Sophie Dawson | First Year | Hufflepuff

Sophie has dark brown eyes and hair. She is a little short for her age. Her favourite colours are black and green, very much represented by the clothing she wears. Fashion is an interest of hers, and her wardrobe is a mess of different colours and styles, most them thrifted. She also likes to wear gold coloured earrings and colourful bracelets.

Sophie is a kind, empathetic, and sensitive person. She's extroverted and extremely talkative, has no trouble making friends. She's a loyal person and will defend her friends and family and stand up for them. Sophie does not avoid confrontation, and she gets into fights sometimes. She's pretty smart but a little careless with her school work. She's also chaotic and always has a messy room, and is a bit clumsy in her daily life. Sophie is creative. Her hobbies and interest include playing the guitar and drums with her friends back home, dancing, fashion (she likes to sew), baking, and muggle sports. She's adventurous and not afraid to get in trouble.

Before Sophie's birth.

Mary Dawson, a muggle girl and single child, moved to London with her parents at the age of twelve. Soon after moving, Mary befriended the eleven year old Sophia Willows, who lived with her family in the same apartment building. While Mary attended school in London, Sophia and her two year older brother, Adam, both went to a boarding school in Scotland, only coming home during the summer and on holidays. As they grew older, Mary developed a crush on Adam. During her final school year, the two of them started dating. Some years later, when Mary and Adam were 22 and 23 years old respectively, Mary became pregnant and married Adam. They moved to a small house in the countryside. Shortly after, Sophia moved to a village nearby with her three cats, where she opened a bakery. Soon Mary and Adam welcomed their first daughter Eliza May Willows.

One thing about Adam was that he was very secretive about his job. He would say he was a doctor, but refuse to specify or say at which hospital he worked. He traveled a lot for work, causing him to be away for long periods of time. Mary, on the other hand, worked as a part time teacher at the village.

Around two and a half years after Eliza's birth, Mary got pregnant again. This time, everything would go less smoothly. A few months into Mary's pregnancy, Sophia decided she couldn't bear lying to Mary and her children any longer. She confessed that she and Adam were wizard and witch. Mary didn't believe her until Sophia explained everything in great detail. About their family, the "boarding school", which turned out to be a magic school, and her brother's job at a magical hospital. After realizing that her husband had been lying for years, Mary made the difficult decision to divorce. Adam moved away to focus solely on work, leaving pregnant Mary, Eliza, and his sister behind.

After a difficult pregnancy, Mary's second daughter was born.

Early childhood.

Sophie Isla Dawson was named after her mother's best friend who stuck with her during tough times. After Sophie's birth, her sister Eliza's surname was formally changed to match hers (from Willows to Dawson).

Sophie was always a talkative child. As a baby and toddler, she cried a lot, much more than her sister, which drove her mother insane at times. At one point, Mary even worried that her ex-husband might have cursed her daughter, as some sort of revenge. However, when Sophie started talking, the crying stopped. And the babbling began. Non-stop babbling: she even talked in her sleep. And it didn't stop as she got older, although her vocabulary and amount of conversation topics expanded. Sophie, it seemed, never didn't have something to say, and even if she didn't, that would not stop her from talking anyway. In that way, she was the total opposite from her sister.

Aunt Sophia adored Sophie, and Sophie loved her aunt Sophia. When she got old enough to attend school, Sophie also started helping her aunt at the bakery. Throughout primary school, the girl was very popular and had many friends. She had a very happy early childhood and so did her sister. Sophie and Eliza didn't know anything about their father at the time, besides the facts that aunt Sophia was his sister, and that he had lied to their mother at some point.

When Sophie was eight years old aunt Sophia gave birth to twins, and when Sophie was nine aunt Sophia suddenly passed away. This was devastating news for the entire family. Mary decided to adopt Sophia's children: two baby boys, Charlie and Stevie.

During this time Sophie had a couple small, strange, unexplainable things happen to her. She didn't know that these were instances of accidental magic. When she would tell her mother about them, she would brush it off and quickly change the subject. Eliza never had anything similar happen.

At the age of eleven, Sophie's mother handed her a letter that would change her life. She explained that her father was a wizard, and unlike Eliza, Sophie had inherited his magic genes. The letter stated that Sophie was accepted to a magic school called Hogwarts.

At a friend's birthday party, Sophie accidentally dropped her friend's giftbag in a puddle. However, when she picked it up, it was remarkably clean and dry.
