Lucian walked ever so slowly with his mother right beside him. The whole time she was talking, directing, and overall talking his head off. Lucian had rather mixed feelings for his mother. She's half-giant, and it was clear from her extreme height and build that she was not your average witch. Yet despite such a gift being in her blood, she despised and dismissed such lineage to "Brutes." Discussing or even stating the family has giant's blood in them was considered taboo at this point. Even Lucian's siblings hated the thought and even felt their shared mother gave them a cursed life. Lucian was the special case, the only one who wasn't ashamed of his giant heritage. Even though he wish he could speak in Giant with his mother or even convince her a little that their was nothing wrong with being part-giant, he just couldn't. The last time he spoke in Giant to her, she cried. His father who taught him the language was punished, and it was clear that even slight notions or mentions of Giants was a good way to earn a ticket of being ostracized by everyone in the family. Some on Lucian's siblings were already distancing themselves from him, understanding that he was not the same as the rest of the Allum family. He wouldn't conform or contort himself to their norms. He was destined for greatness, and being part-giant was an advantage, not a hinderance.
Lucian could understand his mothers pain. She most likely felt the worse out of everyone for being part-giant. He wondered if she felt responsible, and he wondered how much pain she had to go through growing up. Part of him felt anger towards her. This was most likely his giant side, enraged that someone like her would tell him to not let anyone come to realization or know the truth. That he was to act like a wizard, not like a giant. To be civilized and pure above all. That part couldn't understand, and could only feel hurt and angry as she spoke. Yet, he also felt sad for her as she was still his mother and she still did a lot to help him achieve his way to Hogwarts.
None of Lucian's siblings came, they already understood to distance and not associate themselves with him. His father was present for his departure, but he was told to keep a distance as Lucian's mother was still unforgiving for his previous actions with Lucian. It wasn't till Lucian was about to board that he was given a chance to speak with his father. Lucian, despite being 11 years old was already a few centimeters taller than his father. The two hugged, and with that his father whispered a few words into his ears. Tears welled in Lucians eyes, but none actually escaped. He understood and felt a bit of joy to hear his father's voice speak in giant before leaving. Even though his father was a full rue-blood wizard, he studied well into the cultures of various magical beast. His fluency in the giant language was unmatched, and he is the one person in the family who stood by and supported Lucian for who he was. With their last goodbyes, Lucian could only stand tall and keep a serious stature to display his strength. Not the strength of his family, his own.
