He didn't even know what it was about? Huh. If it was cunning and ambition she wasn't sure she was really going to like most Slytherins. She was glad he didn't think those fit him. Her house, Ravenclaw was the house of the smart. She didn't feel very smart. Maybe it wasn't about actually being smart. Maybe you just had to want to learn. She wanted that. She loved learning.

She listened as he began talking again. So he was a second year. That was ok. She wouldn't have him in any classes, but she would have most of her classes with just Ravenclaws anyways. She liked him. He was nice.

She knew she should be getting ready to leave, but she sat down and looked at the view. The grounds really were beautiful. "What's your favorite class? I've only gone to charms so far but I'm excited for Care for Magical Creatures." Her charm class had been strange. She wasn't sure she liked the teacher. They were very strange.

She missed her parents. They had sent her a letter, but all it had really talked about was how annoying they thought the owl system was. They couldn't send her owls unless she had sent them one because they were muggles and didn't have a family owl to use. She found herself already longing for winter break just a few weeks into school. She didn't have anyone who she could confide in at the school.

“Er… favourite class? Astronomy or potions, I suppose. I’m looking forward to Care of Magic Creatures, but that’s in third year, so I’ll have to wait a bit longer for that.Flying is okay, but I always forget to follow every one of the safety rules and end up losing marks or getting in a bit of trouble.” Felix had been rather disappointed when he realized that Care of Magical Creatures was a third years and up class. He loves animals, and his original plan for his future, before he knew about magic and whatnot, was to maybe become an Herpetologist or an Ornithologist. He’s not sure whether that’s even possible now that he’s going to be at Hogwarts until he’s like, seventeen. There’s high school classes you have to take, he’s pretty sure, to get into uni or college for biology. Plus, high school credits in general. At least you don’t need volunteer hours to graduate Hogwarts, unlike muggle high schools.

“Professor Starwise is pretty neat. Have you met him yet? He’s the astronomy professor. He has threatened to yet anyone breaking curfew in the astronomy tower off of the parapets, but I don’t think he has, yet. Professor Fresnel- well, if you’ve done charms already, you’ve met her. She’s a tad bit strange, but really fun.”

Upon hearing that Care of Magical Creatures was 3rd year she sighed. She had really been looking forward to that. She had thought that because she had needed to get a "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" book she would be taking that class. Sure it wasn't on her schedule, but....

Flying sounded fun. She wondered how they flew. In the pictures of witches they were always flying on brooms and in Diagon Alley she had seen a store filled with brooms. Maybe that was what they flew on. She imagined a broom wasn't super comfortable though.

Astronomy also sounded cool. She liked looking at the stars. Then again she didn't like staying up late. She was a little hesitant about potions. She liked cooking but she had a feeling that potions wasn't like cooking.

She looked up when she realized he was talking again. Professor Starwise. Nice name for an astronomy teacher. She decided to be careful not to get onto the astronomy tower after curfew. Professor Fresnel certainly was strange. They'd made skeletons dance. She'd never done something like that before. It had been kinda fun though.

"Yeah. Professor Starwise sounds like a good name for him.... Professor Fresnel made us have skeletons dance. Did she do that to you?"

"Yep. Dancing skeletons. It was pretty ridiculous, or, at least, it seemed that way because it was one of my first classes and I definitely wasn't expecting it to be like that." Felix checks his watch again.

"Do you want to start heading back to the castle? I dunno how far the walk is to the Hufflepuff dorms, but you probably don't want to break curfew in the first week (he had, but he's a horrible role model, don't do what he does).

He's not sure what to do now. He almost feels awkward. Now that Silva's done screaming about the giant squid's tentacles, and she's done apologising for disturbing him, and she is done asking questions about stuff, he's not sure what to say. Felix looks back at the water. There's a tentacle visible farther down the shore, but in this spot, the limb has retreated. He briefly wonders if the giant squid can hear through vibrations (like they could sense vibrations actually) like the sand bugs in Primeval that grabs people who run on the sand, because those things look like they would be sensitive enough to feel all of the kids running around or splashing in the water.

what time is it? I'm going with later in the day, but if you have a different idea, feel free to say so

So she did dancing skeletons for everyone. Wonderful. Just wonderful. She wondered what other ridiculous things she made them do. Not that she really minded. She just didn't want to mess up something that was already ridiculous and make a fool of herself.

She looked up at him to see he was looking at his watch. She was a little confused at him saying the Hufflepuff dorms. She was in Ravenclaw. "The Ravenclaw dorms are in a tower so they're pretty far away... I don't remember how to get there.... we probably should get going...."

She wished she could just figure out how it worked like she could with a maze but this wasn't a maze. It moves around! What kind of building had moving staircases. And it had way too much space for the amount of teachers and kids there seemed to be. It was huge!

Plus it had ghosts, talking portraits, floating candles, refilling dishes, and a giant squid in the lake. It probably had a million other things too! It was insane how much magic there was. And you couldn't even use electricity. She'd tried to use her watch to call her parents, but it didn't work.

She got up and got ready to head back before the big looming forest caught her eye. "Is that the 'Forbidden Forest'? Why is it forbidden?"

Yeah. I think it's after dinner and the suns gone down/almost gone down. Probably between 6:30 and 7:30

Felix face palms. "Shoot, sorry, I've been meeting a lot of Hufflepuffs recently, it's gotten stuck in my head. Yeah, you're right. The Ravenclaw tower is sort of far away. Plus, isn't there a riddle to answer to open the door?" that's what he's heard about the Ravenclaw dorms.

"I thinks it's forbidden because of creatures and whatever. Or maybe because half of the kids at this school seem to have no sense of direction and would probably get lost forever if they went in there." he says it with some contempt.
Some people seriously can't use basic common sense or brainwork and keep track of which way they came/need to go. Also, it's not that difficult to carry a compass to explore a forest. He hasn't gone in the Forbidden forest yet, so maybe he can't judge, not knowing exactly how dangerous or confusing this specific forest is, but still.

Silva is standing now, looking ready to go. Felix wonders whether he can just wander around the grounds bit more. He would like too. The weather is pretty nice this evening, and he's always enjoyed walking along the edge of the grounds, where he can sort of look into the forbidden forest, and there is less other students.

"Yeah... its kind of annoying..... and anyone can get in if they have a bit of logic..." She had found it quite annoying to have to answer a riddle every time she wanted to get into the common rooms. Sometimes it was quite easy while others she was just plain confused. She wondered how you got into the Slytherin common room.

"Huh... I've been having a lot of trouble getting through the castle, but that's cause it keeps moving around.... any idea what kind of creatures?" She was fascinated by the forest. If Felix was right then it wouldn't be that dangerous.... but it was forbidden.... and she wasn't a rule-breaker............... She pulled her gaze away. No sense thinking about it. She certainly wasn't ever going to try to get in there. What if she was caught! No. She wasn't trying. She looked back over at Felix.

"Where's the Slytherin common room?" She didn't really want to admit to herself that she was just stalling. She was reluctant to leave even though she knew she was probably already going to be breaking curfew by the time she got back to the dorms. Slowly she started walking towards the castle.

The castle. The miserable, huge, crazy, awesome, annoying, scary, stupid castle. Ugh.

"That is sort of the whole point of Ravenclaw though, isn't it? Intelligence and wisdom and whatever? So, if a person is intelligent enough to answer the Ravenclaw riddle, then they're intelligent enough to be allowed into the Ravenclaw space, maybe?" Felix does think that it would be a bit annoying if everyone could get into the Slytherin dorms, but technically, anyone could, it's just a password, it's just that no one tries to.

"I don't know what sort of creatures live in the forest. They must be somewhat dangerous, since it's forbidden. The regular woodland creatures, spiders and bats, I suppose, as well as maybe centaurs or something? Ooh, maybe miniature giant squids?" for some reason, the ought of mini squids makes him quite happy. He's not sure why.

Then he answers her last question- "And the Slytherin dorms? They are in the dungeons." Felix deadpans. He sort of likes that it's a bit colder and darker in the dungeons than other places in the castle (he gets too warm easily), but he thinks it a bit annoying that Ravenclaw and Gryffindor both get towers while Slytherin is in the dungeons (and the Hufflepuff dorms are in, like, the cellar he's pretty sure.).

"They could have called the forbidden forest the 'highly discouraged forest'. It means basically the same thing in teacher-speak anyways. Kids would get the idea." he brushes his hair out for his face.
It's a bit too long for his liking right now. The back is at his shoulders, and the sides are just past his ears. He wonders if he could cut it, since he's at school and his dad isn't here to get mad at him for it. Then he decides that that wouldn't work, because he's only ever done trims on it himself, except for the one time that he cut quite a lot off. That was the time he got caught, and he's not entirely sure how bad it looked, because he wasn't really focused on that. By the time he actually looked at his hair, his dad had already taken him to the hairdressers to get it tidied up.

She considered this. "Yeah... I guess it makes sense..." She still didn't like that anyone could get into the common rooms. It wasn't safe. What if someone snuck in............. sure Hogwarts had defenses but...........

Upon hearing 'centaurs' her mouth dropped open. WHAT! Centaurs are real! Would she ever stop being amazed at magic? She doubted it. There was just so much insane stuff in this world. Did she want to stop being amazed? She was kind of surprised to realize that she wanted to continue learning about magic.

"I feel like mini squids couldn't live in the forest..." Too many trees, not enough water. Squids lived in water and from what she could see there wasn't a ton of that.

She listened to where the Slytherin common room was. "Oof... dungeons sound cold and miserable...." She hated being in a tower in terms of how long a walk it was from everywhere, but she liked that it was open and high up. Much better than a dungeon.

She laughed a little at 'highly discouraged forest'. "Yeah...... honestly people are more likely to sneak in when its forbidden.... if you just tell people its dangerous but you don't care they won't go......" She knew exactly why kids wanted to go. She often felt like she wanted to do something really bad just cause it was forbidden, but thankfully her common sense always prevailed.

"Yeah, there's definitely more reason to sneak in to places when you are told not to. I feel like teachers should have learned that by now."Felix shrugs, then looks up at the sky, where a lone goose is flying. he wonders where the rest of it's flock had gone.

"the dungeons aren't bad. At least it isn't a long walk upstairs. And anyways, it's pretty cool with the window looking into the lake. It's fun to just sit and look through the window when you have nothing to do, or if you are feeling a bit down.". He does like sitting next to the window. It's very pretty. It's also where he first met Matthew and Kaitlyn, at the start of last year. That had been a bit of a strange interaction.

He likes the idea of mini squids. Squids are just really cute, and mini ones could be awesome. Also, with all of the magic around hogwarts, who knows what sorts of adaptions creatures could make. including mini squids being able to survive in the forest. Okay, now he's really into this mini giant squids idea. Oh, that's an oxymoron- mini giant. Felix has no idea when he started actually remembering what an oxymoron is, but that's fine with him.
