At least the blonde bothered to listen. So he didn't think that fighting was a waste? Well... Certainly, words could also end something? They could settle a fight. Words were the opposite of physical fighting. Koko fidgeted. The preteen wiped her eye with her left sleeve, not caring if he saw. So what? It wasn't like he would attack her. "You probably are smarter than me," she agreed. He was older than her. He had more experience. He would last longer in a zombie apocalypse. She, on the other hand, was likely to be crushed, but at least the little girl would go down fighting.
Ah. There it was again. Fighting. It was worthless indeed to do so, but not if the alternative was death. She was beginning to see his point in that, so she nodded to herself. Yes. If he would try to kill her, she would go down fighting.
The girl's golden eyes picked up on sudden movement. Aha. So he was scared of her? "Y'know, I just don't see the point in trying to trick you, because I know it wouldn't work." Of course not. Only an idiot would try to trick another paranoid kid. Koko was paranoid, but nowhere near this. She knew that you could only go so far before he thought of you as a threat - if he didn't already. "Go ahead and leave," Koko said. "I don't care." Well, she did. She wanted information, information of why he had been out here so late. It was the same thing he had wanted from her that had spiralled into this mess.
But at the same time, this little girl really didn't want to be given detention. Call her a goody-two-shoes, but Koko was determined to avoid detention for the rest of her schooling career. She started walking towards him, just a single step, trying to get back to the castle. But he would see it as a threat, wouldn't he?
So she moved in a line parallel to him. It would only be rotten luck if he took that as a threat. The wind whooshed around the girl, blowing her hair into her face. She moved it out of her path of vision with her hand, knowing that it was impractical to wear down but not caring. She'd do what she wanted, and no one could stop her.

Who even was this girl? What was she? Kaegen began running through his head the possibilities, running through his head what manner of beast she could fall under. Student? Not likely, it was late and dangerous out, a student probably wouldn't be comfortable out this late. Death witch? Most likely, but she just said he was most likely smarter than her, was she trying to lure him in? Admitting weakness wasn't a typical tactically clever evil death witch move. Something was wrong.
But she followed up by saying she didn't see the point in trying to trick him, because it wouldn't work. Well, was that a trick? Was she trying to get him to be too confident? Kaegen was confident, very, in fact. But he was also young, he was a little boy who had some subconscious understanding of just how little he was, no matter how sure of himself he may be.
"A trick...?"
She told him he could leave before approaching him, challenging him. Would he take the opening and flee, or stay and fight. That was the impression he had gotten from the exchange, although even that impression was shaky. In the end, he decided to take the offer, and so he did. Eyes flashing black for a moment of tension before he turned and ran, ran as fast as he could for the castle.

This kid was interesting. He seemed to see things differently than most people did. That was something that Koko thought was a good thing. She didn't think the way most people did, either. Most people weren't terrified of household appliances, save the vacuum. Vacuums were scary things...
And then he left. Just like that. Koko hadn't exactly been expecting that, but then again, what could you even try to expect from this kid. He was... Unpredictable. Her eyes travelled the landscape, watching the kid run. Should she also run? That would be the best option. If she'd been avoiding detention all year and was now out after curfew, she really had no excuse for this. There was probably going to be someone out, be it a professor or not, and she wasn't very willing to be caught.
She found herself to be quite lucky with the Slytherin Common Room much closer to the Grounds than any other. She was less likely to be caught... And she wouldn't be roaming after-hours any longer. That was not going to happen. She just didn't want to risk being caught. After all this long, finally losing her perfect streak? No way. That was not going to happen, not if she could help it. The girl took a deep breath of the cool air, savouring the crisp taste in comparison to the warmer, damp air in the Common Room. She enjoyed it out here.
She took one last glance at the mostly cloudless sky and sighed. Maybe another day. Maybe once she was a Seventh Year and had gotten rid of her rule-abiding streak. Then she would come back. But for now, she would leave this area to the wolves.
And so she began the trek back to the castle upon the decision that nothing had been accomplished.
