She was back. The hiatus had been only a few months but it had seemed a lifetime. Her passion for teaching simply could not be stifled. Without much surprise to Aoi herself, the role of Professor of History of Magic had been promptly filled. She would’ve been surprised otherwise. Hogwarts was a school of standards after all. However, luck played to her regardless, as the Defense Against Dark Arts position had experienced a vacancy. Aoi hadn’t hesitated to apply for the role, and now, having secured it, she found herself standing in the Great Hall.
Her demeanor remained calm, collected, that of a professional, a standard she held herself to always. She strolled along the long tables, in between the two occupying the center of the hall. As she walked she removed her gloves, which shone in the firelight as if glossed. Silently she deposited them into a pocket of her black peacoat. She withdrew a list from the pocket on the opposite side. The parchment was marked by her neat handwriting, a list of things to get done before the start of the next year. Set up her office, finalize a lesson plan, visit her Sister, meet any new colleagues and or students.
Despite her calm appearance, she was bubbling on the inside. A small kernel of anxiety and doubt had possessed her mind, growing until she secretly feared she’d never be able to return to a teaching position. The fear had been put to bed though, and the joy that replaced it was threatening to overflow. Were it not for her discipline, she’d be laughing madly. She glanced around, wondering if any new or familiar faces might be around.

Professor Sky was back?
That was the question echoing through the halls, echoing since not many kids were left, Elena was though. Albeit she didn't speak to her much before, it was encouraging that Defence classes were being taken over by someone Elena liked. Defence was a lot of fun, sometimes Elena wasn't quite able to pull of the feeling of lightness that came with charms spells but hexes, jinxes, curses, anything that required an intention to hurt really, was easier.
Elena was peering around the doorway of the great hall, not sure if she should go in, but also really wanting food. So she slid into the room and got some of that all afternoon dinner that the elves set up for random students, brilliance. Elena put a slice of pumpkin pie on her plate and slid over to Professor Sky.
"Professor you're back!" Elena beamed, "I thought you were gone forever this is awesome! Are you taking back over History of Magic?"
Elena was quietly hopeful, not really sure about the new history of magic professor, he didn't have the quiet dignity of Sky, the excitement of Lian, or the pure distilled snark of Griffith. In fact she wasn't sure what his thing was yet.

No sooner had she began glancing around than a student approached her. Despite her recent arrival and it being a slow time, there were a few more people around than Aoi expected. A familiar student, commonly filled with enthusiasm. It was Miss Elena Jones, and that energy was still present in the girl. Miss Jones beamed up at her and queried.

Aoi tilted her head thoughtfully. “Why my dear, I’m surprised the news hasn’t reached you.” She turned to face the girl head on, giving her full attention. “I won’t be returning to teach History of Magic I’m afraid. Don’t worry, the post is filled by a more than capable Professor. Instead, I have come to educate you on how to defend yourselves. I’m the new Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor.” Aoi absently pulled her hair behind her ear.
“It has been a while young one. I apologize for leaving so suddenly.” It was at that point Aoi noticed the food. She hadn’t eaten since arriving, and the trip had been a long one. She could’ve stopped in at Hogsmeade but had instead decided to head straight to the school. There was so much to get done. “That pie looks delicious. If you don’t mind, I’ll be getting some nourishment. Feel free to accompany me.” Aoi held her hand out to welcome the girl along.

Elena decided to go with the professor, since this was one of the ones that the girl actually liked talking to, "Of course Professor, I'd love to. The pie here is always my favourite part of early afternoon dinner."
Elena decided against mentioning that it was sometimes her normal lunchtime, or dinnertime meal. It'd probably also be a go-to breakfasttime meal if not for the fact they didn't server it at that stage.
"New defence teacher, that's really cool, I look forward to the classes." Elena nodded happily, "And I understand, it's just excellent that you're back."
Elena felt she'd gotten exceedingly lucky with the new professors, MacTavish was cool, and now Professor Sky was back. And although it wasn't for her previous subject, Defence was still one of the few favourites Elena bothered to have. History of Magic, and Defence, since Elena had always been better at casting the jinxes and hexes involved with those classes than the light and airy happiness magic from Charms.
"Would you like any help decorating your office? I remember you had a lot of books and little things and I don't mind much." Elena offered, as always with the girl, it was sincere, since manners had almost no meaning to her.
