Closed Surprise Birthday Open

Jess meandered down the hallway, unsure of what to do. With barely any homework so soon into the new school year, in the past few weeks, Jess had often found herself running out of things to do. She usually had Quidditch training, and could always practice outside of hours, but that involved getting changed and walking all the way down to the Training Pitch, which was sometime far too much work after a long school day. Or, she could grab a book and read, but even that was a bit too boring for the start of the school week. So Jess had resolved to find some sort of exhilarating activity. And now here she was, walking through the castle in search of some friends, or anything to join.

Just as she was beginning to despair, an irresistibly delicious smell hit Jess' nose. Mmmm... cake. What's the occasion? She followed the smell down the corridor, but was surprised to find that it led her not into the Great Hall, but into the Small Hall beside it. Puzzled but curious, Jess pushed the door open, and was astounded by what lay in front of her.

In the Small Hall, an entire party's worth of decorations and food had been laid out. There was a banner that read 'Happy Birthday', strung across the furthest wall, and there were three tables, each laden with a variety of different foods and drinks; on the left table, there were bottles of Butterbeer and all sorts of sweets and snacks, many which Jess recognised from the selection you could buy at Honeydukes and similar franchises. On the right table, there was more substantial food, and Jess supposed that was for anyone who planned to skip dinner for the party. At that thought, Jess' stomach grumbled, just as she turned her gaze on the middle table, which heralded an exquisite birthday cake. Jess was overwhelmed by so many exquisite aromas, and eagerly made her way into the heart of the room. There, busying herself with small tasks around the tables, was a girl that Jess somewhat recognised from behind. Isn't she a Gryffindor from my year? Alliasta, I think...

Tentatively, worried about scaring the living daylights out of the clearly-preoccupied girl, Jess said, "Hey, Alliasta, isn't it? I'm Jess, from Hufflepuff. We're in the same year - um, am I alright to be in here?"

While Alliasta was still wandering around and testing the environment to see if anything bad was happening. She made sure of everything. Now it was time to wait for the others to arrive. She found someone to leave a note in Karlie's room, and when the other students arrived, they would wait for Karlie to arrive as well.

But then she heard a voice. She turned around to see the same year girl she knew from Hufflepuff. As the girl spoke, Alliasta listened with a smiling face. And finally she started talking with excitement.

"Ah! Yes yes I remember you. We're in the same year... we even took the same classes, right? Oh and don't worry, anyone can come in here! There's a birthday party here. So everyone can participate. In fact, the more the merrier! Oh and I'm so glad you know me too! But we haven't met officially so let's get acquainted. I am Alliasta Holista! But you can call me Alli or whatever you want!"

Alliasta held out her hand for Jess to shake. Afterwards, she invited the girl inside.

"Oh, and there are wristbands at the entrance! You can take one if you want! It's a special for each guest who enters! Look, there are snacks here, and there are more filling ones in the other place! Don't be shy and taste them! So we don't have to wait for anyone to eat! But try not to finish it because the other guests might be hungry too Hehe"

Alliasta smiled gently at Jess. She wanted Jess to feel comfortable. It was also very important to be hospitable in her own home, so she did her best.

Alliasta turned around with a smile, and said:
"Ah! Yes yes I remember you. We're in the same year... we even took the same classes, right? Oh and don't worry, anyone can come in here! There's a birthday party here. So everyone can participate. Alli held out her hand for Jess to shake, which she did enthusiastically.

Jess laughed out loud - Alli's funny! Then, she went and grabbed one of the Hufflepuff wristbands, noticing how each one was customised for the different houses in blue, yellow, red and green, before going over to inspect the snack table. It all looks so delicious! I really will have to be careful not to eat everything! Deciding to start off light, Jess took a handful of popcorn and began munching, but she was already eagerly eyeing the different varieties of sweets and chocolates that were begging her attention, regardless of the fact that she was still eating her first snack! I wonder when everyone else will arrive?

After having finished her mouthful, Jess picked up a packet of some sweet or other and wandered towards Alli. Not sure how to keep the conversation going, she asked, "So, Alli, is this a surprise party? For...", Jess lunged over to the cake and saw that the name of the lucky recipient was... "Karlie? I don't think I know her... or him. Are you sure they'll be alright with me being here?"

Alliasta watched with pleasure as the girl ate something, her facial expression seemed to like it, so this made Alliasta happier. That was the girl's goal anyway. She wanted everyone to eat these snacks. She really wanted them to have fun and have fun on Karlie's birthday.

Then the girl took a dessert and began to move towards Alliasta. Alliasta smiled and smiled at the girl's question.

"Oh no, no, don't worry, no one will judge you for why you're here! Besides, I was already asking everyone who could attend to do so! And you don't know how happy I was that you came!"

Then Alliasta sighed and looked around. Not many people had come yet, but there was time, she would wait for everyone who wanted to come, and she wanted Karlie to at least meet someone to mingle with.

"Karlie is a first year Gryffindor girl! So I organized this because I wanted her to be away from her family but still be able to integrate here! I hope she'll be happy! What do you think the surroundings are like? I mean, I really tried!"

The girl smiled sweetly again. She looked around and tried to create a really nice atmosphere. Then she looked at Jess again and waited eagerly for her answers.
