Unexpected witness
18th Oct, 12.00 lunch break
Sabrina loved water. Back at home, she used to swim everyday after school. So when she learned that swimming in the lake was forbidden, she was devistated.
She tried finding any alternatves. Maybe there was a pool somewhere in the school, or a pond on the grounds. But aside from the prefects bathroom, there was nothing even remotly close to a body of water.
After a while, she got desperate, and so today, after morning classes, when all of the other students made their way to the great hall, her own steps lead her in the opposite direction.
During lunch time, there weren't many professors or prefects on patrols, so it was easy enough to slip into the courtyard unnoticed.
Taking a deep breath, she forced herself to look ahead, keeping her stride steady, not glancing back over her shoulder, no matter how much she was tempted to do just that.
There was no reason to be nervous. She was going to the lake, she wasn't doing anything against the rules. Yet.
Once there, she pulled out her towel- that had been hidden in her bag- ready to undress, already wearing her swimsuit under the robes.
She planned this well, knew how long it took to walk to the lake and back, made excuses to her friends as to why she'd skip the meal - doing so a few times before, for it to not seem out of place - and even practiced a spell to blow her hair out.
What she didn't plan for was to see another girl sitting there in the grass.
Her breath caught in her throat. She tried to silently backway, but tripped over a stone, falling to her butt. Crap.
Quickly, she shoved the towel under her robes, managing to hide it before the other girl noticed. Cleaning her throat, she attempted a smile, her mind searching for any convincing half-thruths.
"H-hi! Sorry, I didn't mean to disturb, I-.. I didn't expect anyone to be here"

Unexpected witness
Her smile, even tho still a little strained, grew more genuine as the girl spoke, a wave of relief coming over her. The Griffindor gal was trying to lighten the mood, not suspiciously squinting at her as she'd expacted her to - even tho her eyes did briefly wonder down to the towel she tried to hide in vain - which Sabrina took as a win.
"Oh, that's good. Guess we both spooked each other a bit, ey? Talk about great first impressions."
She let out a breathless chuckle, feeling some of the tension leave her body with it. She pushed herself up on her feet again, shoving her towel back in her bag as she did. She felt a need to groan as a sound of crumpling parchment hit her ears, resisting it.
Instead, she made her way to the girl still crouching down beside the calm, dark lake. Her gaze glided over the unbroken surface of it, lingering on it for a bit longer before her eyes settled back on the other girl, standing now in close proximity of her.
"Anyway, hi! I am Sabrina, Sabrina Lyons, Brie for short!" She gave her usual introduction, slightly bending in her knees as she offered the girl her hand.
"A first year Ravenclaw. Do you go here often?" She inquired, starightening again, eyes briefly wondering to the water again.
That wasn't the question she wanted to ask, not really. She herself was here often. And according to the fact that this is her first time seeing the girl here, she suspects that the answer is no
The other option was that they miraculously missed each other everytime, which she really doubts.
What she truly wanted to know was why this girl was here, and especially so early after morning classes. It was around 12.15, so she must've gone here first thing after them.
It was frustrating, really. Not that she blamed the girl for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, or had any bitter feelings towards her, but still. She was really looking forward to the swim. But oh well. Maybe some other time. Definitely some other time.
