@Carson Miller ... if anyone else wants to join, feel free to owl me! @Tatiana Crane, @Mac Murphy, @Dale Kurt @Oliver Lock, and @Talia Piper feel free to jump in if you want!
Maggie lugged her trunk down to her cabin, which was really a small room in the bottom of a boat. It had four bunk beds, or really, two sets of bunk beds, and was somewhat small and cramped, but Maggie didn’t suppose that it’d matter, seeing as she’d be spending most of her time outside anyways. She did find it somewhat weird that it was on a boat of all things, weren’t these things supposed to be on land? She shrugged. She didn’t care, to be honest, as long as they didn’t end up accidentally drifting off to sea while they were sleeping. Speaking of, Maggie unpacked her Gryffindor blanket, which she’d brought from her dorm, pillow, which she’d also brought from her dorm, and her sleeping bag, which her older brother Jason had owled her. She quickly claimed one of the top bunks before anyone else got there: you snooze you loose, right? She rolled her trunk over to the end of the set of bunks, positioning it in a way so she could jump down onto it instead of having to climb down the ladder. She had the same kind of setup in her own bedroom, which was filled with three sets of bunk beds. Maggie couldn’t complain, however, she loved sharing a room with almost all of her siblings. Yeah right! She hated it, especially with more than half of them being younger than her, making them even more annoying than Nancy and Cooper. Since Jason was the oldest, he got to sleep on the couch, or more often than not, his girlfriend’s house.

Carson squinted at the letter Maggie had sent him, she’d said the cabins were supposed to be right here, but all he saw was a dusty old boat. They couldn’t be in there, could they? Well, Carson thought, there aren’t any other options, are there? Sighing, he dragged his trunk to the boat, following Maggie’s directions until he got to their Cabin. Carson had immediately agreed when Maggie had asked if he wanted to go to Summer Camp with her. He not only got a chance to spend more time with one of his best friends, but he also got to go to Summer Camp, and those were always fun. “What’s up Mags?” he asked as he entered the Cabin, lugging his trunk behind him and dropping it next to what he assumed was hers. He beelined it to the other top bunk, which he guessed was right across from Maggie’s, and immediately yelled “Dibs!”, even though she had probably gotten the bed she’d wanted, as she was here first. He quickly made his way up the ladder, sitting cross-legged and grinning at the girl who sat directly across from him. “So,” he asked, grinning widely, “Is anyone else showing up, y’know, whats the plan?”

Tatiana was glad when she heard that camp and other activities were being arranged for the students that chose to stay for the summer holiday. Sure, there was plenty of exploring to be done around the castle, but her empty dormitory made her feel isolated and alone. At least this way she'd have other people to stay with- she hadn't found a single other Ravenclaw girl that hadn't already gone home for the holidays, at least none that she'd seen yet around the dorms or common room.

The only down side was she had to pack all of her things and move to the temporary dorms. What did Maggie's owl say? They were on the.... lake? Tatiana mused to herself as she dragged her overstuffed trunk across the grounds. The lake? That hadn't made any sense. She was sure the girl had been mistaken but trudged on toward the water anyway. As she approached, all she could see was a boat, seemingly much too small to house more than a handful of students. Surely, this can't be it.

She walked hesitantly across the dock and set her trunk down, staring at the vessel, perplexed for a moment. Stepping onto the boat, she peered down the steps and into a small corridor and noticed it seemed to go on for quite a while- much longer than the boat appeared, at least. Enchanted, of course. She felt silly having not thought otherwise. Rolling her eyes at her own misjudgment, she grabbed her things and dragged them onboard with her.

As she passed each door way, she peered in, noticing most rooms were still empty at this point. Each space had two bunk beds at either sides and just enough additional room to store the trunks each student would have to bring with them. It would have been easier to leave her things in her dorms, perhaps, but this is the way things were done apparently. And besides, what other opportunity would she get to bunk with her friends, most of which were in other houses.

After passing a few open and empty rooms, Tatiana could hear a familiar voice up ahead. Coming up on another open doorway, she could see Maggie setting up her things on one side of the bunk. As she turned the corner and into the room, she noticed a Hufflepuff boy sitting on the opposite side. Carson? She wasn't great with names but they'd just met a few days prior at Maggie's lake party.

Sighing with relief, she set her heavy trunk down and smiled at the pair. "I was hardly sure I was in the right place," she laughed. "I guess I'll take the one under you, if that's alright?" she asked Maggie, rolling her trunk to the opposite end of the bed and taking a seat on the bottom bunk. "So...," she peered around, tapping her finger on the bed, "this is camp, huh?"

Dale wanted to go home. He missed his parents and his home, but his father had to go on a business trip and his mother decided to go with him. So now Dale was stuck staying at a summer camp for another 2-3 months. And to make things worse Dale had made very few friends all year long, he would have to stay with people he didn't know, needless to say, Dale was a little unhappy.

He had gotten his owl a few days earlier, detailing the activities, accommodations and train departures. He followed the instruction laid out in the letter and it led him to a small boat, huh, this couldn't possibly be the place he was looking for, he hee looked around and tried to see if he could find the cabins. But he didn't, so with not much else he could do, he entered the boat.

It was much bigger than he expected, but he didn't dwell on it. He learned many things over his one year stay at Hogwarts, but the biggest lesson he learned was to "Always expect the unexpected." He followed the letter once more until he came upon, what he assumed, was his "cabin".

He heard laughter and voices, and as he entered the room he said "Uhh hi, am I in the right place? My name's uhh Dale."

Carson grinned as another girl entered the cabin, he thought he’d seen her before somewhere... she looked kind of familiar. She was a Ravenclaw, so it couldn’t have been in the common room or anything, so it must’ve been at Maggie’s party. Ah! It was Tatiana Crane, she’d been the one to introduce the topic of how they all met Maggie. “So,” she said, “This is camp, huh?” Carson grinned, “Sure is,” he ran a hand through his hair, messing it up even more than it already was, “I’m Carson. I think I remember you from Maggie’s party... you’re Tatiana, right?” he asked, glancing at Maggie subconsciously as he mentioned her party. Before the girl could answer, however, a boy walked in. “Uh, hi, am I in the right place?” he asked, “My name’s Dale.” he added. Huh. Carson didn’t know Dale, and he wasn’t at Maggie’s party, so he must’ve been a new friend of hers or something. He grinned at the boy, he had brown hair and eyes, accompanied with very pale skin. Carson, to be honest, hadn’t seen him before. “I’m Carson,” he said, introducing himself, “and yeah, you are. Afraid you’re the last one here, though, so you get the only bunk left,” he said, motioning to the bunk beneath him. “I think there’s a barbecue thing later today, right Maggie?”

Maggie grinned at the newcomers, she was ecstatic they could make it. “Yeah, I’m gonna head down there in a bit,” she said, “But I know most of you haven’t actually met, so how about we do something like a get-to-know you game? That way we all actually know who we’re sleeping with.” she cringed as the words came out of her mouth, “Okay, that sounded wrong, but you know what I mean.” she laughed. “How about two truths and a lie? And, we need to think of a cabin name, so we can do that too.” Maggie grinned, she had loads of ideas for the game, but she was running dry when it came to cabin names. They’d figure something out eventually, their cabin was going to be the best in Camp, and they needed a name to represent that. “I’ll go first,” she said, “I have six siblings, I have gone cliff diving, and my favorite color is orange.” she grinned. She’d gone easy on them for the first round, but then again, you never know. She gave them a few moments to think, and while they were doing so, an idea popped into her head. She didn’t want to disrupt anything though, so she, got once, kept quiet and let them try and guess which was the lie.

Oliver dropped his suitcase right outside the ajar door, and sitting on it, as he caught his breath.
He could already hear the chatter from inside, he recognized a few of the voices.
He had never been to a summer camp or anything like this before. He remembered how well the party had been and thought he'd regret it if he missed the opportunity to talk to this group of people he was rather fond of. although he only really knew a few of them, he felt very comforted around them.
After he caught his breath, he stood up and pushed his blond curls out his eyes.
He peered into the gap in the door and pushed, holding it open so he could drag his suitcase through the doorway. He was greeted with smiles, as he returned them back.
The cabin was a cozy little place, with warm oak wood panels, as both the walls and floor. Neatly made bunkbeds were dotted around the place.
Oliver glanced towards Maggie, flashing her a smile.
"Hey Maggie." He said, smiling.
"You doing alright?"
He began to lug his suitcase next to one of the unoccupied bunkbeds and resting it next to it.
He glanced around the room, feeling less nervous than he'd anticipated. He then stopped a moment and recognized another face.
"Hey Carson." He smiled.
Carson and Oliver met after the sorting hat ceremony at Hufflepuff table, Oliver was quite glad to have met him there, as Carson tried to comfort Oliver's nerves, it helped him a lot in fact.
He glanced out one of the windows, smiling to himself.
He listened in to the game they'd already started playing when he walked in.
"You're favourite colour isn't orange?" Oliver guessed, tilting his head.

Dale dragged his trunk to the only other empty bed, the one under the boy named Carson, and slid his trunk underneath. As he sat on the bed the girl, whom he assumed was Maggie, suggest that the cabin play a game called, two truths and a lie? He had never heard of that game, going by the name he assumed that everyone playing would say two truths and a lie. And then uh, maybe the other players had to guess which one was the lie? Maybe? But he never got a chance to guess. Another boy had walked in, he was sure Carson said he would be the last one. The boy played along with the game. He wondered if any more people would be coming, there wouldn't be enough beds to accommodate all the people if any more came in.

The was quite comfy, not exactly what he expected from the cabin, it seemed quite homey, he expected to be less welcoming but he was happily wrong. He was almost looking forward to the rest of the summer, as long as there aren't too many things.

Dale quietly sat on his bed thinking about what the rest his summer.

Summer was in full swing now, wasn't it? He could hear the distance chirping of crickets out in the woods, singing along with the birds flying over head. As the wooden pear creaked under his feet, the fish in the water dispersed off into different directions, fleeing from the sudden vibration. Along behind him, he lugged his trunk, filled with what little belongings he'd brought along with him. As he approached the boat anchored to the pier, he squinted his eyes, raising a hand to shield them from the sun.

Was... he lost? From what he'd heard, the boat was big enough to accommodate dozens of students, but this was... well, it wasn't tiny, per say. Perhaps large enough to carry a meager fishing crew over the course of a few nights, but it certainly wasn't what he was expecting. Why, with how many students were staying for the summer camp program, they'd all be crammed together in there, wouldn't they?

Still, he walked across the sturdy plank leading to the houseboat and made his way inside. Already, it seemed that his eyes were playing tricks on him, as the inside of the boat was much bigger than he expected. Not massive, by any means, but certainly larger than the exterior had let on.

It's bigger on the inside, he thought cheerily as he stepped forward, vaguely reminding him of a certain program he used to watch with his mother in the afternoons. Imagine that. Lining the halls were sturdy oak doors, each leading to what he assumed to be separate cabins. At the thought of sharing a room with complete strangers, his heart jumped a bit in his chest.

Oh, man up, Mac, he told himself as he squared his shoulders. You shared a whole dorm with strangers over the past year. This won't be any different. He reached to knock on the door, only to find that it was already open, cracked just to the point where he wouldn't notice. Steeling himself, he nudged it open the rest of the way before quietly making his entrance. "Hello there," he greeted with a bashful smile. His eyes scanned the cabin to find two bunks, both of which were currently occupied. "Ah - I hope I'm not interrupting anything."

Tatiana and Maggie were both familiar faces, of course, which he was relieved to find. He also found Carson there, who he recognized from Maggie's party, along with two other boys that he didn't recognize. He greeted them with a polite little wave. "I'm Mac," he introduced himself with a little nod. "It's nice to meet you two." He stopped to chew at his lip, casting a worried glance over his shoulder. "Sorry to intrude. Maybe one of you could, ah, point me towards a cabin that isn't already full? If it isn't any trouble, I mean."

* sorry, everyone responded so i'm sort of paraphrasing, hope it reads well enough

Sure is,” Carson replied, running his hand through his hair. “I’m Carson. I think I remember you from Maggie’s party... you’re Tatiana, right?” he asked. Just as she opened her mouth to respond, another boy entered, one she did not recognize this time, and a Slytherin. Even so, she was sure he must be a friend of Maggie's, and anyone who could befriend as nice of a girl as that had to be alright.

Uh, hi, am I in the right place?” he asked, setting his trunk down in the room. “My name’s Dale.”

Tatiana first nodded to Carson, grateful that he had at least recognized her as well. "Yes!" she said, smiling. "Hi Carson, very nice to see you again." She stood to get some things from her trunk and this time turned to Dale. "I believe so, these are the cabins for summer camp," she motioned to the boat and around their room. Carson also introduced himself and directed him to the only empty bunk, just below his. But before their new arrival could even get his things settled, another Hufflepuff boy was bounding in, trunk in tow. He seemed to recognize Carson and immediately took first guess at Maggie's proposal of a two truths, one lie style game as an icebreaker of sorts.

I have six siblings, I have gone cliff diving, and my favorite color is orange," she had stated. And the new boy, having heard her upon entering, guessed it was the last which was the lie. That had been Tatiana's guess anyway, but all she could notice was how quickly their cabin seemed to be filling up. Having seen the Slytherin boy, who had introduced himself as Dale, take the last remaining bunk bed, she decided they clearly needed more room.

Pushing her trunk to the middle space along the wall between the two bunk beds, she removed her comforter from inside, closed it, and laid it across the top. She sat on one end and motioned toward the other, as well as her now empty bottom bunk, as additional seating. "We seem to have filled up, but why don't you place your things in the empty one next door and come back and join us?" she proposed, eyes growing wide as yet another figure moved into the doorway just as she'd finished speaking.

This time it was Mac, at least it was another face she recognized. Maggie had obviously invited all of her friends to join, and honestly, the more the merrier. Summer break was looking less and less bleak to Tatiana as she continued to meet more and more people who would be staying behind for the holidays. She really had the Gryffindor girl to thank for that one. Without her, she probably wouldn't have met half the other students as she did in her first year. Mac, immediately noticing how crowded the room was becoming, asked for directions to a less occupied bunk. Hoping maybe he had heard her upon approach, Tatiana reiterated, "maybe store your things next door and you could come hang out here?"
