Duelling Beta Test Match 10 – Luna vs. Ami

Luna noticed that her opponent nearly finished with removing the blindfold. Well, luckily she hadn't finished with removing it before the Prefect picked up her wand. But this also meant she had to walk faster but not run.

It might sound like a silly reason, but it was clearly not impossible. It would be very embarrassing if she accidentally fell down in a duel. But more than that, it also meant she would give the Hufflepuff an opportunity to attack her, and she wouldn't do that.

Now, what she needed to focus in was picking the wand up. Without it, she couldn't do anything. Well, she could dodge the spells, but she couldn't dodge forever, could she?

Duelling Beta Test Match 10 – Luna vs. Ami
Ami sighed with relief as her sense of sight flooded back into her, blinking slightly as the not-so-harsh light of the room replaced the black cover of the blindfold. Now, she locked her gaze onto Luna, determined to get this over with as soon as possible- she was not going to let her get the upper hand in this duel. She had already failed miserably at her last duel, and she knew firsthand just how destructive fire could be.

Very well. Ironically, she supposed, she would employ the searing heat of fire as her weapon. With a deep breath, she cast, "Incendio duo!" Go big or go home, right?

The round

And there the first offensive spell was cast by Ami. However, it seemed her timing was unlucky as just as she cast her spell, Luna bent down to pick up her wand and the spell went wide over her back. This time, Zahid did not need to cast a shield to block the spell it went high enough to hit the wall quite a bit over the head of the students. Zahid sent an extinguo where it impacted to make sure the wall wouldn’t start burning instead. It made for some nice scorch marks.

However, he didn’t have time to venerate the marks; he had a duel to oversee and so he turned back to the duellists. They were both standing again, ready to try anew.

Huh. The corners of Ami's lips turned downward as she frowned at her wand, then at Luna. Goddammit... So her spell had missed. That was annoying, to say the very least. Why on earth did she have to miss? With an impatient growl, she lifted her arm once more, wracking her brain for a spell to cast. Come on, come on, come on... She couldn't do expelliarmus or incendio duo again, that was quite unoriginal. Thinking of a spell (finally), she flicked the tip of her wand with determination, bellowing loudly, "Flipendo!" If this didn't work, she had a bad feeling that she would be totally screwed.

Duelling Beta Test Match 10 – Luna vs. Ami
The lavender-haired girl stood up after picking her wand, didn't show any emotion on her face. That was lucky, but she knew lucky wouldn't save her all the time. She was proud, but she also wasn't. Accidentally let her guard down, how could she be proud of that? If she was unlucky, the Slytherin Prefect didn't doubt that she would be burned.

Instead of rambling about stuff, Luna realized that she should focus on the duel now though. Her appointment was drawing her wand again. Now, she shouldn't use a counterspell anymore, should she? Luna held her wand tight and started drawing the hand movement of the spell she was going to cast. "Incendio Duo."

She knew that girl had just cast this one, but then what? She could use whatever spells she wanted after all. Also, she kind of wanted to use it for a long time...

The round

Now the action began! Both duellists had now switched to the offensive. Zahid observed as this time as the two girls cast their spells both of those spells hit true. Ami’s Flipendo hit Luna in the chest with enough force to knock her back a step or two, not enough to knock her down but enough to stagger her quite a bit.

The Fire-Making Spell hit just as true and Luna must have put some power behind it as a part of Ami’s robes burst into flame. He had to admit, the light effect the flames had on Ami’s hair was quite striking. (The hair was not on fire but it almost looked like it was.) Nevertheless, both of those hits must have hurt and he was somewhat glad that he was not one of the ones duelling.

That spell didn't really hurt her, but it succeeded with making the lavendered-hair girl felt uncomfortable. Though, her skill worked. The spell hit that girl, and now she was burned. It looked pretty hurting, she was glad that the person who was burned like this was not her.

Now, there was a high chance that this girl would try stopping the fire, she wondered if the Hufflepuff could make it? Whatever. She was not sure if this girl would ignore the flames and kept attacking her or not, she wouldn't let her guard down.

Which spell should she use now? A counter one or an attack one? Maybe... "Verdimillious." If this succeeded, she would have a higher chance to attack this girl.

Frick, frick, frick. This was not how it was supposed to go. Closing her eyes tightly, her breathing shallowed out as panic overtook her, the increasingly familiar feeling of searing heat crawling across her skin enveloping her body. Tears leaked out the corners of her eyes as her chest rose and fell rapidly, her body freezing up as she tried to keep herself calm.

Hah, calm? She was never calm.

She tried to remember what to do- could she stop, drop, and roll? She had tried that when Eris had set her on fire, but it hadn't worked... Scott had told her to cast extinguo, except she wasn't the best when it came to spells she had never tried before. Alright. Elementary school teachings, here we come.

The round

Zahid watched as Ami suddenly dropped to the floor –for a moment he thought she’d fainted – and rolled over on the floor to suffocate the flames. Clever move, that. On the other hand, her preoccupation with with the suffocation of the flames made her an easy target for Luna’s next spell and the exploding green sparks showered her as she got back up, leaving her partially blinded trying to blink the bright spots away.

The further this duel progressed the more it became clear that these two duellists were nothing like the other two whose duel he’d been responsible for, and it was really quite interesting to see how different students approached duels.

Duelling Beta Test Match 10 – Luna vs. Ami
With a heavy sigh of relief, Ami felt a wave a security wash over her. Of course, she disliked being slightly fried, but she was alive. Her hair hadn't been burnt again, and she figured that her skin was nowhere near as burnt as it had been in the past. She knew that she had barely escaped certain doom, and she really didn't want to have to face fire again.

With a frown, she blinked rapidly against all the sparks flying in her face- what the heck, she couldn't see. Well, obviously, that was the point of the spell, but still. Super annoying, and not her favorite thing in the world. Readying her wand, she pointed it in Luna's general direction. "Incendio!"
