Quidditch Gryffindor vs Hufflepuff - Fall 2024

By all accounts it should’ve been much harder to catch sight of that elusive ball of gold in this weather. Both he and the other seekers had enough of a hard time finding it in far better weather afterall, so with all the rain and not a single drop of sunlight to catch on gold and help hint at where the golden menace was…well suffice to say he was more than a little surprised when he caught sight of it darting through the air.

Maybe all that practice was working?

…nah.

That was probably pushing into wishful thinking. It was probably luck more than anything but who was he to question Lady Luck? Nobody, that's who. Eyes on the snitch he was hardly going to question whatever good whatever small edge they had in the game as he flew after the snitch!

Ethan, still dazed, was falling towards the ground but quickly managed to regain his composure in midair, backbeating the bludger to hit Tesla off her broom. The bludger's not done yet! It spins towards Ethen, sending him falling off his broom as well. As he falls in the air, Wren swoops in, catching him just in time. “Whoa, nice catch,” Ethan breathes out, his heart still racing as the wind whips past them.

The game started and I quickly closed up to the Hufflepuff Beater and tried to blatch her off her broom. I missed, barely just barely. If I was a tiny bit fatter maybe I would've got her. I thought I concealed it well but apparently not. Penalty lap for me. Before I can even a start a brown rocket flew at me head. Instinctively I grabbed on tight to my broom. I blinked dazed and grimaced. My head hurt like shit. I slowly pulled myself up and reluctantly started my penalty lap. This Quidditch game has not gone according to plan, for me. I guess it was a successful round for the team. 3 Hufflepuff players out and 1 doing a penalty lap with me.

And now she was in the game. She watched as her team's keeper was hit and went down. She turned to the girl who had squished themselves next to her. "Guess we're in," she smiled. She grabbed her broom and flew into position as they had practiced, watching the other second strings who were needed do the same.

Getting the quaffle wasn't the problem, getting it past @Atlas Reid was. He'd known the Hufflepuff keeper would be a challenge to beat and she seemed determined to keep a clean sheet. The spitting rain wasn't helping, rendering his vision bleary and unfocused. Or maybe it was helping. His third throw swerved at the last second, curving past Atlas. He didn't think he'd ever grow tired of that ding sound on the scoreboard.

After a second quaffle went through the hoops, a satisfied smirk came over him. "You know you're supposed to keep them out, right?" he teased Atlas. There was no malice in his voice, he saved that for when they'd be playing Slytherin.

The crack of the bat against the bludger is as satisfying as always to the third year. Avery squints through the rain to try and follow the bludger's path, a small smile making an appearance as she watches it hit on target. Focusing back on the action across the field she feels her stomach drop as a number of players tumble from the air, including far too many from their own team. Certainly not the greatest of starts, but the match was still far from over.

Oonagh grinned when she saw Pax, their captain, drop out of the sky. Energy coursed through her as she kicked off the ground and was in the sky within seconds. "Let's show them how it's done," she quipped towards Erlea, who also had been summoned to the sky by another of their team mates failure. Oogie would rule this sky, of that she was sure. This broom would lead her to victories, starting now. She was ready for violence.

Getting into action, Daphne was no stranger to her role as it was her third year playing and she was much more confident than ever before. She stood up as soon as she saw Ethan fall and grabbed her broom, mounting it once she was given the okay. The Gryffindor team was strong but she would not be fazed.

Rosette played as she always did, with more confident in her abilities, flying and going with the motions and the techniques and plays talked about previously. She was much calmer than her first years in Quidditch. She did flinched when she saw Tesla and Ethen were knocked out of the game as for Eugenia, Rosette was reminded of her own first game and hoped this doesn't disturb and cause the girl to quit Quidditch. She looked to see what else was going on counting opponents that were also ko'ed. Two sharing a broom and two were out of the game. Rosette focused back on the match.
