Christian Club OOC

Hi all, I think this club is a wonderful idea. Prayer is so powerful and I think its wonderful that we can be there for each other. A little about myself, I was raised in a lovely nondenominational christian background and as of last Easter became a Catholic.

Hey All, just wanted to drop in and introduce myself. I’m currently studying a Masters Degree in Theology and I’m looking to become a minister some day. (I’m assuming this is all OOC, yeah?) I’m with the Presbyterian church but it’s awesome to meet followers of Jesus from all across his church. I’ll being praying for you all and hope we can be a witness to him no matter where we are. Keen to offer prayer and encouragement whenever you need it.

@Marian Lynch Hey! Yeah, I’m learning Ancient Greek at the moment, so I can read the original NT manuscripts and it’s really amazing. I’m reading Mark at the moment and you get a sense of his personality from the Original Language. I’m learning Hebrew next year which I’m really looking forward to as well.

Here’s something I’m wondering, I run a youth group at my church and I think RPing would be a really valuable way for kids who don’t know each other very well to connect. But a lot of their parents grew up in the 80s when they thought DND was Devil Worship so they’re kind of against it. What are your thoughts on how to explain to people what Roleplaying actually is and that it’s healthy and fun?

I personally have never had the problem where people accuse RPing as something sinful, but if I were in that situation, I think I'd try to explain that RPing is something like participating in a theatrical play: we're playing as someone else (a fictional character); and we clearly know that (1) we're not that character and (2) everything is just a game that shouldn't be mixed up with our real life.

Yeah, I think it's fine, it's just like writing a fantasy book, but you're more in-depth, and you're writing it with internet strangers friends. One thing I do is make sure to differentiate Marian and myself. It's definitely easier since my name isn't Marian. Is that revealing personal info? Here's some more: My name isn't Jack.
