To say that he was starved was an underestimation. Remy felt like he had just gone through the desert for weeks without food or water when in reality the only places that he had gone through after waking up were the corridors to get to the great hall. He was never too big on this whole 'manners' thing at all, never had been. Still, today, he was going extra pigsty, slurping loudly on his tea and mixing the sugar in with a spoon as if his not-so-swift hand movements could power the whole of the United Kingdom. If anything, the sound that that was making could wake up the whole of the United Kingdom...

He wasn't in a particular hurry to any place nor was he meeting anyone anytime soon. The reason why he was shoveling everything into his mouth and almost choking at least seven times in such a short period of time was because of his immense, innate need to talk. Remy loved nothing just as much as babbling around, joking and goofing with friends and acquaintances alike. One of his favorite things to see was a smile on another human being's face. It made him feel really good for some reason, seeing others happy was extremely contagious and made him feel all giddy inside too. He found that humor and grinning like a madman was the best medicine to any worries that anyone could have. Some might have called him a simpleton for thinking like that, he wouldn't mind.

Once he was done with his meal, he wasted no time before opening his mouth again and going on with his silly antics that absolutely nobody in this room asked for. "I have to say I was tossing and turning last night in my bed, thinking about something. Is water considered wet?" was all he could blurt out of his mouth in the end, the pinnacle of educated thought.

Mornings at Hogwarts weren't really Fumiko's cup of tea. Mornings, she likes to wake up too. Mornings with people were a different story. Back in her home, she'd wake up dead early to do slow simple things like making tea, read a book, on a balcony, smell that fresh morning air. And she loved it with every fiber of her being and she's probably going to live on a mountain and make friends with the nearest mountain lion.

Add humans in that morning... well... then, you just ruined her mood.

Even when she looked happy with her waffles, cutting it evenly with a knife and fork with proper manners, smiling and giving predictable responses to anyone in the great hall who talked to her, behind that welcoming aura and adorable smile was the dark urge to either apparate herself, or every other living being in the great hall to another universe.

She was a great actor, might as well use it well.

So, seeing some random boy burst into the room like he was being chased by some dark entity certainly woke her up from her morning daze. Seeing the same boy start shoving food into his mouth as if he had never seen food before made Fumiko question if he noticed half of the students staring at him.

Maybe, he was just really hungry you know? Fumiko paid no attention to his awful manners and focused on her own food instead. It's rude to stare, the least she could do is pretend it didn't bother her.

It didn't in the first place anyway. She cared too little for the boy to make a comment.

It was only when the boy opened his mouth that Fumiko wished she just skipped breakfast entirely today. Is water wet? He was tossing and turning over finding out the answer? Why would you even waste your time thinking about that when there are much more pressing matters that can truly keep you up at night.

Her oblivious and dry-humored nature kicked in when some students around her started laughing at what the boy said. Was it a joke? Did he not stay up late thinking if water is wet? It confused her how people would be laughing at this.

She didn't want to be seen rude so she pretended to be confused over what the laughing was about and stared at her waffles again like she was too deep in her own thoughts to hear a word the boy said.

All she can hope now is that her lack of presence works well this morning and that the boy never realized her lack of response.

Some people seemed to be very amused by his age-old questions, laughing whether it was from genuinely thinking that it was funny or just scorning and sneering. Then, there were the people that just did not seem to care too much about talking during breakfast and preferring to focus on the eating part of the whole action. Remy saw moments by the table as a good opportunity to fill up his socializing tank to go on with the day.

He was aware that some kids were taught to eat in silence, which he thought, was absolutely ridiculous! Why keep quiet when you could talk your heart out? Surely there were more benefits to that than keeping quiet. Their whole lessons they were supposed to shut it (not that he adhered to this rule), how could they even resist not opening their mouth again by this table? A total mystery to the extreme extrovert Remy Alto.

The stillness and tranquility of the Hufflepuff girl sitting across him was surprising and it made his heart sting a little. There was this little voice amongst the millions of other ones fighting for dominance that told him to do his best to let her in on the joke. After all, she looked confused enough, staring at her waffles as if they were the world's biggest mystery presented on a plate right before her. At least, that was how he interpreted that look in her eyes. He pondered and wondered, weighing if he should initiate some kind of verbal contact with it. Of course he would! It would have been against his most basic nature to just ignore the girl who was desperately trying to ignore the boy instead.

"I sort of came to the conclusion that it is not wet, but I still need educated opinions to verify my beliefs," he announced proudly as he toyed with his food again, desperately trying to stick his fork through one of the peas rolling on his plate, failing since his eyes were focused on the Hufflepuff girl. "I would have liked to believe that you know what waffles are and how to eat them, but that at sixes and sevens kind of look is telling me that something ain't right," Remy blinked slowly a few times, now fully turning his attention to her.

She had seen this girl a couple of times, be it class or just passing in the corridors. He never really got the chance to talk to her, so this opportunity that had just presented itself to him was a great one indeed. He just hummed with a smile as he added a small chuckle at the end of his notion.

Feeling the boy's stares at her, the only thing she thought about it was ' God, how annoying '. She glanced around her table, praying for someone else to be eating waffles but to no avail. Couldn't he just ask very predictable questions that her current fake self can give predictable answers too? How was she supposed to answer that?
Awkward Shy Mode : Activate
Fumiko gave a small awkward smile and shrugged. "R-rest assured, I'd like to believe in my abilities in identifying whats a waffle and whats not and how to eat them . Umm..t-thank you." Assuming he just had an odd way to ask if someone is alright, she went back to her meal with a newly increased urge to finish it. It was a nice end to any conversation that might follow, so she silently prayed to keep it that way.

She hated pretending to stutter but she liked to think that chatty people will often avoid shy ones because of their lack of response.

Pleading with all her heart that this boy would take no interest in a ' shy ' student like her, she went back to her meal. Occasionally thinking back to this question of whether water is wet. Still, utterly confused on why such a trivial question was funny.

She decided to look at the boy properly, trying to remember who he is.

Slytherin, annoyingly tall, and a very punchable face. Hmm...yes doesn't ring a bell. Observing other people that had no use for her wasn't really a ' Fumiko ' thing to do. Were they in the same class? He has the height and confidence of 3rd years and above so he couldn't be a 1st year. A 1st year with an urge to prove himself , perhaps. Why would he be talking to her though? Did her lack of reaction to his joke offended him that much?

For some reason, her naturally blunt mouth said :

" I'm sorry... I just ...d-don't really get the joke ". Adding a faint sheepish smile. Maybe a part of her wanted to understand what made it so funny. She was aware of how dry her humour could be but she didn't wan't to stick to it forever! Maybe, she should just give the punchable guy a chance to try to make her understand.

To appear less rude, she used all her strength to place her eating utensils down, giving her full attention to the punchable boy for a few seconds.

Fumiko couldn't give two cats at what the boy's response was. Just slightly intrigued if he could impress her.
