However, Rose wasn't the only one to land a spell. As Mylo started dancing, Rose felt herself lifting up into the air. She hadn't even seen the spell coming towards her, and hadn't been able to dodge in time. While obviously not happy that she was in the air and that Mylo had hit her, she couldn't help but feel a little bit of pride for the younger student.

They were tied. One to one, each had a hit. If they kept on like this, they'd probably just tie.

Rose hadn't seen the Levitation Charm used too much in duels, since it was a little bit of a risky move and didn't seem to do too much damage. However, when they were just going to three hits, it wasn't exactly about damaging the other. She guessed it was a pretty good move, as she was feeling kind of unsteady now in the air. She doubted she would easily be able to dodge anything at the moment. But then again, Mylo would have to put her down or drop her in order to hit her.

Well, if he was going to be doing well, Rose supposed she should pick a harder spell. She leveled her wand at them, a little wobbly midair, and said, "Impedimenta." The practice from earlier must have paid off, because the spell shot towards her friend perfectly. The wand movement, the pronunciation- it was on point.

He almost dodged it though, the spell barely hitting them, but starting to slow their movements nonetheless. She was winning at the moment, but she'd have to wait and see what Mylo would choose to do.

Mylo couldn't stop dancing, they had practised Tarantallegra many many times before themselves, but had never been hit with it before. Thinking about it, maybe it was a good idea to know how every spell felt, that way they wouldn't panic in the future like they kind of were now and would know what to expect.

The dancing had made it harder to think about what they would cast next, and the fact that they could see Rose gearing up to cast another spell at them didn't help either. So as they could see the spell racing towards them, he knew that he couldn't do anything while he was still casting Wingardium Leviosa and keeping her in the air and they let the spell go, watching Rose fall the short distance down to the ground. Immediately gearing back up to cast their next spell they once again went with the first one that came to mind, something they didn't have to concentrate on and that would confuse Rose so that she wouldn't be able to hit as well. Verdimillious it was, one they had learnt early on in the year and that he knew quite well.

As soon as spell from Rose had hit them, they tried to dodge but her aim had been too perfect and there was no way they could, they fired off their own stating "Verdimillious", somehow miraculously hitting the fellow duellist. It was a very close call as they had already started slowing down from the spell he'd been hit with. And watching the spell hit her Mylo started immediately gearing up to cast their next one, not wanting to waste a single opportunity as they were tied and the next hit would win. Not even thinking about what he'd be hit with next they started thinking about what they'd cast instead.

Rose fell a short ways down to the ground, and quickly got up, brushing herself off. Mylo then took this opportunity to cast green sparks towards her, and, again, she wasn't quick enough. Her vision became a little spotty, blinded by the light.

Two spells each, and they were tied. If they landed a spell on each other again, like the last couple of times, they would end in a tie.

The redhead, admittedly, wasn't the most competitive of Gryffindors, but she was still a Gryffindor at heart and wanted to win. Mylo had exceeded her expectations in his aim and had hit her a couple of times, which partially made her think she should work on her own dodging, rather than her spellcasting.

She wanted a more complicated spell again, but not one that would send him to the hospital wing. This was nowhere near that serious, and the two of them were friends. Rose didn't know if she could live with herself for hurting them in just a little practice duel. "Glacius!" she said, watching the spell shoot towards them.

Neither of them seemed to be doing super well- her aim was affected by her vision, and he couldn't dodge as well. Her spell barely hit, just clipping him on the side, and they would soon feel a cold chill around them.

All she had to do now was dodge whatever he sent her way, and she would win. Rose prayed her vision wouldn’t fail her this time, too.

Mylo could feel themselves slowing down significantly, it was a really really weird feeling with the dancing spell still active on them, they were just starting to dance increasingly slower. Focussing on the last round of the game took priority though, whatever spell they could cast would have to be cast, not perfectly at all just enough to hit Rose, at the second they thought of it.

Thinking about it for a second they decided on a spell, they hadn't cast this one on another person before or that much at all really, but it was more payback for the dancing spell than anything else. They knew how to cast it, they had practised it quite a lot like with any other spell as to make sure he understood what he was doing, and started gearing up to do so. Due to the slow movements the previous spell made them make they couldn't get his spell fired off before Rose could do so, which meant that although her vision was impaired they could feel it just barely hit them and a slow chill start spreading across the spot that had been hit.

Finishing off the last movement and incantation of the spell they fired off their spell in response " Rictusempra"

Which miraculously still hit her. Mylo was absolutely shocked, they had expected it to sail past their opponent but it clipped her just on the side. They hadn't missed a single spell in any of the rounds, which they found was insane to think about, she was a good 4 years ahead of them and Mylo knew she had been going easy on them, no serious spells had been flung his way or serious damage had been done but still. It didn't seem to them like she had purposely let herself be hit, which made Mylo smile as that had been them casting well.

Still dancing they lowered their wand to their side, and said a smile stuck on their face. "I don't think that went too bad do you? Now I have no idea how to stop any of these spells so I might need a little help."

Even though her spell hit Mylo, and he was slowing down by the second, he still managed to hit her once more, starting to laugh. She lifted her wand, pointing it at herself, and giggled, "Finite Incantatem," she said, the laughing stopping, even as a smile stayed on her face. He said that they thought the duel went well, and then mentioned needing a little help. Right- he was still slow, even though their dancing had stopped. She aimed her wand at him. "Finite Incantatem," she repeated, and the effects disappeared quickly. "Are you alright?" she checked with them, making sure there were no accidental lasting effects from their duel. "What did you think?"

"You are very talented, Mylo," she said honestly. I mean, she was four years their senior and even when she was trying her hardest to dodge, his strategy and aim had helped him to hit her just as many times as she hit him. She was lucky that they had changed the pairings to match experience better recently, because she would hate to really duel against Mylo. Not only were they her friend, and she would hate to hurt him, he was one to be reckoned with. "I guess we tied? Since we both hit each other three times. Ravenclaw would be lucky to have you," she concluded.

Rose sighed, the adrenaline from the duel wearing off. "I just realized I have a history essay to write," she sighed. "Do you want to come with me to the library? Maybe we can get some homework done together," she suggested. If the first year agreed, she would gather her bag, take another sip of the generously donated water bottle, and then head with her friend Mylo to the library.

As soon as Mylo mentioned needing a bit of help to get themselves out of the spell that was currently not allowing them to move very fast Rose levelled her wand at Mylo and cast a counter spell, Mylo instantly feeling the effects leaving his body and allowing him to move at full speed again.

"Yeah, I'm good, you?" He asked, immediately continuing to talk. "I don't feel any other effects or things so that's a good sign! And I think that went a lot better than I was expecting, I honestly cannot believe that I hit you 3 times." He said, answering Rose's questions a smile playing on their lips.

A smile that only grew as Rose told them she thought they were talented, they tried to stop themselves from getting too giddy but at the praise he felt himself start to fidget arms swaying at their side. "Thank you, you're really good as well, some of those spells were amazing. And a tie sounds more than good!" He said, more than happy with a tie.

Wondering what they were going to do with the rest of their day now Rose suggested going to the library to study. Which seemed like a good idea as Mylo realised they also had a bit of homework to get through.

"That sounds good! I've also got some homework I need to finish so yeah. What do you need to write your essay on?" He asked, along with several other questions as they walked to the library along side their friend, happiness spreading throughout their body.
