It was a cool summer day. Clouds dotted the crystal blue sky, obscuring the bright orb whose light dominated the sky. Cool air blew in moderately from the great lake, making the shade from the large trees that surrounded the grounds of Hogwarts, and the great lake. In a small secluded area, a tad far from the grounds. There was a grouping of large trees packed closer together then other areas near the back of Hogwarts, while being in a still acceptably accessible area.
In the middle of this large shaded area, stood a large individual. They were dressed in the usual jet black robes that all students wore. Their height and size was unnatural for a student who appeared so young. Their height being at least 6'5" tall, with large hands, and long fingers. Broad shoulders framed a slightly barrel chested upper torso. The robes hid it well but whenever they moved glimpses of their limbs revealed that they were lean as well. Along with their unnatural physique was bright natural red hair that appeared to come ablaze whenever the sunlight shined upon it.
Large emerald-blue eyes that carried a certain observant knowing were positioned amongst a sea of dark freckles that covered his face, and most likely his whole body. The sunlight that filtered through the treeline highlighting his Fair slightly sun darkened skin. They had a well defined facial structure, that made them appear more mature then they were. It actually also caused him to look a bit more intimidating.
Currently this large individual was being most unceremoniously loud. A wand nearly 10 inches length and made of chestnut wood looking a tad small in his big hands. He held it with surprising depth. It appeared that they were practicing a spell or attempting to at least. The wand movement looked right and the incantation seemed accurate. However, nothing was happening and it was beginning to aggravate the strange individual. "May the gods curse ye Quinn!" He exclaimed getting more frustrated.
Quinn glanced up at the sky, and then his satchel that was leaning against a tree nearby. He had been at this for about an hour. He couldn't mess this up, no one could know. He refused to acknowledge his weakness, "Ruparo!" He exclaimed internally cursing himself as his accent got in the way. Again nothing happened, it was as though the wand itself refused to respond for him. He had the wand movement accurate but messed up the incantation. "What the cold bleedin hell is wrong with yeh. Ya gobdaw feckin shite stain!" Anger was clear in their tone. Their normally fair colored face going flush with red, and contorting in sheer anger, almost a snarl really.
"Oi wee weak Quinn yeh can't do anything right can yer. Couldn't do shite about Donnigan, couldn't do shite about Brannigan, and yer still afraid of fecking water!? So what makes yeh think ye can do anythin bout this right brutal situation???" It was a flaring question to himself. It was loud, angry, desperate, and honestly very pathetic.
But hey this was Quinn after all. He was a half giant, a freak, an outcast, and right shite at magic. He wanted to be the head of the department of Mysteries, and he couldn't even perform this charm right? Who was Quinn kidding it was hopeless wasn't it? Those were all the thoughts racing through his head as he repeated the movement and incantation over and over again.
The more it didn't work, or the wand flat out didn't respond. The more Quinn's frustration grew until he exploded. "DAMMIT!!!" He threw his wand down, and began to stamp around. "ITS FUCKING USELESS. YOU'RE USELESS. YOU'RE A GOBSHITE EIJIT BRUTAL GOOD FOR NOTHING FREAK!!!" He yelled at the top of his lungs. spouting curse after self deprecating curse. The large lumbering boy broke out in to tears as he raged and yelled. He walked over to the nearest tree and started to repeatedly punch with impressive force. It was so great that he was actually starting to crack the wood and leave an indentation of his fist.
"stoopid stoopid...stooo-" The crying grew more intense and he plopped down on his right arse. Just a foot from his wand glaring at it. "Ye must think me pathetic huh? Ye must hate what ah am is that it?" Here he was reduced to talking to his possibly sentient wand. Spouting insults, nonsense and the like. Still in a rage, tears streaming down his eyes. Face blushing with rage and now red knuckles that were slightly bruised. Quinn curled up and continued to somewhat loudly repeat the words, "I can't do it."

To be fair, she knew that she should've been in her robes... but it was just so hot, she couldn't stand the black fabric being draped across her whole body anymore. Only wearing her blouse, tie, and pants, Ami found her way outside, not really heading towards any particular destination in general. Elbowing her way past the hordes of students making their way inside, she finally made it outside, shading her eyes from the bright sunlight. Should've worn sunscreen... She was about to head back inside, but then she spotted the taunting glint of sunlight reflecting off the surface of the Great Lake- maybe a quick little dip of her feet in the water wouldn't hurt.
It was then that she heard... the yelling.
She wished that she could just brush it off- that it was just someone reacting to a funny joke that someone else had told. But... that voice. She knew that voice. So, so Irish, and so much cursing; that had to be Quinn. But what on earth could he be yelling about? And she knew about his fear of water, so why was he down by the Great Lake? Swiveling her head around, she searched for where on earth Quinn's voice was coming from, pinpointing it from a small cluster of trees growing at the edge of the Lake. With a determined look displayed on her face, she marched over towards the trees, determined to chew Quinn out for yelling so loud.
... then she saw the boy himself, looking like a total mess. Quinn, who was an entire foot taller than her, had clearly been crying quite recently, and his hands... what was up with his hands? He was flushed, too, which showed up quite easily with his pale skin. Immediately, Ami was at his side, kneeling beside him with her eyebrows knitted in worry. "Quinn, are you okay?" she asked worriedly, glancing at the tree with its cracked trunk. "I- I heard yelling, I thought you were hurt..."
This was classic Ami- her friends always, always came first. Yes, Scott was her best friend, and Alexx certainly held a special place in her heart, and she knew she could always get away with everything when it came to Amadea, but she trusted Quinn with her life. If he was hurt, either physically or emotionally, she would go to the ends of earth to help him- that's what she thought of friendship as. Of course, such a philosophy would likely get her in a lot of trouble later on in life, but she was only 13. Right now, her friends meant the world to her.

At first he didn't even hear her over his little melt down. Gosh he was such a mess lately. He would act more than normal, it seemed like lately his anger was on a hair trigger. The smallest thing would annoy him to be honest, but worst of all he didn't feel comfortable in his own body. Like sometimes he felt like his body wasn't his own, of course all of this he would never tell anyone and just kept it all bottled up. Well not utterly, he had a secret journal where he detailed all of his thoughts. It never left his side but was always hidden somewhere different on his person every-time he went out. It was his most prized possession even more so then the broken compass he got from Brannigan.
Around the second time he did hear her voice, and thought he was honestly just imagining. He was so careful...ish. He had been yelling like a soddin eijit, but still that fact didn't seem to register with him. "A-Ami *sniff* is that you?" The lad looked up from his curled up pathetic position. Emerald-Blue eyes tinged with conflicting and confused feelings. "....Shite...." He really messed up. He hadn't meant for anyone to see him like he was currently. He was the rock for quite a few people, and because of his dumb, stupid emotions he was acting like a wee child. Granted he was a child but still he hated it.
Unfortunately for him he was in no shape to hide his true feelings so while he didn't verbally speak his thoughts. His expressions showed just about everything quickly going from, annoyance, anger, melancholy, back to anger, sadness again, and then fully circle to annoyance in about the span of a full minute. Truly what was wrong with him, "I'm *sniffle* fine. N-Nothing to worry aboot." He curled back up hiding his face once more.
