Summary

Knollen Twins [Working Title] is planned to be a series of books that follow the lives of twins Alison (who becomes a vampire) and Alexandra (who becomes a lyko) Knollen. The setting begins in a small, secluded town called Yorne, and the time period is an alternate historical 1800s vibe. Unknown to the simple residents of the quiet town of Yorne, there is large supernatural presence of vampires and lykos (werewolves) - and it is about to get even more crowded as a group called "The Sweep” arrives: an ancient faction of Chaciers that is dedicated to ridding the world of all non-human beings. Alison and Alex unknowingly and unwillingly get thrown into the conflict as they are both transformed against their will. The book will be written in third-person and switch between Alison and Alex’s perspective (with maybe a few jumps into the perspectives of other main characters).

Outline

• Alison is stressed about why James hasn’t proposed even though he has courted her for some time. Alex contemplates running away from an arranged marriage to Roger Morenson.
• Aidan watches Alison and contemplates killing James (who he knows is sleeping around). Demetrius plans to attack Aidan the next time he steps into Lykos territory, which he does frequently as he follows (stalks) Alison.
• Alex tries to sneak out of town, but Alison follows, and they are caught up in a fight between Aidan and Demetrius. Alison is critically injured, and Aidan turns her into a vampire to save her life. Alex is left for dead but survives as a lyko - stuck in her wolf form.
• Before they can be reunited, Alex is captured by the Chaciers, who attempt to domesticate/train her to be a hunter. William, a kind-hearted member of the family, tries to protect her.
• Meanwhile, Alison wakes up in Aidan’s coven, where she is seen as a threat, but Aidan keeps her alive. She refuses to accept her vampirism and tries to resist feeding on humans. She escapes the coven, realizes that she cannot return to her family without endangering them, and runs to James, only to discover he’s been unfaithful.
• "The Sweep," a specific and extreme faction of Chaciers dedicated to eradicating all non-humans, arrives in Yorne. They begin targeting vampires and lykos and even threaten the family of Chaciers in the area, who use lykos to help them hunt vampires.
• While under the Chaciers' control, Alex is sent on a hunt after Alison. When they encounter each other, Alex helps Alison escape, though Alison doesn’t realize who the wolf is. The Chaciers punish Alex for her disobedience; William tries to protect her.
• Alex is able to escape with the help of William. She eventually meets Demetrius, who tries to get her to join the pack, but she resists.
• Alison follows her instincts to find Alex, who she realizes is a wolf. William helps them escape, and they go on the run together, seeking a way to return to their human forms.
• Aidan tries to force Alison to return to the coven, but Alex and William protect her, threatening Aidan. He secretly follows them.
• The group meets a witch who explains there is no cure for their transformations. She reveals a prophesy that may involve the twins. She also predicts someone’s death.
• Confrontation with “The Sweep”
• Alison, Alex, and William leave Yorne, but are nearly attacked by Demetrius. He allows them to leave, but warns them that traveling together is most dangerous because vampires, lykos, and Chaciers will all want them dead.

Main Characters

Alison Knollen: One of the twin protagonists, turned into a vampire. Idealistic, focused on finding a cure for her vampirism, resists becoming a “monster”. Struggles with her new life as a vampire, rejects Aidan's love, and is torn between the old life she had and the supernatural life she’s been thrust into.
Alexandra Knollen: One of the twin protagonists, turned into a wolf (lyko). Independent, rebellious, and conflicted about her new powers and her loyalty to her sister. Resists being controlled by the Chaciers, desires freedom, and is unsure if she wants to return to human life.
Aidan: A vampire obsessed with Alison, who turns her to save her life. Manipulative, power-hungry, and deeply in love with Alison. Wants Alison to embrace her vampire side, and is locked in a rivalry with Demetrius for power and revenge.
William: A Chacier who betrays his family to protect Alex. Kind, gentle. Struggles with his feelings for Alex and the harsh expectations of his father. He ultimately wants to live a normal life away from the supernatural world.
Demetrius: A lykos leader, and antagonist to Aidan. Vengeful, hardened by the death of his wife (whose death he blames Aidan for), but with an underlying uncertainty about his purpose. Secretly believes in the eradication of all non-humans.
