Practice makes friends?

Could they meet again? Wow. Okay so she made a friend today, her heart started to beat a little faster, surely she’s made a few kinda friends in the first month but never had someone outwardly expressed wanting to spend time with her again. Okay, she was good. Maybe she would have a close friend before she knew it.
Okay, now she just had to answer the question without sounding too excited, because that could come off as desperation and who would want a desperate friend? “Well I’ll see you at class and in the common room, and there’s that ball coming up. If you want we could meet up there?”
Poppy figured going to the ball alone would suck, she’s been to plenty of pure blood dances and when her cousin wasn’t there it was the worse thing ever. Trying to make it through small talk with other kids, sometimes older ones with greater magic. She knew the Hogwarts ball wouldn’t be as uptight as a pureblood gathering but that in a way made it worse. She would have to interact with people she knew. It wasn’t mostly introductions and discovery.
Also Hogwarts has had things so wrong at events before. She would feel safer with her classmate beside her.

OOC note: I said meet there because I wanted to write Poppy into the Haunted Halls event in time for the first round so there’s already a post of her there. Would you’d be okay with having Dove meet her there and they can solve puzzles together? (You can owl me the answer if you want)

Practice makes friends?
Poppy talked about meeting at the ball, and Dove tried to remember if she had heard about it before. She may have listened to some conversation in the common room which were talking about it, people wondering who they could to with, others saying they prefered to work instead of going there, but by dint of searching into her memories, she remembered some panick at the idea of going alone. At this moment, Dove was mostly focused onto her homework, so she didn't think of it again.
But when Poppy let that idea slip into her "other meetings" proposals, Dove immediatly said a big
"Yes of course !"
Before even remembering of this event. En then, she wondered, with her sweet innocent eleven years old mind, if balls were only for dates, so she blushed thinking of that, but she had the idea of Poppy being someone mature. After all, she helped her by giving some flying advice, so she must be a clever person, and if Poppy asked her going together at the ball as friends, this meant that no, balls weren't only for lovers. Once again, Poppy taught something else to Dove, and she smiled at this idea.
"I guess we'll meet again before the ball, but I can't wait to be here now ! It really was a pleasure to meet you."

Although, she figured if she just took a moment to calm down and tried again with the confidence that she just made a friend by teaching something she barely knew things would probably go better. It was definitely worth a shot.
“Okay, Poppy, you got this. Your mom has been in high altitude high speed chases with dark wizards and come out of it with minor injuries. Passing a practical is so much easier.” The young witch thought to herself to psych herself up.
Then once she had her false confidence up she got on her broomstick, well the schools broomstick but it was hers in this moment. “I need to get more practice in before my time is up. I’ll see you around!” Poppy leaned forwards to start her ascend into the sky as she finished up her talking with her classmate.
It might’ve just been placebo effect but faking confidence for her broom surely seemed to make everything easier.
