It'd been almost 2 years since Amira found out she was a witch and now she was going to be off on her own at a magic school. It seemed like something out of a movie or book, something she only could've imagined before. There was so much anticipation, excitement and nervousness leading up to today. Her mother made sure to show her around Diagon Alley to purchase everything on her school list. Books, a cauldron, robes and of course her new wand from the famous Ollivanders. Throughout the day of shopping, her mother told her and her younger sister all about her time at Hogwarts, it made Amira even more excited to leave.

For the last week Amira had thought about nothing other than her new school and all the adventures she would get to have. She even read some of her textbooks ahead of time because she wanted to be prepared for her first day of classes. With her trunk packed with all of her things, her and her family were ready to send her off to school.

When they arrived at the train station, Amira was overwhelmed with the amount of people there were. Everyone rushing by, lots of chatter. As they made their way through the station they stopped between platforms 9 and 10, everyone around them paid them no mind as they stopped and faced the pillar. "Alright, off you go Amira. Run straight towards it." Her mother instructed and Amira couldn't help but give her a confused look.

She raised her eyebrow and looked up at her mother, "Run towards it?" She repeated, it sounded just as strange coming out of her own mouth.

"Trust me, sweetie, we will be right behind you." She smiled and nodded, Amira's father standing at her side holding her hand, her sister clinging to her mother on the other side.

Amira gave a small nod before holding onto her cart tightly with both hands, staring at the wall ahead of her. After taking a deep breath she went running straight towards the pillar and finding herself going straight through it. Now on the other side, Amira found herself surrounded by many wizard families standing on the platform beside a train with the words, 'Hogwarts Express' on it. Her family came through behind her and she saw her mother looking around with a smile. "So many memories this brings back," she sighed before looking down at Amira. "This is where we leave you, my darling. Have so much fun and make sure to pay attention to your school work." She hugged her tightly and moved back so her father could come forward next.

"Please be careful, Ami. I'll miss you my sweet pea." He said and hugged her also.

"You're going to tell me all sorts of stories when you come home for break right? I want to hear about everything!" Luna said excitedly as she held onto Amira's hand.

"Of course, I'll be sure to tell you all about it when I come home." She smiled at patted her sister's head, turning to look up at her parents. "I'll miss you all so much."

"Don't forget to write as soon as you settle in, okay? Make sure to dress warm. Oh and don't cause any trouble, I don't want any reports back about you getting into mischief." Her mother rattled off before her father patted her shoulder, giving her a look. "Alright, alright. Get on the train now and find a seat. We love you so much."

"I love you guys too, I will write as soon as I can!" She said before waving goodbye to them and joining the other students as the filed onto the train. Amira walked past a few full and partially full cabins until she found an empty one. She placed her trunk down and took a seat near the window, staring out the window as she watched the last few students saying their goodbyes. With everyone finally on board, the train began to pull out of the station to start their journey to Hogwarts.

Illowy could've kicked herself for allowing herself to run so late. Granted, she wasn't actually late, but late enough that finding an empty cabin would be impossible. Somehow though, it hadn't settled on her until just as she'd stepped up to the bricks hiding the passage to her platform that this would be the last time she'd pass through for a first day of school. This was her final year at Hogwarts...final for a lot of things...

No, no, no. No time to start getting sappy and nostalgic.

The girl passed through to the other side, sifting with practiced ease through all the goodbyeing families with her cart to get to the train; her glorified ball of fluff she called Killian valiantly riding atop her trunk. Just keep moving. Move quickly enough not to think that once again, there was no one to see her off to school. It was fine though. It wasn't worth the thought of. Not at this point.

With Killian shifted to drape around her shoulders like a furry neck pillow, she stepped onto the train, filing in with the babbling, excited, chattering students eager to catch up with their friends, Illowy settled with herself to just take the first cabin she could find with the least amount of people. Maybe if she'd thought ahead she might've seen if anyone she actually knew from her year might've wanted to share, but too little too late, she found one. The train lurched forward to life as Illowy slipped in without a care if the girl already settled inside was ready to protest her presence. The cat took quick opportunity to launch himself onto the bench and claim his spot. With an easy swing, she lifted her violin case and suitcase up into the luggage holder over the seat before settling into the bench adjacent from her co-passenger.

Illowy wasn't known for having the most warming presence. If anything, she had a reputation for being rather cold and aloof. Her dark hair was a stark contrast to the icy pale eyes that had now locked on the girl across from her. Illowy's gaze alone had the reputation of feeling uncomfortably like she was looking through a person as opposed to looking at them. Her gaze flitted up and down the girl, trying to place her. She looked young enough to be a First Year, but Second and Third Years could look young for their age. Regardless, Illowy was sure if she belonged to Slytherin already, she'd recognize her.

All the same, there was a look of wonder and innocence about her that Illowy felt certain could only be maintained by First Year ignorance of the reality of their world, "First Year?" she asked finally, reaching a thin hand to stoke Killian beside her.

I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.

The time has come. Sere Nade, who is no longer a first-year but now a second-year student, stepped into the Hogwarts Express. Her upcoming year will start soon. The girl was wearing a white turtle neck and a blue denim jacket with black leggings and brown leather shoes. She was carrying her gray bunny, Buddy, in the cage and an enchanted satchel hanging on her left shoulder.

The British-Korean girl looked left and right with a straight face, looking for an empty compartment. "Sigh, I'm late today." Sere took a deep breath knowing that so many places were already taken. In this kind of situation, no way possible for her to take an empty compartment for herself. Jeez, I'm not in a good mood I want to be alone so bad.

Today, Sere was dropped off in front of the station by her grandmother, Diana, not by her parents. After arguing -again- with her parents before Summer Camp, Sere chose to stay temporarily with her grandmother. She couldn't handle the uncomfortable atmosphere in her house. It was all started because Sere's parents had registered her to a new muggle school without her consent, how could Sere just keep quiet about it? They already crossed the line. She didn't want to go back to the life of being restricted at home and alone at school. She didn't want to be shunned anymore. Sere will only going to Hogwarts. The old castle feels more like her first home now.

How far had the girl been busy with her own thoughts? Who knows. Sere stopped right behind a dark-haired girl, saw that girl stepped into a compartment with a gorgeous cat curled around her neck. Silver Siberian, my favorite one. Sere walked closer to look into the compartment the girl had just entered and found another girl: a sandy-haired girl with beautiful light blue eyes.

The Silver Siberian had taken a place next to the dark-haired girl, but there was still an empty spot next to the sandy-haired girl. Therefore, Sere slid the compartment door and said, "Is there any room available for one more person?" Sere looked at the sleeping Buddy in his cage, "My bunny doesn't mind being under the seat. His cage is quite comfortable and he will absolutely just sleep throughout the trip."

With the train beginning its journey, Amira was lost in thought looking out the window. Her head was full of imaginings about what the school would be like, what the students would be like, what sort of magic she would get to learn. There was so much going through her mind that she almost didn’t notice a girl with long dark hair come in to the cabin with her. She watched as the girl settled in with her cute, fluffy grey cat, trying her best not to stare. She could tell just from looking at her that she had to be older than Amira, definitely not a first year. Her appearance was rather intimidating for the young first year but also rather intriguing since she hadn’t really met any other students yet, or magical folk in general. When the girl across from her finally spoke, Amira sat up straighter and nodded, smiling wide as she responded, "Yes, I am."

Before she could continue another girl opened the door to the cabin, a cage with a bunny in it by her side. Amira looked at the girl across from her and then turned to look back at the other, nodding her head and gesturing to the seat that was free beside her, “Of course!” This girl looked like she was closer to Amira’s age but she wasn’t sure if she was a first year too or maybe older.

With the three of them settled into the cabin, Amira glanced at both of the girls and their respective pets, wishing she had one as well but maybe she would be able to purchase one in the future. “Your cat and your bunny are so cute,” she said, holding her hands nervously in her lap as she tried to break the ice a little. “What years are the two of you in?” She asked, curious to get to know her cabin mates a little more since they would be spending the long train ride together. Maybe she could ask them for advice or even hear if they had any stories to share. Her eyes seemed to fill with wonder thinking about it, it was definitely a good distraction from the looming feeling of missing her family in the back of her mind.

Avis gave her mom a quick hug as she boarded the train to her new school. She hadn't been to a school since 1st grade. But Avis wasn't nervous. At least that's what she told herself. She was going to go to this school because apparently, magic was real now. She would get good grades, do great things, and be the absolute best. But being the best didn't mean having friends, or making relationships. Being the best means staying up late, not going to events, staying back and studying. This was all so crazy new, Avis just plopped down in the first train compartment she saw. After the train started moving, she got up to walk through the train, but when she got back, it was a full compartment. Avis rolled her eyes. Was this what wizards were like, stealing other people's compartments? Where was she supposed to go now?

She looked into the compartments as she passed. Full, full, full. Then she saw a compartment with only three girls. Maybe they'd leave her alone so she could get to this place in peace. She slipped into the compartment, gave the girls a curt nod, and slipped into a seat in the corner. She avoided all eye contact and stared out the window at the quickly passing landscape. She didn't want to talk. Really, she just wanted to learn some magic and get back to her family. Don't talk to me, she silently wished. Then I might have to talk back.

Illowy had not anticipated finding herself surrounded by this many children prior to actually arriving to school. Two others soon followed in behind her; though at least one little miss moody-broody who was quick to make herself comfortable in the final window seat next to herself hardly appeared to be any kind of a talker. Illowy could relate. She'd also rather sit in silence this ride, but that didn't seem the option for this ride. The other who came in with a rabbit in a cage seemed much more outwardly friendly, and likely better company for the blonde who had been here first. Closer in age at the very least.

With the grown crowd, Killian move from his original place on the seat to curl up in his mistress' lap. As he got comfortable, Illowy's gaze tracked back and forth among the girls. All of them blatant underclassmen in comparison to herself; meaning this ride was either going to drive her to the brink of madness, or it would be a relatively quite, modest trip. Once Moody-Broody settled at her side for a long stare down with the scenery, Illowy flicked her gaze back to the pair across from her, "Seventh." she finally responded to the blonde's question. Illowy then offered out her hand to the blonde, "Illowy Magnard. I'm in Slytherin House."

Sere walked into the compartment, put Buddy under her aisle-seat, and sat down next to the sandy-haired girl. She had heard earlier that the one sitting next to her was a first-year student. "You should get one, a pet to accompany your Hogwarts life. It feels so great, like I have a loyal bestfriend." She stared at the gorgeous Silver Siberian, "I love the cat's eyes."

Before she could answer the first-year's question, the compartment door slid open and another girl entered. Sere could see the South Asian combination on her face. The girl didn't seem to be in a good mood, judging by her rather careless actions. Sere shook her head in judging mode. She's not the only one having a bad mood. Me too. What's her problem? Is it necessary to express it that clearly?

Sere turned her attention to the dark-haired girl, Illowy Magnard, as she mentioned that she was a seventh-year student, "This is my first time conversing casually to a seventh-year student." The British-Korean girl put her hand on her chest, "I'm Sere Nade, second-year of Gryffindor. Ummm... Your name? And maybe any Hogwarts House preferences?" Sere had not heard the name of the sandy-haired girl. Along with her words, Illowy was also seen extending her hand to the girl.

Sere then glanced at the dark brown-haired girl and said, "If she doesn't start introducing herself, It would feel like someone's eavesdropping on our conversation." Sere didn't mean to be sarcastic. She is expressing her thoughts. As a straightforward extrovert, that was just a part of her personality.

Amira nodded at the girl beside her’s suggestion, she really wished she could get her own pet someday, maybe she could talk to her mom about it. As they settled in another girl ended up joining them, although she didn’t seem very keen on talking, maybe she was just shy or nervous like Amira was. After she settled in though the older girl across from her introduced herself, seventh year Illowy Magnard. It was a lovely name, it very much suited the girl, Amira thought. She turned her attention to the girl beside her as she spoke. Sere Nade, a second year, both of them were older than her like she had thought they might be.

"Amira Wilkins, it’s wonderful to meet you both." She said and smiled as she took the girls hand that was reached out in front of her before turning back to the other girl to extend her hand out to her as well. "I’m not sure what house I would fit in honestly. My mother told me she was in the Hufflepuff house so maybe that house?" She shrugged her shoulders as she thought about it. "All of the houses seem to have their own charms about them from what she had told me."

When Sere mentioned about the other girl who came in having not spoken at all yet, Amira nodded and looked at the girl. She had been staring out the window since coming in and Amira couldn’t help her curious nature. "What was your name and year, if you don’t mind us asking?" She said to the girl and gave her a friendly smile. Was it too pushy to ask? Amira thought about it but they were going to be traveling together for a while it would make the journey a lot better for them all if they at least made some conversation to pass the time, better than an awkward silence anyways.

They were talking to her. They were talking to her. She had outright ignored them, walked right past them, stared out the window and they were still talking to her. Problem was, Avis didn't really know how to have a conversation. Sure, she could easily have on with her family or Maria or adults downtown, but besides them, Avis didn't really have much interaction with kids her own age. She had thought if she acted hostile, she could get through this, but either these girls were clueless or they just didn't care about her context clues.

"All of the houses seem to have their own charms about them from what she had told me." Avis snickered before she could help herself. Yeah right. That was like saying that all the instruments had their perks. Sure, they might, but that didn't mean that Avis wouldn't prefer Sax any day.

"What was your name and year, if you don’t mind us asking?" While Avis really wished she could ignore the girls, her parents had nailed politeness into her head - or the mask of politeness, anyway - and if someone asked a question, Avis couldn't not respond.

"Avis. And no, it wouldn't be eavesdropping, I'm clearly here, Avis gestured around her. "And you seem to be able to see that fact, so it wouldn't be secret, as eavesdropping is meant to be." She said in a monotone voice. Not harshly, not kindly, simply as a matter of fact. She found it to be a perfectly logical conclusion.

In her opinion, Avis shouldn't have had to say that, that should have been obvious to all the girls, but then again, people seemed to be incapable of realizing such simple facts. Avis turned away from the window and sat up straight, her fingers quickly tapping on her knees, playing Nocturne in E-Flat. She didn't even realize she was doing it, it was simply a nervous habit. The rhythms calmed her down, even though she definetly wasn't nervous.

She offered a short nod of acknowledgement as the Second Year introduced herself, offering her hand as well to Sere once the First Year released it, "A pleasure, I'm sure." it was all strictly in the name of cordiality. Under most circumstances, Illowy would have done what she could to avoid all the pleasantries and small talk. But this was going to be a long trip, and it was better to make nice and just get through.

"You never know. My mother was in Ravenclaw and I was certain that was where I'd be." she commented as Amira mentioned about House preferences, "They do all have their charms though. Regardless where you find yourself, you're House becomes like a second family." she assured.

Sera then took it upon herself to bring up the quiet girl beside her, still burning holes through the window glass with her eyes. Illowy's own ghostly gaze landed on her. When the girl finally spoke up, it was all Illowy could do to hold back an amused look. Avis didn't seem too different from herself when she was that age; right down to the anxious tapping of her fingers as Avis squared herself away from the window and towards the rest of the cabin, "She does have a point." she shrugged, looking back to Sere, "Its a big day for First Years. And its can be overwhelming." she reminded the Second Year, "Leaving home for the first time, getting sorted into your House where you're surrounded by only new people; some students would rather spend their ride there with themselves and their thoughts without engaging in polite chatter." she mused, "And that's fine. She doesn't have to talk if she doesn't wish to." the older witch's tone wasn't chidding or harsh, but a practiced neutral she'd honed when it came to younger students she still wished to impress a point to, "Not everyone wants to be a social butterfly on their first day."

I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.
