hated him all her life. But he's given her a home. He was a blood purist, but he gave her a home. He cared about status, but he was home.
And it felt all wrong.
She fingered the thread of the gray sweater that was much to large for her and took in the fading scent of her uncle's calogne. He looked like him, you know. Her dad. Her uncle and her late father shared a very similar face. They were twins. But they couldn't be more different. Her dad had been a free soul, he loved with everything he had. He was a pureblood, but you couldn't tell. Her uncle took his blood status to heart and now June was thrown into a whole new world. She knew her uncle loved her, though. Deep down.
She pulled her legs closer to her chest and opened her school bag next to her.
PROS AND CONS OF BEING A 14 YEAR OLD IN YOUR 2ND YEAR:
( a list made specifically by Juniper Kelly)
PRO: You can always use the excuse "im older than you, shut up"
CON: sometimes you don't wanna admit you're older
PRO: You can do a lot of catch up work to take your mind off of things
CON: turns out it takes a lot of work to take your mind of things
Juniper had been pushing herself harder than ever, despite her promise to her mother that she would fail. On purpose. It's not like she didn't want to be here, because she did. She hated to admit it, but Hogwarts had grown to be home for her. But she didn't want to be here right now. She badly wanted things to go the way they were before. When she was still dating Draven. When she was best friends with Kim. When she still talked to her cousin, Cody. She traced her finger along the book in front of her and swallowed down tears. It was her own fault they were all gone, of course. She had pushed them all away.
In fact, she couldn't help but realize that she had no one left. And it was entirely her fault. She wanted her dad back. She wanted draven back, she wanted kim back, she wanted cody back, she wanted Lin back. But most of all, she wanted things to go back to the way before.
No one was here anymore, and it was her fault. It was her fault. It was all her fault.
She threw the book acoss the room as hard as she could before she even realized. She heard the loud crack of the tile as the book made impact. She usually sat in the corner of the abandoned toilets to avoid other students as she studied, but she had no doubt that a passing by student had heard.
She didn't care. Why should she? For once, she realized she was alone. And it was her fault. She stood up, and looked at herself in the crack mirror. She had dark circles under her eyes, her lips were dry and cracked, and her hair hadn't been brushed in days. But she glanced at her sweater and felt a flash of anger. Suddenly, she was ripping at the loose thread on her sleeve, clawing at it like her life depended on it. "I fucking hate you. I hate you." She didn't know who or what she was talking about. Herself, the sweater, her uncle, or her dad for leaving her.
She just kept clawing.
She didn't know when she started crying, but soon she was letting out ugly and choking sobs. She looked in the mirror as she tore off the sweater and threw it on the ground. She stood, shivering, in her gray worn out shirt, staring into the eyes of a stranger. A stranger who was cold, scared, sad, angry, and alone all at once. She was a stranger because Juniper Kelly did not cry. She never allowed herself to feel, but the person in the mirror was feeling all sorts of things.
She let the tears fall harder as she ran her hands through her hair. She drew her back to the wall and collapsed, hugging her knees to her chest as she sobbed.

hey, mr. rager
Note: juniper doesn't know the pronouns of your character, so in this narrative she uses she and they
@Mahlioz EvethisaweShe didn't know how long she was crying for, she just knew that the tears wouldn't stop coming. She didn't think it was humanely possible for someone to cry this much. She fumbled for her bag through her watery eyes and pulled out her water bottle, gulping down water between sobs. It felt good to cry, even if it was in a disgusting place such as this. She shivered, and pulled her arms to her chest.
It reminded her of a time a few years ago, back in her first year, when things were right. She had a particularly frusterating day, and got a failing grade on a test as a cherry on top. Juniper usually took her frusterations out in forms of very strong bursts of anger, and thats what she had started doing. But her boyfriend at the time, Draven Mirador, had quietly wrapped her in a warm hug. She had tried to pull away and keep ranting and yelling, but eventually she had melted into her arms and cried.
It felt like this, in a stupid, ironic, universe-slapping-you-in-the-face kind of way. Because no one was here to tell her it was ok to feel.
Suddenly, she sat up quickly and her wide eyes darted to the entrance of the bathrooms as it swun open. She didn't know what she looked like, but she knew she was not a pretty crier. She must have looked a mess. She had wet curls stuck to her damp face, dark eye bags, tears everywhere. Her clothes had dirt smudges on them from the gross bathroom and her book was all the way across the room next to a broken tile.
The person in front of her began to speak, and Juniper stared dumbly. In her first year, people knew who she was. When Juniper Kelly was upset, you avoid her. You turn away. You summon a pair of bullet proof armor because she will get aggressive. But this girl didn't turn. She didn't cower. She didn't pretend she was lost and leave, instead they looked right into Juniper's eyes, and a moment of understanding past between them.
The girl walked across the room and found her own corner, and let herself cry as well.
Juniper blinked.
This was... weird. But in a nice way. No one has ever felt comfortable enough to share their grief with her. In a way, she felt she had grown a bit.
June wiped away ugly tears, fished into her bag, and pulled out a small pack of cigarettes. It was almost empty. She had done a good job of staying away from them, with her nicotine gum, but she felt this was a needed moment. She walked across the room without a word and set next to the girl. She offered a weak, tired smile, saying I understand. You can cry in front of me. I am here for you.
She didn't reach out to hug the girl, because she didn't know if it would make her feel better or worse. Instead, with a shaky voice, she said "I'm here if you need to talk." Her own voice was filled with grief. Then she took out a cigarette and striked it against the box, and took a long drag. She let out a sigh. She took the book she had thrown and waved it in the air like a fan, pushing the fumes away from the girl. She held the cigarette out to her, offering her to take a drag. "It helps."
sorry for the short reply

@Mahlioz EvethisaweShe gave the girl an amused look. "alright, fair. I used to be a rule follower too, you know." She took another puff and laughed. It was the reason she smelled faintly of cigarettes, it was so obvious she smoked... her mom just never cared. Of course, her uncle would lose his shit if he found out his neice was addicted to something. Especially a muggle-something.
She glanced sideways at the girl, then huffed. "I can stomp it out, if you'd like. This isn't just my crying space."
"you don't need to be nice and stuff"
She made a weird look. "Hun, this is the bare minimum. I don't own the damn place you know" She said, not unkindly. "Neither of us are leaving, how bout that? We can sit in silence..." She dropped the cigarette and squished it with her shoe. "Or we could talk. My dad would always say shit like that. Oh, communication, letting it out feels better" She shook her head with a faint smile. The whole reason she was crying in the first place.
They sat in silence for a few minutes. She nudged the girl gently. "Hey, seriously. If something's bothering you I'd be happy to listen." She wasn't sure if she was being pushy, but in that moment she sawherself in her fellow broken heart. And she wanted nothing more than to help this person feel better, and maybe she would feel better too.
"Well, if you don't want to talk I can go first." She offered.
