Quidditch Training Pitch
Moderation Post

notes
Reducio

1. Frank has hidden stats and health pool.
2. Frank is immune to charmer.
3. The anti jinx dome no longer exists, it has petered out.
4. For spells not in the dueling rule book, I have attempted to balance them myself.
5. The centipede is getting two attacks per round, but on this round Meenauh's impaired fire rope bound it so it only got one.
6. Initiative was calculated by taking whichever is highest from Sta, Acc and Eva and rolling a d20.

The training pitch was suddenly drenched in moonlight as a cloud parted and illuminated the terrible scene. The light glistened off the creature’s carapace in a display of morbid beauty, which stood in stark contrast to the writing beast that owned it. The insect was pulling and shaking against the bind of Meenauh’s rope, which looked as though it would break at any moment.

With a flick of Dealla’s wand and an incantation uttered, fire of a deep blue colour was emitted. Its jet was broad and bathed the pitch in an ominous azure glow until it made contact with the insect’s carapace. It coated the creature as if it had been doused in liquid, its entire body bursting into a glaring sapphire inferno. The macabre grisly screeching of the centipede was drowned out by the sound of rushing, burning wind.

The burning rope, suddenly enhanced by Meenauh’s newly casted scorching charm, seemed to glow brighter, as if it were made of molten iron. A lick of flame kissed the rope and spread across the surface in a spectacular display of conflagration. The firestorm burned so intensely that it melted through the carapace and the rope snapped taut as it sliced the centipede’s body segment in half. The creature fell to the ground writhing until a moment later its wailing had ceased and the smouldering body disintegrated into ash.

Frank was dead.

More fire, more fire, Dee wanted to burn this monstrosity out of existence. It was Meenauh's spell that did the trick, and Dee flinched back as the creature was sliced in two, still struggling as it fell. Not for long, though. Ashes were all that remained.

Dealla stood still for a moment, silence spreading, and breathed out - but then the fear came rushing back, hot and cold, burning on her skin. "Jack," she whispered, then started forward, almost tripping over her own feet in her hurry. Better that she'd gotten rid of her shoes earlier, because now that the adrenaline wasn't keeping her going anymore, running was hard enough on her bare feet.

Jack's body still lay where it had dropped minutes - seconds? hours? - earlier, motionless; that wasn't normal, was it? The distance wasn't far but it felt like hours before she reached him, dropping to her knees. Her wand fell to the ground as she forced her fingers to unfurl, hands shaking as she reached for Jack's neck, desperately looking for a pulse. Where should it be again? Was there a spell to check his pulse? Why didn't they teach them more first aid at Hogwarts? "Please." If he was dead, if what she and Meenauh had done had killed him... she had so much more to yell at him about. It just wasn't an option she could consider. She hadn't even begun to consider what the last few minutes had meant. What the implications were of what she'd just witnessed. She couldn't. Please.

Her fingers trembling as they were, it took her longer than necessary, and then a few seconds longer still until she was sure she wasn't imagining it, but it was there, beneath her fingertips. He was still there. Suddenly, there were tears rushing down her cheeks, but she only sat back on the grass, the feeling of relief overwhelming. "Help!" Dealla called, quiet at first, then repeated louder as a scream. "Someone help!" Hadn't there been adults around? Even if she'd known what to do, she wouldn't have trusted herself to cast a spell at the moment, and the potions in her bag were all but useless. He wasn't hurt, not as far as she could see through her blurry vision. "Someone help." The last plea came out as a whisper, barely audible, and she hugged her legs to her chest, burying her face in her knees as she tried to breathe.

She'd stay that way until someone came to offer their help, then she'd collect her wand and get to her feet, directing their attention towards Jack, reassuring that she was fine. (She wasn't.) There'd be no point in trying to talk to her, and once someone (moderately competent seeming) would start to move Jack, she'd turn and leave the pitch, her steps stiff and wooden. She needed time to herself before she was able to face anyone else.
Action | Leaving. Closed to interactions.
Tagging @Dusana Sabo, @Sereia Clairmont, @Mateo Saez - unsure if any of your characters is still around and wants to step in.

Thank you @Theo Vendeberg for modding for us until the bitter fiery end!

The power of her knowledge finally paid off in a grave situation like this. Thank Merlin her accuracy was right on spot. In a fiery unison with Dealla's fuel, the flames turned into a pyre for the one creature mostly unwelcomed at this place and at this time.

Well, most probably the most unwelcomed place was in Jack's head. But no one knew if it ever was there, and no proof anyone would actually find out.

Once the remains of the previously unseen atrocity started to burn down to ashes, in complete silence when even the wind didn't dare to move, she heard a short but precise whisper of none other than Dealla Prince. Whatever it was that she whispered, it didn't matter, as it was the run that unpaused the reality for the three ladies at whatever was left at this ball.

Meenauh didn't follow. Meenauh wouldn't follow. She couldn't know if it was Jack Warren any more. She couldn't know if it was really Jack Warren these last six months she was conversing with. Whatever it was that they did to him, or saved him from, the lifeless body of Jack Warren told her enough — she will not see him again. Whether he was dead, or unconscious, she felt with her essence that along with the beast dying, it was the death of Jack Warren as she knew him.

When Dealla started to cry for help, Meenauh couldn't move. She flinched and turned around from both of them, and cried. Most probably from a vast barrage of feelings that stroke into her like a side effect from a horribly brewed potion. It was indistinguishable whether she was crying from powerlessness, or total inability to comprehend, or grief, or sorrow. She was trying to wipe them away as she tried to look for Xailah, but they just didn't stop.

She directed herself towards the exit from the pitch, making slow, careful and totally unmeasured, unlike usually, steps. The weak echo of Dealla's plea hit her eardrums stronger than any spell could.

This was her last ball at this Merlin-damned place.
Action: Leaving the thread (hopefully with, but not insisting, Xailah)
