The Summer BBQ
Raine managed to pull herself from the cabin and wandered over to where the BBQ was being held. She noticed Professor Badger Browne manning the grill and wondered if it would be safe to eat any of his cooking. Honestly, she knew that she would have to partake in some food source. She doubted the elves would feed the campers especially since there was an abundance of food all over the place being cooked by the adults, but she truly couldn't see herself trusting...the adults here.Interacting with @Erin Ryan Observing @Arc Perscivious

Sighing to herself, the Gryffindor wandered around to see who all was there. The other Professor B was there, holding a cat, Professor Jensen was doing whatever she did, and then there were students all around the area, laughing, talking, eating. She noticed the Headmaster walking near the food table...and making a mess of it somehow...and then tripping over Arc who was choosing to take a rest on a blanket in the sun.
'If he doesn't have sunblock on, he's going to regret that. Arc and the sun just don't mix.' she thought as she walked over to a bit of shade by a tree. She didn't realize that she was about to wander into a preoccupied area though, and was startled a bit when an older girl's head basically fell level to her own. The Gryffindor watched as she then flipped between her arms and pulled herself upright, but she didn't even seem to notice Raine. The girl was squinting off into the distance. Following her gaze, she realized that the older girl was looking over at Arc and the Headmaster and was wondering what she could possibly want with them. But it didn't really matter to Raine. So long as there was no ill will toward her friend, there would be no problems.
Clearing her throat, she addressed her upperclassman. "Hey, you know...if you squint any harder, those two might just end up bursting into flames." Raine didn't bother holding out her hand. She didn't think this girl would be the "handshaking" kind of gal, so she just inclined her head in greeting. "Name's Raine. Raine Sage."

There were too many people here. Catriona wanted very desperately to go back inside and read in the comfort of her soon to be common room, but she gritted her teeth and made her way to the food table. Her mother had told her to socialize and so she would. Catriona was perfectly capable of making friends. She just didn't want to.Interacting with @Meenauh Silmataurea
She spooned some salad onto her plate and grabbed a bread roll before walking away from the crush of people. When she was far enough away, she let her eyes wander over them.
Most students were clumped together, clearly having made friends the previous year. Why on Earth had her mother insisted on sending her to Hogwarts early? Everyone was already buddied up. Everyone except a girl sitting on a rock in the distance.
"Ok. You can do this. Just say hello and then maybe talk about the weather..." Catriona peered at the sky and then shook her head. "No, that's stupid. I'll just..." Sighing at her own inability to even think of conversation topics, Catriona headed over to where the girl sat.
I will not make a fool of myself, she repeated to herself.
"Hello!" The word flew out of her mouth like a badly aimed spell. She winced. Merlin, this was awkward. "I'm Catriona." She shifted the plate to her left hand and held out her right for the girl to shake.
"Every important thing that's ever happened to me has been in a library."

@Carson Miller @Dale KurtMaggie and Carson walked into the barbecue, too busy in a heated argument about football to stop and talk to any of the faces they recognized. “Carson, I appreciate your loyalty to your country, but Scotland isn’t even— like, the— ugh!” she kept cutting herself off, Carson was shaking his head throughout her whole mini-speech, his brown curls flopping around as he did so. “C’mon, Rapinoe’s projected to be the highest-scoring player in the cup, and Scotland’ll be knocked out by England today, no question!” Maggie seemed to realize that she was being a little loud, and she lowered her voice to a normal tone. “We’ll see though, won’t we?” she said, smirking at him. “Are you willing to make a bet, Miller? ‘Cause I can do that.” she teased, grinning. She looked over, seeing a few familiar faces. One stood out: it was Dale Kurt! “Dale! Hey, what’s up?” she said, waving the boy over. “I have an important question: who do you think will win in the match today: England or Scotland?” okay, maybe she was putting a little too much pressure on the boy, but her and Carson’s argument wasn’t actually serious. “There’s a right answer here, Dale.”

"Got to make sure that my doctor does not get crushed under the oaf," Erin claimed as she watched to make sure the Ravenclaw that the Headmaster fell over was still alive. She had met Arc in the boys bathroom oddly enough, well she bled all over him at the very least. It was yet another altercation with Howard that ended in blood, the Hufflepuff monster was turning into a masterpiece. Erin did not care greatly for many people and those she might tolerate had a habit of disappearing, allegedly no fault of her own. "Can't let the nerd get hurt, he's my nerd," Erin announced as she laid claim to the Ravenclaw youth.
This was Erin's version of being social and friendly, planning to victimize the enemies of those that she did not actively wish to harm. It was not much but it was something. "Erin Ryan," Erin answered without being asked.
Why was she paying attention to him? The nerd that is. "You got a thing for him?" She was asking about Arc. "He probably won't ever notice with you all the way over here, nerds are better with books than people," Erin advised. She was still working out as she continued her discussion. Worst case scenario, the Gryffindor girl would provide her with a safe landing if she came crashing down.

At last, a student had approached him. Boniface knew that he wasn't the most inconspicuous person here, seeing that he was a 32 year old, 6'2" 1/2 tall Scottish man wondering about the campgrounds. He certainly wouldn't go unnoticed. Especially not by the prying eyes of curious students, such as the blue-haired lass that had approached him. Boniface smiled, nodding.
"Guilty. Professor MacTavish, at your service. I teach Herbology now." He introduced himself, taking a bow as he did. It was enough to say that Boniface was just a little bit goofy. He was working his way into the environment, adjusting to all that surrounded him. The nerves had died down just a wee bit, enough for him to break out and start going to the adventure. Sometimes, he was untrue to his house.
Smiling at the girl who had approached him, he raised a thin set of brows. "Might I ask who I have the honor to be meeting?" It appeared that he had better get familiar with everyone. That was easier said than done, however. Everyone was just an umbrella term for a whole lot of people. A whole lot of kids, mostly.
The summer air was refreshing. There would be some plants that absolutely loved this season. His favorite thing about the season change was all the life that came with it. He could never help but marvel at what was to offer in terms of plant-life. And it was just as anyone should, for it was so fascinating.

Oh, the smell of barbecue, nearly overpowering in its sweet and savory aroma. From this close, the smell was so strong that Mac could nearly taste it. Despite not even being hungry a few moments ago, the smell made his stomach turn in the best possible way. He followed his nose over to the cook-out, a grin on his face as he looked around. He wasted no time in grabbing a plate, piling it high with pulled pork and potato chips.
There were a few people he knew here. He spotted Maggie and Carson among the crowd, to name a few. They seemed to be in a heated argument about... football? Yes, football, and they'd just dragged poor Dale into it as well. Not wanting to intrude, he decided to keep to himself as he took a seat at one of the nearby picnic tables.
As he bit into his sandwich, his eyes nearly rolled back in his head. Cooked to absolute perfection. It reminded him of summers gone by, when his mother would host cook-outs for Mac and his brothers. He almost felt guilty that he wasn't with them this year. With a frown, he took another bite of his sandwich, opting to eat his feelings away instead of thinking too much on his absence.
He hadn't even known about the barbecue until earlier today, and it must have been by some divine intervention that he didn't miss it entirely. Thank goodness for that; the food was divine in and of itself.

Carson laughed with Maggie as they made their way to the barbecue, and, though they were arguing, their banter was nothing but friendly. “Are you willing to make a bet, Miller? ‘Cause I can do that.” she joked, grinning at him. “Don’t want you going broke, Mags.” he boasted, the faint Scottish accent he usually never had coming out in the statement. “Rapinoe’s good though, I’ll give her that— have you seen Labelle’s performance lately though? She’s really coming up out of nowhere, I think she’s actually one of the best players on the team at this point.” he said, unable to resist analyzing the team without giving his honest opinion, despite the fact they weren’t Scotland. As Maggie waved Dale over, Carson noticed another familiar face: Mac Murphy! He’d barely seen the boy around the cabins, but he had shown up to the barbecue. “Hey Mac! What’s up, man? Where’ve you been?” he asked, grinning brightly as he waved Mac over. Almost all of Dragon’s Den was there, the only person they were missing at this point was Oliver Lock. Carson walked over to the food, unable to not notice their headmaster laying on the ground with a painful expression. He noticed a few other students, too, a Ravenclaw by laid in the sun and two girls, one a Gryffindor and the other a Slytherin, talked as the Slytherin hung her knees off a branch of a tree. Carson quickly grabbed enough food for everyone, heading back towards the beach. He stopped in his tracks, however, when an idea popped into his head. “Wait, Mags, why don’t we just have everyone come over here?”

Dale had been fine from his fall, good thing no one noticed him. It took a few minutes before he could get up and take a walk of shame back to the serving table and grabbed more food. As he walked back to the table, not tripping this time, he sat down and started to eat. The food was delicious, he ate the first burger and started on the second one. That's when he heard familiar voices, Maggie and Carson's voices, as they approached him Maggie asked him about the match today? What? What match he assumed she meant sports, but witch one, well it didn't matter so he decided to go with the place he been to. "Uhh, I'm not sure, England I guess?"

Interacting with @Boniface Murtagh MacTavishElena smiled brightly at MacTavish, “I’m Elena Jones, it’s an honour to meet you too. That was a very fancy bow, I like it.”
She nodded approvingly, “New herbology Professor? I like you already, not as terrifying or screechy as the last one. Also you’ve talked to me like another human being, which is a credit to your character. Or whatever idiom I’m meant to use.”
It was true that some of the past professors had a sort of ‘Child is Child, you should treat them exactly as such’ mentality. Elena hoped to god this one wouldn’t be one of the professorial goldfish, who showed up one month and were gone within the year, like the charms Professor, the precious herbology Professor, the potions professor, Professor Risa although she had returned for the position of Defence teacher. Then in addition the ones who were moved to head of house positions. Crazy turnover rate for Hogwarts professors, maybe it was the Scottish weather.
“What brings you out here so early Professor? Summer usually means time to go home and rest before everything blows up, sometimes literally, in the new term.” Elena wasn’t sure if she was joking or not but she had a sparkle in her eye anyway.

River was Looking curiously at the girl who had just tripped over her legs. She was on her way to the food table, when she had met an obsticle she simply could not overcome, a River in the grass. She had said sorry, and offered to bring River some food, to which she politly thanked no, in some way.| Open to Interactions |
The girl had gotten back on to her feet, recomended the vegentarian burgers, River nodded polietly as a godbye, and simply laid straight back down into the soft gras on top of her blanket, making it even softer. Like she was still in bed, but with more noise from other people, the fresh air all around, and a light summer breeze taking a careful hold on River’s red hair, and lifting it up in small waves.
Her mind drifted off, did she fall asleep? Probably not, she was too much on edge of any danger to do that. Still, she closed her eyes briefly, wondering what sounds her ears might pick up on, wihout the disturbance of her eyesight. Her ears focused in on different sounds, birds, conversations, the grill crackling, thuds from footsteps, the wind in the leves above her head an bees. River opened her eyes, she had already had one close encounter woth a bee already, this one could stay away. Bees were imossible to avoid during summer, River knew that, but she still did her best to stay on a distance.
Noticing where the bee was, her shoulders relaxed, it was a bit away, and not within her danger zone.
River sat up, resting her upper body up on her arms, looking out over the people who had now arrived. There were quite a lot of people now, who had decided to come outside for a nice meal in the sun.
River figured she probably should have something to eat, it had been a while since last meal, and her stomack was soon to be talking if she didn’t give it something to work with soon.
She swiftly got up from the ground and walked over to the table, not saying anything to anyone on the way. She grabbed a plate and carefully constructed a neat burger. Lots of greens was a must. She nodded politely to the professors managing the food, and returned back to her spot in the grass.
