Prompt 9: The Rogue | Write about something going missing. How does your character react? Was your character the victim? Was your character the culprit?
Cam was more than terrified when they looked into Maria’s bedroom to find her gone. He didn’t believe her when she explained the deal she made for the villages protection. Even when the messengers were sent off to find other villages and tell them of this deal, he just refused to believe it.
Now he looked upon where Maria once slept, and where she would usually be preparing for a hunt, but she was gone. “Marmar, why?” His voice broke as the question escaped him.
He of course knew the answer.
Maria did it for him, for everyone in the village she cared about deeply. Know that more people didn’t mean a larger target for the fey they could expand. Sure more people meant more mouths to feed but it also meant more hands to hunt and gather. It meant new skills and knowledge in once place. What she did made sense.
Then why did it hurt so much? Why why why!
He took a deep breath. “Please be safe in the capital, please.” He internally scolded himself for speaking to an empty room like it was Maria. She couldn’t hear him, why waste his air with this?
He didn’t have anything to do until the sun was half risen, and it was currently barely above the ocean. He slid down the wall and let the tears flow out of him. He had to get it out before it was his turn to gather up plants for the village.

Prompt 7:
The Paladin | Write about a cause your character would fight for. Why is it so important to them?
Cameron gave the best puppy dog eyes he could, “please, just because you teach me how to use a bow doesn’t mean I’m going to go off on my own before I’m allowed to hunt.”
Maria scoffed, “You’re ten, you don’t need to start learning five years early.” Also Maria didn’t trust that he wouldn’t run off into the front line of when the village got attacked and get himself hurt in the process. “Plus, most of the bows are as tall as you.”
His eyes lit up in a way that Maria did not like, “You just said most not all! Please.” He dragged out the please. Maria found it funny, if he wasn’t washed up on this island he would be using those skills to get another scoop of ice cream from his parents, not to learn with a bow he might not be able to hold.
“Fine, if you can find a bow you can comfortably hold, I’ll think about it. You’re not allowed in my archery class though, if I agree to teach you, you have to accept you’re going to learn slower than the older kids. Okay?” Cameron basically ran over to the archery shed.
“If I start practice now, I’m going to be as good as you once I’m an old lady. I’ll bring enough food for the entire village after each hunt! No attackers will be able to hurt U.S. when I’m on watch!” Maria sighed, did she really just agree to help a kid who thought nineteen was being an old lady?

Prompt 6:
The Monk | Write about someone secluded in your setting. Why have they chosen a life of seclusion? Does the setting make it easy for them to live this life?
Not all fey wanted to live in cities with classes and the courts and loyalty pledges. Some preferred to have their own little space in a tucked away corner.
Newcomers to the island, the easiest of the humans to capture might stumble upon a fey city but none would seek shelter in it. Not with the guards who are obviously not human. They get scared and run off leading to a chase which some get found is just too much work.
Especially when a little cottage with a fire in the snowy woods was enticing to the washed up humans. They would come right on in, most without even noting the mushroom circle, the fey ring, that surrounded the seemingly harmless building.
Then once they were in illusion magic became too easy. Some would drink the hot chocolate, others would accept warm soup. Then the magic could set in.
However the plan wasn’t full proof. Some could escape. Liam had been one of those few. Sure he didn’t suspect the fey to be real, but he crushed a mushroom on his way in. It made the illusion magic weaker. He noticed the small details like the glow of his hosts eyes, and the magic swirling in the hot chocolate which looked more like a potion from some kids book.
His escape wasn’t foolproof though as one cannot leave a fey circle without permission unless they wish to drag some magic with them.
