Time: around 16:00 (4PM) after class
Avis stood frozen in the middle of the Hogwarts courtyard, the soft sound of the fountain and the shuffle of passing students' feet on old cobblestones fading into the background of her distracted mind. She'd been on her way to finish her most recent read in the solitude of the covered bridge on the other side of the courtyard but decided to take a chanced look at her Remembrall after a long confusing day of classes.

Unfortunately, the small clear ball had instantly filled itself with red smoke, the sight of which had been the cause of her current frozen state.

As Avis wracked her brain trying the think of what she could possibly be forgetting, she mentally took inventory of her usual possessions. All textbooks accounted for? Check. Robes? Wearing them. Her sister's old silver locket? Check. Remembrall? Well that was a stupid thought. Yes, obviously. Herbology gloves? Dirty but check. Wand?...Not in its usual pocket.

At this last thought, the girl dropped her school bag and began frantically searching through pockets. No. No and no. She groaned in defeat and stooped to pick up her dropped bag.

"Bloody hell, Avis," she mumbled to herself, hoping no one had noticed her state of panic.

Sabrina was sat down under a large oak tree, leaning back comfortably agaisnt its bark, her robes and blue striped scarf shielding her from the chilly weather.Magical drafts and potions in her lap, an open pack of lemon sherbet beside her, she felt perfectly content and relaxed. The first few weeks in Hogwarts were wild in all the best ways. Everything was new and exciting, from the changing stairs to the speaking portraits and literal ghosts.

There was so much to see and so much to do, and Sabrina simply decided she needed to experience everything. Between the intense yet amazing classes, common room games, library study groups and making friends, Sabrina found herself in a state that was quiete rare for her - exhaustion. She decided to use her free afternoon catching her breath, so she can be fresh for the countless activities awaiting her tomorrow. It took an incredible amount of self-control to not go to the library. She knew that the moment she'll step foot in the room, she'd be having a passionate conversation with one of her book-worm acquaintances.

So she settled on the courtyard with its bubbling water and autumn breeze, deciding its the calmest space in all Hogwarts. Her calm bubble bursted the moment she heared something heavy hit the cobbled ground. Looking up, she saw a girl quickly picking up her bag from said ground, looking quiete distressed. Sabrina recognized her as one of the first year Ravenclaws. She had seen her around a few times, but never got the chance to intfoduce herself

Closing the book and collecting her things, Sabrina grabbed her own bag, scurrying over to the other girl. Her recharging will have to wait.

"Hey!" She greeted, crouching down to pick up a piece of parchment that fell out of the other girls bag, handing it to her."Here- you okay? I saw you drop your bag and, no offense, you look paler than Nearly Headless Nick"

Avis let out a small shaky laugh at the other girl's joke but panic quickly took the place of humor as she reached for the piece of parchment, thanking the fellow Ravenclaw.

"Yes, well, no, well, I lost my wand and I have absolutely no idea where it might be. I need to find it before Charms tomorrow because we're using our wands for the first time in class. I'm going to have to back track my entire day which was so long. I had so many classes and oh- I think I stopped in the library to look for some Herbology books at some point. I think I've probably got the least green thumb in the entire Wizarding world. I can't remember where I went after that, but-" Avis paused to take a breath and realized she'd been rambling for an entire minute. The helpful stranger had asked one simple question and suddenly she knew half of Avis' class schedule and a short summary of her background in gardening. Avis sighed.

"I'm so sorry. I think I'm just stressed. It's been a long day and this is just the last thing I need, but thank you for asking," she said finally and bit her bottom lip, her thoughts drifting back towards the past day searching for any clue in her memory that might remind her of her elusive wand's location.

Sabrina listened intently as the other girl explained her worries, nodding ocassionally to signal that she followed.

"Nothing to be sorry for! I'd go nuts if I lost my wand." She said, subconciously petting her left robe pocket, feeling the long thin object. The girl looked hopeless, her bottom lip beging the swell as she anxiously gnawed on it. Sabrina gripped the strap of her bag, all previous plans for the afternoon forgotten.

"But don't worry, I'll help you find it, retracing your steps with you! I am quiete observant, you know? And I also have the adventage of fresh eyes and calm nerves, since its not me who'll have to suffer the consequences, obviously"

She smiled brightly, extanding her arms, seemingly oblivious to the rudeness of her last comment, blind to the social cues just as many other kids.

"Mmm lets see.. well, the positive thing is that it must be somewhere in Hogwarts! Wands dont just vanish.. I think. But how do we find out where you've been if you can't remember- OH- I know! your schedule! It'll be much easier to recall your actions if you use it as an outline of your day! Do you have it on you??"

It may be selfist, but Sabrina was actually quiete excited to take off on this scavenger hunt for the lost wand with her hopefully soon-to-be friend.

Avis felt the weight of stress lighten inside her chest at the girl's willingness to help. In fact she seemed rather eager which was a bit strange but Avis supposed some people just had the type of personality built for assisting others in need.

Avis nodded at the suggestions of the schedule. "I think so. In fact, I think you just gave it back to me," she said, lifting the piece of parchment and giving it a small shake. She flipped the paper over and studied it carefully. "Let's see. I think I went to the library for Herbology books before class and after breakfast... and then Transfiguration at 10. I know I had my wand there because we had to practice wand movements so, Potions was next. I can't imagine leaving it in there. We never pulled out wands out in that particular class. Merlin's Beard, maybe I left it in a different class," Avis said, glancing at the bright Ravenclaw in front of her with a worried expression. Leaving anything in any class could result in losing it forever. "I suppose we should start there if you really want to help?"

Sabrina stood on her toes, reading the schedule over Avis' shoulder.

"We're closing in on the timeframe, thats good! Means we only have to track about 6 hours worth of your day, not 16. Hmm.. it could have slipped out of your pocket, after Transfiguration, tho. If you ran or went to the loo's. So I'd check those and all of the classrooms you were in, just to be sure."

She turned to stand before Avis, her back to the castle, eyes still on the schedule as she tapped the Transfiguration cell, explaining her thinking process. She pouted her lips at Avis' last question, hands settling on her hips, as if a little offended at the girls doubt.

"You bet I do! What kind of a house-mate would I be if I didn't help a fellow Ravenclaw in need, ey?" She chuckled, smile returning to her face as she patted Avis shoulder. She pointed with her thumb over her shoulder, at the building standing behind her, begging to walk backwards towards it.

"Come on! Lead me through your day.. backwards."

Hi Avis! Just quickly OCC: We don't have the Care of Magical Creatures in first year!
I made the same mistake in one of the posts and a moderator reached out to me, asking me to edit it.

Avis was about to follow her housemate, feeling desperately grateful for her help when a thought occurred to her. After Potions, she'd remembered dashing up to the North Tower after realizing she'd promised to feed her dorm mate's bunny Mischief before her final class of the day. Suddenly, it came to her and she stopped in her tracks.

"I think I remember!" she blurted out after the girl who was about to walk away towards the castle. Avis fumbled through her bag once again before gripping something smooth and round. She yanked it out and sighed in relief after seeing that the Rememberall had once again returned to its regular clear state. Her wand was most likely lying on her bed after she'd put it there to feed Mischief. It seemed she'd forgotten to grab it before rushing out of the Ravenclaw dormitory to finish out the rest of her school day, being in the hurry she had been in. Avis smiled to herself. She might've have been a ditz for forgetting but there was nothing like remembering something after feeling so panicked for a few minutes, especially if the something was as significant as one's wand. She turned back to the girl. "I left it upstairs in the dorm. I'm so sorry for the trouble. Seems like my mind's a bit muddled today," she laughed nervously. "Thank you for all your help regardless. You're a one of a kind witch. Hope we cross paths again!"

With that, Avis stuffed her Rememberall back into her satchel and skipped out of the courtyard to make her way back up to the North Tower. Losing her wand was something that she was never going to let happen again... hopefully.
