@Annaliese Callaway, @Poppy Lytle, @Trevor Moss, @Karlie Keys
This is a group thread for the errand, Tricks, Treats and Tales. Feel free to reference the errand page for any information, and feel free to owl me if you have any questions.
It was the 30th of October, and all throughout the grounds, small fire pits sent smoke into the crisp autumn air. Each pit would have a small group of four to six students that got to socialise, have sweets, make s'mores, tell scary stories... really, whatever their hearts desired. If some of them came wearing a scary costume and others came wearing a bedsheet to be a ghost, the better for them.

Ingredients for s'mores (graham crackers, marshmallows, chocolates and skewers) were laid on a small table at each fire pit. Small logs provided seating for the students, larger logs for the older students and smaller logs for the younger ones. Multicoloured leaves, the warm shades of which could be seen in the firelight, dapped the floor with colours almost like a rug. The point of it all was to be cosy, to be fun, and perhaps a night full of colours and giggles and firelight would get the job done.

To ensure everyone remained safe, and if they did burn themselves, to provide a quick healing spell, Koko, a seventh-year prefect, stood off to the side in the shadows. She was not particularly well-hidden: her light-coloured hair reflected the light easily, making it so that even as she tried not to be a distraction from the event, if she was needed, she could be swiftly located. A silver mackerel tabby sat at her feet, content with the general atmosphere around him. She could only hope that the students would enjoy this, too.
OOC: What to do.

Write at least one post of your character being present at the event. Hopefully, they are enjoying things, but some teenagers are moody.

Your total word count (all posts combined) must be at least 600 words, but you can absolutely write more than one post, or more than 600 words. Please do remember to write at least 200 words per post per site rules!

Upon completion of your 600 posts, please provide your total word count and link your thread your sign-up post in the errand thread here.

Once again, I hope you have fun! Feel free to owl me if you have any questions at all.

Poppy arrived in a skeleton costume. Being a skeleton wasn’t her first choice, however after spending forever deciding on her costume this was the one she came up with.

At first she entertained the idea of being a ghost for the event. Yet she was taught it was rude to dress up as a ghost for Halloween, especially in hogwarts castle which is home to many ghost, as a silly costume generalizing them would be mockery. She didn’t know any of the hogwarts ghost well enough to dress up as them specifically, so being a ghost was completely out of the question.

She went through various magical creates, dragons, unicorns, none of them seemed right. Being a unicorn was a little childish if you asked her. As for a dragon, it would take forever to get the costume to a point in which it was good enough to not also be deemed childish.

She heard from a muggle born that they would dress up as witches or wizards for Halloween. She entertained the idea of dressing up as particular witch or wizard, but dressing up as a founder would seem nerd like for even a ravenclaw, and she didn’t want to dress up as some famous quidditch player when she didn’t like quidditch nearly as much as she liked dueling. She was even warming up to the idea of brook racing, after all it seemed like broom racing was simply dueling with the added step of flying involved. She still was a little nervous to the idea of quidditch. Especially since it definitely meant she would be competing against the older years.

All of that to say, she found the simple body suit with bones that glowed a light blue in the night was best fitted for the occasion, especially since she had a matching mask which had the area around the eyes, along with the outline of the skull glow blue.

The young witch was rather excited for the right. She took up a stitch, stuck a marshmallow in it and started to roast the white fully treat over the open flame which reflected in her eyes. The goal was to get the marshmallow to a perfect golden brown, although she had a poor record of doing. Nearly every time she somehow burned the marsh mellow in the process and then had to deal with the taste of ash in her smore.

She was determined to make sure that she didn’t happen this time. She was extra careful to keep her marshmallow a perfect distance above the hot flames. She could really only hope that the marshmallow didn’t catch aflame despite her best efforts. However fate decided that her marshmallow was to catch aflame and she struggled to set the small fire out.

She came to accept that she was doomed to have a smore with ash as an added taste. She set out gram crackers and used chocolate frog legs to finish off her smore. The joy of getting to eat some type of chocolate frog overruled the disappointment of the burnt marshmallow.

That was until she took a couple of bites and realized how awful the ash tasted. She wished she overfilled her snore with chocolate so she didn’t have to taste the flakiness and smoke that was in place of the golden brown crunch she oh so desired.

She addressed the group of other witches and wizards around the fire, hopefully one of them could make this situation better. “Does anyone have any spooky tales worth telling?” Poppy believed any spooky tale would be worth telling, but she wanted to weed out any not scary ones with her word choice.

[Quote]Halloween was an event that Karlie couldn't help but enjoy. Although she preferred being outside during the summer months and usually loathed the colder ones, there was an eeriness and whimsy to Halloween night that captivated her. Her mother would light scarlet candles around the house, charming them to float overhead while dimming all other lights to create a relatively dark atmosphere. She would bake pumpkin pasties and brew fresh pumpkin juice, and the family would sit together sharing ghost stories. Sometimes, her mother would playfully scare Karlie and her sister, such as when she cast a Dancing Feet spell on an unsuspecting skeleton decoration. Halloween was always associated with family and harmless fun.

Karlie felt a bit apprehensive about attending a Halloween event at Hogwarts; it was unfamiliar and outside her comfort zone. However, she had experienced many positive interactions with students so far, and she believed that an occasion like this could help improve her confidence. Her mother had kindly packed a costume for her to fully immerse herself in the festivities, and Karlie was overjoyed to wear something other than her robes. The costume was a black cat outfit made of faux fur, adorned with a plush tail and matching ears. It was easy to slip on and off, zipping up at the back, while her hands and feet were covered with white material to mimic paws. To complete the look, she drew three black lines on either side of her nose to represent whiskers and applied a shimmery pink eyeshadow on the tip of her nose. It was all so much fun.

As she swirled a giant marshmallow over the crackling flames, a Ravenclaw her age asked if anyone knew a story. This was her chance to be bold and share one.

"I have one," Karlie began, clearing her throat. "It's one my mother used to tell me and my sister."

She leaned in, her tone laden with mystery.

"There was a town called Bramblewood, situated in the middle of nowhere. Not many people lived there, and there were rumors of an old lady who shared scary anecdotes about her childhood, including one about the 'Midnight Frog.' She warned that anyone who dared to venture out on Halloween night should stay away from the woods, for there was a large swamp. Anyone who found themselves there that night would meet the wrath of the Midnight Frog.

A group of teenagers, not believing the old lady, thought she was mad! So they decided to go into the woods to let off fireworks—things that make bright lights in the sky—and they soon got a little lost. The trees were thick and bare, the ground was muddy, and the moon that had once illuminated their path disappeared behind the clouds. One of them started to panic and suggested heading back, but the others urged him to go deeper into the woods.

Suddenly, they all heard a loud croak echoing around them. It sounded like a resounding 'ribbit, ribbit.' All the crows in the trees squawked in alarm and flew away. They were left alone with this sound, which grew louder and louder.

Looking down, they saw a very large frog at their feet. But this wasn’t any ordinary frog. Its eyes glowed a bright green, and its body was surrounded by a smoky mist. They laughed, thinking the frog looked harmless, despite its odd appearance. But one teenager, a boy, kicked the frog with his shoe and confidently walked forward—only to begin faltering. His steps grew heavy, as if his body weighed a ton, and he felt his throat constrict.

Dropping to his knees, he clutched his throat, looking up at the sky in panic. The others began shaking him, asking what was wrong, when suddenly he began to transform. He shrank in size, his face widened, and his fingers webbed together. With expressions of horror, the teenagers watched as their friend turned into a frog, his croaking echoing into the night.

In terror, they turned and ran back to the village, desperate to escape the same fate. But one by one, the entire group ended up transforming into glowing, slimy, croaking frogs!

It is said that the village of Bramblewood is now deserted. After the teenagers went missing, the residents searched the woods that same night, but found no trace of them. We can only assume they were transformed against their will. To this day, no one dares to enter those woods on Halloween night for fear that a swarm of frogs will descend upon them. If you ever find yourself there and hear a symphony of croaking, you had better run… for your life!"

The first thought that came into Poppy’s head was whether the fellow first year was a muggle born. Stories like that felt like something only a muggle would find scary. A frog turning other people into frogs sounded like a wizard or witch with a speciality in transfiguration playing pranks on a muggle town to her. Yes what their were doing was so immortal it probably counted as dark magic and the idea of a dark wizardfolk on the loose in a muggle town was somewhat scary but not quite what Poppy was hoping to hear tonight.

She figured she could make this a little scarier though. All it would take is a spell, she wished she had the fire spell, so she could make the fire grow larger upon the end of the story, but alas she didn’t get to that spell yet. She had to figure out something else.

Frogs, green, green, oh the green sparks charm might get a little jumpy out of someone in the group!

The young witch positioned her wand so the sparks would coat the ground around the fireplace. She didn’t need to worry the other groups with her spell now did she? Then when the story had just finished she whispered the incantation and did the wand movements are discreetly as possible, hoping to at least surprise someone with the green sparkles that rushed out from her spot and coated the ground for a moment,
