The recent rain had left the grass soggy, the air fresh and the grounds empty. Most students had taken shelter inside the castle walls. Not all clouds had cleared yet but there were patches of blue sky visible as Mila made her way across the grounds. One of her friends had forced her to be a good student and hadn't allowed her to leave the library until she had finished her all homework. The ever-energetic and easily distracted girl had hated it. She wanted to move, go outside, do things, not sit still and work on a boring assignment for HoM. Anything is better than that.

Her shoe sunk into the soggy grass, as she wandered around aimlessly. Her only goal had been to escape the prison that had been the library and the torture, which was more often known as homework. With no specific goal, the young girl walked around, breathing in the fresh air, hands hiding in the pockets of her coat far away from the cold wind, while her mind became a bit less busy as it often did when she would spend time in nature. Her face felt cold but it did not bother her; she liked it. It wasn't cold enough for her breath to form little clouds, however, Mila still tried to create one. After her failed attempt, she felt a bit silly. She should have known it wasn't even near cold enough for it.

As she continued her walk, a little worm caught her attention. The little creature had been summoned by the rain and made its way to the surface. Squatting down, Mila examined the worm as it crawled out of the earth and started to crawl around. She carefully picked it up with her fingers, placing it in her left hand. Bringing her hand closer to her face, she watched as the worm wriggled in her hand. It moved around in her hand, its cool smooth skin creating a weird sensation. It was almost like the little guy tried to escape from her hand.

"Do you want to go back home?" she whispered to her hand. "It was nice meeting you-" Mila paused as she was trying to think of a good name for the little worm. She took a good look at the creature in her hand as she tried to figure out his name. Her hand had become a bit dirty due to the mud that stuck to the little creature. There were still some small pieces of mud sticking to the worm as it curled and stretched. "Muddy!"

Moving her hand closer to the ground, she waved at her new friend with her other hand. "Bye Muddy," she said softly, as she tilted her hand, allowing the worm fell back onto the wet dark earth she had taken it from.

This… is one of those days, those lazy days. Where you just feel like not doing anything. It was rare for Raizel who, most of the time, had no troubles in keeping herself busy. From spellcasting, to flying, heck, even studying for new spells, she had a lot of things to pass time with. Sure, those don't seem fun but not like she had been doing anything fun lately. Well, flying can be considered fun to some people so perhaps there's that. Then again, that's just her doing flying practice. She's primarily doing it for improvement.

Today is just not the day for some training so instead, she set off to wander as soon as she could, letting herself relax. It was a surprise even for her to find some time to actually rest and right when she actually needed it. She had grown more tired recently, maybe overworked with how hard she had been working not just for broom racing but also to keep herself from going rusty when it comes to duelling. Not to mention, the mental drain from her studies and research for spells that are beyond her current year. They have elective subjects and she might've overloaded herself for taking 3 of those. “No, I can still do this.” She uttered, letting out a tired yawn as she walked out of the castle and onto the grounds, hands inside her pants' pockets. Persistent, or perhaps just too stubborn really. Too stubborn to admit that she needed a break and would instead insist that she could get going. It won't be a surprise if she gets sick. Hey, that's nothing a visit to the hospital wing couldn't fix.

During her mindless wandering, something or rather someone caught her attention. She was there, on the ground, talking to… something, she couldn't tell what from where she was but she did find it a bit strange. Not like she's one to talk as she had done strange things before, no, maybe insane. Raizel contemplated whether to let her curiosity take over or not and in the end, she let it win, finding herself approaching slowly. As got closer and closer, she could tell who this girl was talking to and no, sure enough, she wasn't expecting to find a worm on that muddy hand of hers. Well, if you compare this sight to what she had seen during her 2 years at Hogwarts… that's actually normal. She feels bad for calling it strange now.

Raizel let her say her goodbyes to the worm before speaking. “Now that's something you don't see everyday.” She tried her best to at least show a friendly smile as this girl seems to be younger than her and she'd rather not scare her off by suddenly approaching and coming off as intimidating.

Due to the gravity of the situation, all her focus was on saying goodbye to Muddy. She didn’t know when she would see him again, if ever! It was vital to be fully present in the last few moments they would spend together. ”Have a good day little one,” she whispered as Muddy wiggled around in the wet grass. Hearing someone speak from beside her, Mila suddenly turned around, causing her to lose balance and fall down. Having no control of where she fell, Mila hit the ground a few centimeters from where she had last seen Muddy a few seconds before. She let out a little gasp at the thought of squeezing the life out of her new friend. When she noticed the little guy wriggling its way back into the ground she sighed in relief. He was okay.

The young girl turned back to the other student, her cheeks slightly darker due to her blush. It was quite embarrassing; this stranger had just seen her fall down onto the soggy grass. Remembering the words the other had spoken, Mila tilted her head slightly and raised an eyebrow in confusion. Other people didn’t talk to animals? Her mom did it all the time and so did she! “You don’t talk to worms?” she asked, as she got up from the soggy floor. From her tone it wasn’t immediately clear it was a genuine question; it could easily be confused with a joke.

After getting up, Mila realized there was quite a lot of mud on her jeans from when she fell down. “Juepucha damn it,” she exclaimed in Spanish as she shook her head at her own stupidity. Her mom wouldn’t like that. It would take a lot of effort to get that stain out. It took Mila a second to remember her mother wasn’t doing her laundry anymore since she was at Hogwarts. Well, there wasn’t anything she could do about it anymore anyways. Next time she should be a bit more careful or wear something that she didn’t care about as much. This pair of jeans was one of her favourites, as her mother had taken the time to embroider some small flowers and bees around the pockets and cuffs of the jeans. Some of the white daisies and sunflowers were now stained with ugly brown mud. Hopefully, it would go away after a wash or two.

Mila took the time to take a better look at the other student. She had been smiling friendly and seemed kind enough. Her earlier comment hadn’t seemed to be meant in a rude or judgy way from what Mila understood. Deciding the other student seemed nice, Mila gave her a smile back. “His name is Muddy,” she explained, as it seemed vital to her to share the knowledge with the other student. It hadn’t even occured to her to introduce herself; that was clearly nowhere near as important. “He came up after the rain to say hi!”

Who knew that this girl would end up being surprised by her presence. Raizel could only watch as she fell on the ground and looked a bit distressed when she looked at the ground. She grimaced at the thought of that fall causing the death of the worm that this younger girl had just become friends with but judging by the look of relief in her eyes, she was safe to assume the worm was okay. And then a question.

As far as she knows? “No, I don't talk to worms.” If it was her owl, then yes. She talks to her arctic owl, Boreas, even though he could only stare at her, tilt his head or even decide to preen himself like having no care in the world and ignoring her for most of the time. There will also be a time that he will just fly away if they are outside. Well, having his company can sometimes be a lot better than having none. She should find more time for him. Anyway, back to the girl. That fall from earlier had dirtied her clothes due to the ground being so muddy and all from the rain. If she didn’t surprised her then maybe she could’ve saved the younger girl from having to remove the stain left by the muddy surface on her clothes or whoever will be washing it. She was about to offer her hand to help her up but it looks like she got it already.

Maybe she can do something about that muddy stain though. What spell was it again? Curse her and her spell preferences, only wanting the offensive spells and not the actual helpful ones. “Muddy is a nice name.” Raizel told the girl, her eyes scanning the ground and then back to the younger student. “You know, I can do something about that stain.” Hopefully by the time the girl responded, she would be able to remember what spell it was again. “I’m Raizel by the way. Raizel Voltrouz.”

"You should try talking to worms. They aren't the most talkative, but they are good listeners! I think," the last of her words were mumbled as she realised she wasn't sure if anything she said was true. She tended to speak before thinking it through. Her brothers often teased her with it, so she tried to work on it a bit more. However, her brain felt too chaotic and busy to pay close attention to such things. Maybe once she got older, it would be easier.

Muddy, just like her hand. After contemplating momentarily, the young girl quickly wiped her hand on her jeans. They were already dirty anyway. "Do you want to see if you can still say hi to Muddy? Maybe he, or well they, I guess, since they are both at the same time sort of, I forgot the word for it." Brows furrowed and eyes narrowed, Mila was deep in thought, trying to remember the term her mother had used. She vaguely remembered it starting with an h, but that was all she could think of.

When the older girl proposed to help her with the stain, the young Slytherin tried to turn her attention back to the conversation. "Oh, if you could, that would be great!" she replied happily. "What are you going to do with it?" she asked curiously. Laundry and getting rid of stains were far from her field of expertise, as her parents always handled them.

"I'm Mila!" she introduced herself. During the conversation, little water droplets had started falling from the sky again, something Mila hadn't noticed till then. After feeling a cold drop of water fall on her cheek, the young girl looked up at the sky, noticing that a patch of dark clouds had moved above them. Turning her palm up to the sky, she reached out her hand in front of her. It wasn't raining hard enough to wash away the remaining mud on her hand.

“Uh, no, no thanks, maybe someday.” Not gonna happen though. First of all, it was weird and it's weirder that you were confiding all your feelings to a worm. Looking at the ground below and at the mention of a good listener, Raizel thought about it. She could use one, someone who was willing to listen to her problems, maybe get some advice for what to do when none of the things she had been doing was working out. Then again, why would she bother an innocent bystander to her troubles? Even if they were her friends. They don't deserve to get dragged into something that she herself had dug. Perhaps a mindless worm where even if you tell them the saddest and tragic story, they would just crawl away without any problem.

“Hope Mr. Muddy would be down for some talking if that happens.” Raizel uttered. “And I think the word you are looking for is Hermaphrodite.” She added as she heard the younger girl struggle in finding the right word to describe an earthworm. That's what she knows anyway, she can't even tell if she even said the right term. Any wild Ravenclaw or someone more knowledgeable than her can correct her anytime. With that said, the Gryffindor pulled out her wand, pointing at the stain but then she stopped. “I’m gonna try cleaning it. Hold on.” She began tapping the wand on the palm of her wand, looking up to the skies to continue recalling what spell it was again. At that time, she noticed that rain was starting to pour although not strong enough to drench them just yet. Better do this quickly before they find themselves showering under the rain. “Got it. Alright, stand still.” Raizel pointed at the stain on Mila's clothes, making an ‘S’ shape gesture before speaking out the incantation. “Scourgify.” As far as she knows, the spell can clean things so she sure hopes this was enough to make it spotless again or if not, lessen the stain. “There we go. That should do it.”
