| ===== |  opeful. Angélique felt hopeful. The rush of Muggles speeding past made her uniform flutter lightly, almost pushing her towards platform 9 3/4's hidden entrance. Or was she drawn by the entrance itself? That question lingered in the back of her mind as she worked up the courage to pass through the wall. Her parents weren't here to accompany her today. They were at work, save for her mother dropping her off at the King's Cross Station entrance and promptly leaving. She wished they had stayed, but she knew the cost of staying. The cafe had just opened, and every knut counts in the first two years, something her mother once said to her. She hoped her needing to be accompanied to the station hadn't cost them too much money; she knew how important it was for the cafe to make it past that two-year threshold. Enough of that, she thought to herself. Brushing herself off, she clutched her bags and took a determined step at the entrance, closing her eyes as she braced for impact. Eyes closed, she felt the sounds of King's Cross Station leave her, making way for the bustling sound of creaky luggage wheels, animal cage rattles, and yammering students either in the midst of tearful goodbyes or cheerful hello's. Sure enough, she opened her eyes to Platform 9 3/4 and the Hogwarts Express waiting in its place. Suddenly feeling awkward just standing there in front of the entrance, she moved out of the way and off to the side to gather her thoughts and stocktake her items. Wand, books, cauldron, clothes, parchment... Yeah, I think that's pretty much everything, she thought to herself, eyes taking in the rest of the necessary items. Hopeful, I'm feeling hopeful; grabbing her bags determinedly, she strode towards the train, hoping to find a free compartment. |
