I'm Your Huckleberry pet

If there was anything that Boniface was guilty of being, it was being a fan of muggle movies. Yes, Boniface was quite into those. Perhaps for the sheer fact that he was born to a muggle family; a bloodline that possessed no magical heritage as far back as anyone could remember. And so, naturally, Boniface grew up with his eyes glued to a screen. And so in the year of 1993, when the amazing movie known as Tombstone came out, Boniface had quite happily gone to see it. This was just a few years before he knew that he was a wizard.

None of this is relevant to what is happening. Everything about his past and his love for western films have nothing to do with anything. That is, unless, you recognize the phrases in which one might hear slip beyond his tongue and lips, making their way into the world. But otherwise, on any given day, it would bore people to death if he sat down to talk about trivial things such as muggle cinema. And, in fact, that is something that the purebloods would let go right over their heads.

So he remained silent.

The point of today was getting a pet. Boniface had not had a pet since he was a wee lad. When he attended Hogwarts, Boniface was in possession of a nice cat, though he left her back at home with his mother and father. They were getting old, and could no longer take care of dogs. However, he knew that they had a love for pets, so he left the old Sassafrass at home in Fort Augustus.

Now, it was time to start anew. New job. New life. New people. New pet. It was all a part of the big plan. It was completely ineffable that he should start new and rebuild. He was back where he left off in any case, wasn't he? So as Boniface entered the shop, hands stuffed in his long, navy blue trench coat, he sent a nod to the person in which he could assume to be the shopkeeper. "Latha math," He said, sending the man a polite smile.

The man set his copy of the latest issue of the Daily Prophet down, looking over at the Scot. "Anything I can help you find?" He asked in a lazy tone, almost as if he didn't care too much. Boniface pitied those who could not love their job. Of course, he had always been lucky. Plants were his forte, and no matter what he did, he was always surrounded by them.

Turning his attention away from the man, he informed him, "Just looking around." And went on about his day. He thought that he might have heard a grunt or something of the like, but he paid no attention to that. He did not have time for such foolishness. He was in search of a new companion. Someone worthy. The worthiest companion would always be his beloved, furry, devilish beast, Sassafrass. But there was always room in his heart for two.

He made his way around the store, eyeing all the pets that they had to offer. Rat? No. Toad? Perhaps. Cat? Already has one. Pygmy Puff? ...Weird. But what about an owl? Very noble. Very regal. Boniface could settle for an owl. His mind flashed back to the toads, and how those would be a great fit for his environment. Perhaps they would really enjoy the plants. But he could find a wild toad at any time of day if he wished. He already knew where to look. Adopting a wild toad would be no problem for him. But at what point would he ever be able to take on a wild owl? Never. He cared for plants, not tamed beasts.

So it was settled. Boniface would get an owl. Well, then there was the problem of deciding which one. There was the Indian Eagle Owl, who looked displeased with everything. Perhaps not that one. And the Great Horned Owl was almost equally as frightening. Boniface needed someone cheerful. A lot of the owls that were whiter in color looked happy. However, there was one that stuck out most of all. Once that caught his eye in a way that others did not. It was fuzzy beyond belief and was the closest definition to "adorable" that the man could conjure. The Eastern Screech Owl.

"Halò," Boniface started, bending down to look in the cage. The shop owner perked up.

"That one has been here for a while. No one has picked the little guy yet." He informed Boniface. A pout formed across the Scot's face as he eyed the bird.

He smiled at his new friend. "I'm your huckleberry," He informed him, not realizing what he had even said. Upon realization, the perfect name for the bird came to mind. Perhaps it was fate, as none of this was ever meant to happen to begin with. Smiling, Boniface drummed his fingers on the cage, nodding. "I'll take him."
