French Anyone? Open Closed

Dawn was sitting at a table in the Library, peacefully completing her History of Magic homework, when a memory popped into her head. Her mother had told her to learn French during her time at Hogwarts. It took several years to learn French, so why not start before First Year was over. She might just be done by the end of Seventh year if she started now. Her cousins lived in France with her French uncle on her mother’s side (her mother’s sister’s divorced husband). All of those cousins, five to be exact, spoke fluent French and often used her unknowingness of French to insult her without her knowing. Quickly scribbling down the last sentence of her homework essay, she got up rolled her homework parchment back up and put her book away. Then, rushing to the Hufflepuff girl’s dorms, she grabbed her French book that her mother had placed in her trunk at the beginning of school and took off again for the library.

Opening up the book to the first lesson she cringed, this’ll be hard, she thought. Silently screaming for help, she pushed through one lesson after another, until she at least knew one word. Then she got into the really confusing stuff. “Oh, I wish that I knew someone here at Hogwarts who knew French, then maybe I wouldn’t be struggling as much,” she intentionally thought aloud. Then whimpering with frustration, she closed the French book and waited for someone to respond to her comment.

As the slytherin spoke, a quiet but excited looking girl sat down at the table, looking down at her book, titled, "From broomsticks to quidditch, a complete flying tutorial."
She had a grin on her face as she opened to the table of contents, and flipped to a chapter at the end of the book. She read a few pages, then realized what the girl had said. She figured she would speak another language, too. She didn't know too much, but despite that, she shyly spoke. "Hola! No entiendo franciesa." How in the world did she know that was french? Eh. She looked back down and continued reading. Hmmm.... What chapter was she on again? Oh yes! The first quidditch chapter. She read through it. So much knowledge! Then, she noticed the look on her face. They must think she's crazy by now. She opened to a different channel and put a serious look on her face. She then realized her "serious" face looked even more crazy. She just kept a straight face and kept reading. Darn it. She thought. Her confidence was even lower than it was when she introduced herself. Ugh! She just kept reading and tried to stay calm.Stay calm.
