Sorting Ceremony
It was a long trip, around 6 hours but it was worth it! The boat ride to the school was peaceful, my mind tinged with nerves and excitement. Growing up in a muggle household meant I had never heard of any previous Hogwarts experiences and therefore didn't know what to expect. I sat alone on the train in my own compartment but didn't mind too much because I had my book, after studying Hogwarts a history, I supposed I always knew I'd be a Ravenclaw. However when we were stopped before entering the vast room known as a great hall, the nerves took over, I'd read all about the houses but not about the sorting ceremony itself. What would they do? Make me write and essay and determine from there, get me to do a silly song and dance for the whole school, I honestly had no clue. So when the doors opened and I was greeted with the warm presence of my fellow students and an ordinary looking hat I felt more relieved than ever. Although I didn't know how a hat could sort me into the house I would spend the next 7 years in and representing. We lined up ready and our names were called out. "Layla Smith." Announced the Professor whose name I am yet to learn. I made my way towards the front afraid yet excited about the outcome. Since I was first I got a shock when the hat opened up its mouth and began to talk! After scanning my head it declared in a friendly but loud and booming voice "Ravenclaw."

September 1st
The journey from her family home back in Norwich to the castle located at the Scottish Highlands, known as Hogwarts, was long and tiring. Nabi was glad the hogwarts express offered her a chance to get some rest before continuing with the chaos of officially enrolling into Hogwarts. Soon enough she finds herself standing amongst a large crowd of her fellow peers, waiting. Nabi looked around the large room that she had been told was the Great Hall. The large room is just like how her parents had described to her growing up; four tables, four houses, one hat, one chance to choose, only she wouldn't be the one choosing, an enchanted hat is supposed to tell her where she belongs. She looks around at the portraits hanging on the walls all looking at all the new students with curiosity, she can hear whispers from the older students who watch them all with curiosity, just like the portraits.
Nabi watches intently as the headmaster makes his way to the front of the room, she tilts her head slightly as she notices a his slight limp and can't help but wonder if her fellow peers have also noticed. She listens to the headmaster begin his introduction and bring out the enchanted hat, she hums, unamused by the hat's joke while her peers all laugh softly. She watches as Headmaster Solomon takes out the scroll with the names of all the newcoming students, she thinks to herself: Magnificent, an absurdly long list...just what I needed.
She tunes out the all the noise as she watches the students get sorted into their houses. After what felt like an eternity, her name is finally called, as she calmly walks up to the stool to sit down she thinks to herself, About time. She nods slightly in a greeting to the headmaster and she hears him wish her luck before placing the sorting hat on her head. Nabi looks expressionless out to the rest of her peers who watch intently, she waits for the sorting hat to speak, the sorting hat begins to speak: Ah Miss Park hm? the first of your family to attend Hogwarts....I have always wondered what your family would be like here... Nabi hums in response, her posture is straight as she waits for the sorting hat to continue, it is true, all of her family members before her have attended Durmstrang, she is the first of her name to enroll into Hogwarts.
The sorting hat continues to speak: I must say, you're quite the enigma, Miss Park...hmm, where to put you...could you be a Ravenclaw? an intellectual?...no, you are a strategist aren't you.. Nabi hums in response once again; unimpressed by the enchanted hat's observation, she thinks, knowing the hat will hear her: aren't we all. The sorting hat chuckles and responds, Yes, but you Miss Park...you keep your cards hidden unlike anyone else I've met...I think I know where to place you... Nabi waits for his response unamused by the hat's decision for a dramatical pause as she thinks, well? on with it then. The hat chuckles and declares, SLYTHERIN!. The Slytherin table errupts into cheers as Nabi waits for the headmaster to take of the sorting hat before making her way to the Slytherin table, where she is to spend the rest of her school years. She sits down calmly, nodding and humming in greeting towards the students around her, her demeanor unchanged as she looks around the table expressionlessly taking in every detail around her.

If time could feel like it could stop, now was that moment. Earlier in the day when on the train and cruising across the lake on the blue rubber ducky boat, time felt pulled but it was still going. Now, it was at a complete halt the minute the Great Hall doors flew open.
Words could not describe how magical one large room could be. You'll know when you're in the Great Hall, Colby remembered her father telling her when she tried to get detailed information out of him. Maybe it was for the best for her to walk into the unknown and experience this for herself. The ceiling looked never-ending with hundreds of candles floating all around, being the main source of light in the large room.
Four incredibly long tables were in front of her, each belonging to one of the four houses. The walls were adorned with various paintings, all moving and interacting with each other and fellow students. It was lively.
Colby, and the group of first years, entered and were led to walk through the middle of the room where a walkway was bigger. They halted at the front of the room, below the platform of stairs that led to a long table, perpendicular to that of the student tables. There, it seemed that it was where the professors ate. Looking around once more, she saw that the ends of the tables nearby where she was now were empty. It was room for them.
Colby's focus shifted immediately to the front where a bearded older man began yielded the room to silence after beginning to welcome the first years. He was the Headmaster who referred to himself as Solomon Lear. Colby watched him as he introduced the Sorting Hat and its process. Her heart began to race ever so slightly. According to her mother, this was really when the her adventure truly begins.
Her brother, Darius, always joked and said that Colby is someone who belongs in Slytherin. In a way, he could be right with the amount of times she would do whatever she can to get whatever she wants. But Colby had a gut feeling it was not going to be the case. Though what does her gut feeling have on her? She wasn't the Sorting Hat.
One by one, names are called and students emerge from the group and onto a stool where they await their fate. The Sorting Hat would either sit on top of their heads, or get close to their heads, knowing what house they belong to. Colby noticed one of the students that went up as the girl from her tent during summer camp. She was the one who had a fish. The Sorting Hat placed her in Ravenclaw.
Unknown of how the pecking order of students was going, Colby kept her ears open for her name. So many students have gone by and the group of first years with no house kept getting smaller and smaller.
"Vidler, Colby!"
Colby's green eyes opened wide. Did she hear correctly? Was it her turn? Her name was called out again and that only confirmed it. Colby made her way through the small group and walked towards the stool. She sat on the chair and took a deep breath. The Sorting Hat was picked up and placed on her head. She could feel it wriggling about. How did it determine these things? Was it looking through her brain? Its moving made Colby's head slightly itchy, but she did not want to move or scratch anything. After a few moments, the Sorting Hat gave a small groan and immediately shared with the entire room Colby's house:
"GRYFFINDOR!"
It was definitely not what Colby had thought, but quite frankly, she was not complaining. It was just now weird to have a new identity when in these castle walls. She was not just "Vidler" or "First Year," but now she was referred to as a "Gryffindor." Colby jumped off the stool and made her way towards the Gryffindor table where others were cheering. She sat down at an empty spot and could not help but to smile.
Her fate was sealed.

There was not a doubt in his mind that he would not get Gryffindor. After all that was what all Armani's were. They were nothing else. Unless they happened to go to another one of the magical schools. That almost never happened though, so Gryffindor it was. He knew what would happen here. His brother knew, and back home his parents knew.
It was almost confirmed. He was brave enough, and bold-ish. Oliver stood in line with the rest of the first years, hearing the names called one by one. He stood tall, of course he would. He wasn't nervous, why should he be? There was no need to be scared, the hat would simply read his mind in a way, and put him in Gryffindor.
He was towards the end of the A names, when he was called he walked up to the front of the stage, in the front of the hall. To be sorted in front of the whole school. He made eye contact with his brother who gave him an encouraging nod. He nodded back, and walked up to sit on the stool.
The sorting hat was lowered onto his head, were he could hear it, speaking, or was it thinking? Whatever it was he could hear it. 'Another Armani, haven't seen one of you in a while.'. He didn't care for the small talk. He just wanted to be sorted. 'An impatient one I see.' The hat said with, a laugh? He rolled his eyes, not caring for this at all. 'Just put me in Gryffindor already.' He thought. Though he knew it was almost useless to rush.
The hat was then silent for a moment. "I sense ambition in this one, better be... Slytherin!" The hat was plucked from his head, revealing a rather shocked Oliver. Slytherin? He looked at Aaron, who's face mirrored his own. He sat there stunned, his mouth felt dry, he sat there, until he knew he couldn't any more and got up on legs that didn't seem to be his. And wobbly walked over to the Sliver and Green table. This was not right. Not right at all. He took a set and didn't pay much attention to the rest of the sorting.
How could he by Slytherin?

1 September, 2024
Riley watched incredulously as the man who'd introduced himself as the Headmaster introduced the old, tattered hat, expecting the students to believe that the thing could think. She was quickly proven wrong when the hat not only began to speak, but to sing once it was placed upon the stool.
Riley soaked its words in just as she soaked in the words of the Headmaster telling them about the ceremony. She had no idea what to expect, and the knowing and understanding looks on some of the students who seemed to come from magical families didn't make her feel any better. Once the Headmaster began to read the names of the students, it felt a little better to see even the magically-experienced kids hush up, clearly nervous.
The first kid was called up to the stool, and the oversized hat on his head would have been quite funny if there wasn't an intensity in the air. All students, not just the first years, seemed to be paying rapt attention. When the hat finally spoke aloud, it's voice called out, "Slytherin!"
The kid ran to the table decorated in greens, and he seemed quite ecstatic. The next kid was far less enthusiastic once they were assigned to Hufflepuff, and they seemed to be forcing a smile. Riley didn't understand why. The people in yellow seemed just as nice as the ones in green. And hadn't the song sang that those in Hufflepuff were, what, loyal? That sounded lovely to Riley.
After several more students, Riley's name was called, and it felt so much more terrifying being the one in the sorting ceremony instead of a watcher. She felt the hat plop onto her head, and she almost felt like it was in her head as well. She tried to ignore the eyes of the other students.
This one should be easy, the hat's voice resonated in her mind.
Riley tilted her head, almost offended, but the hat continued to speak.
Not a single shred of ambition. Some bravery, yes, but not enough to make you stand out. You're intelligent, but your true strength lies in...
Riley's mind knew exactly what the hat was going to say.
"My friends," she whispered, feeling more lonely than ever knowing that her friends were back home, in Ireland, and she was here, with a magical talking hat on her head.
Exceptionally loyal, the hat agreed. Clearly, there's only one place for you...
After minutes of tense waiting, Riley was relieved to finally hear the hat shout out loud, "Hufflepuff!"
She stood from the stool, politely thanking the Headmaster, and the hat, just in case, and turned to stride toward the yellow table, smiling at the other students as she sat. She still felt lonely, without her friends from back home. But the Hufflepuffs seemed like a welcoming sort.

Headmaster Solomon Lear,
More pleasant than he would appear.
Blue distant eyes,
what an armored surprise!
Headmaster, Solomon Lear.
*Yolanda gazed 6’2 feet up greeted by Solomon Lear* Then, she waited.
*She scanned the many faces ahead of her.* Yolanda had to wait a while since her last name was also Y, but she would never be at the VERY end, alphabetically, so she had to still half pay attention (the usual attention span she had…).
Hufflepuff, Slytherin,
Ravenclaw or Gryffindor;
-The sorting hat is never wrong -
Seen every kind of type and more!
Hufflepuff are Loyal and caring,
Gryffindors brave and daring,
Slytherins be clever and real,
while Ravenclaws learn and feel.
No matter the house.
Wanted or not.
Here we are we got our spot!
A boy ran to the Gryffindor table with a huge smile on his face, a thoughtful girl walked over to Hufflepuff, a brave looking girl over to Gryffindor, an girl in oversized robes grinning, a Ravenclaw! Hufflepuff table erupts in cheers as they pat the next girl on the head who beams with pride. Another Slytherin boy looking overwhelmed but happy. One girl looked distant and uninvolved. There was everyone and everyone in between!
Yolanda tried to pay attention but couldn’t keep up with everyone. So many kids going up.
Where would she go? She wasn’t certain her place in this world yet… what did this all even mean?
Startled out of her daydreaming, Yolanda stumbled toward the center.
The Hat was placed upon her head like she’d seen what seemed like hundreds of other students.
“Hmmm… you could fit…. All sorts of places! Hmm… think you’re to spacey for any of the houses? That’s not quite how it works… You’ll understand one day.”
Fairly shocked, Yolanda slowly walked over to the Ravenclaw table as they jumped up in applause. Scared of what was to come but hopeful she had found the right place she settled in at the table.
Yolanda Yates, Ravenclaw.

Angie's nerves felt the buzz of excitement that flowed through the room. She felt odd with all of the people at the tables staring at her. She was not fond of being in the open. The weight of the eyes upon the little group made her more aware of the group around her, especially all the elbows that pressed into her back.
She did not know what to expect of the Sorting ceremony. Her mother spoke very little about this in the time since learning she would come to Hogwarts. And if she did speak on it, Angie did not pay as much attention to those topics, instead preferring her mother to talk about her job and her classes.
The room was massive, almost like a field of red, blue, yellow, and green flowers, crowded together in groups under the night sky. She thought of painting it later (or at least telling her mother about it).
Headmaster Solomon Lear, as he pronounced loudly, started up a conversation with a talking hat. Angie had never seen anything like it, and she wondered how it worked. It started reciting a poem, and she assumed that whoever it was who put a brain in a hat must have been incredibly brilliant, indeed! It mentioned some familiar words including Hufflepuff (that was her mother's house, she knew that much). The rest merely piqued her curiosity.
While she was still mulling over what she heard and watching others being chosen for their houses, she heard her name being called. Timidly, she stepped forward, sitting on the stool as they directed. She was so nervous that she had to start thinking of the starlit flower field again, even as she felt the hat being placed over her head. It started asking questions that she thought she answered, but she kept thinking about what her mother and father would be doing at home. She pictured her father's red pen in hand, marking up the algebra papers that he would show to her later and try to explain. She heard her mother going over notes from whatever simple adventure she had gone on during the day. And while all of these scenes were flashing through her head, the hat kept asking questions.
"Do you want to be known by all? Are you creative? How courageous do you feel when...?"
Before she knew it, the hat called out "Ravenclaw!!!", and she was ushered to a table filled with students in blue and copper cheering her on. A few even moved aside to offer her a seat. There were so many people, but she couldn't help feeling like this was an adventure that would change her life.

Evelina Rosette and the Sorting Ceremony
The Great Hall was alive with excitement, the enchanted ceiling reflecting a stunning starry night as first-year students shuffled nervously toward the front of the room. Evelina Rosette stood among them, her heart pounding in her chest, a mixture of anticipation and trepidation swirling within her. She had dreamt of this moment for as long as she could remember—the Sorting Ceremony at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This was where she would find out where she truly belonged.
Her honey-brown hair fell in loose waves around her shoulders, and she brushed a nervous hand across her rosy cheeks, hoping the warmth of her blush would fade. She wore a simple black robe over her jeans and tank top, a reflection of her casual style, but today felt different. Today was the day she would discover her place in the magical world.
As the names of her fellow students were called one by one, Evelina found herself lost in thought. She had always been a dreamer, crafting elaborate stories in her mind, but the thought of being sorted into a house filled her with a swirl of emotions. Would she end up in Gryffindor, known for bravery? Or perhaps Slytherin, with its cunning and ambition? The thought of being sorted into Ravenclaw made her anxious; she loved learning but worried that she wouldn’t be clever enough. Hufflepuff, however, was a house she felt drawn to—a place that valued hard work, loyalty, and kindness. But what if she didn’t measure up?
“Evelina Rosette!” The voice of Professor McGonagall sliced through her thoughts, jolting her back to reality. All eyes turned to her as she stepped forward, a knot tightening in her stomach. The Sorting Hat perched on the stool before her seemed to shimmer with ancient wisdom, and as she sat down, it whispered softly in her ear.
“Ah, a sensitive soul with a chameleonic spirit,” the hat mused. “You seek connection and understanding, but you also fear the vulnerability that comes with it. You long to be seen and accepted. Hufflepuff could be a good fit for you, but let’s see what else lies within.”
Evelina felt a surge of emotions as the hat probed her thoughts. Memories flooded her mind: the times she felt like an outsider, the dreams she kept hidden, the art she created that poured from her heart. “Please,” she whispered, barely audible, “just let me be myself.”
“Loyalty, patience, and hard work,” the hat continued, its voice a comforting presence. “You possess a depth that is rare, and while you could thrive anywhere, you yearn for a place where kindness prevails. Your heart is as vast as the sea, and that is what Hufflepuff embodies.”
Evelina felt a wave of relief wash over her. The pressure she had felt since entering the hall began to dissipate, replaced by an overwhelming sense of belonging. She could embrace her true self, with all its complexities and imperfections.
“Hufflepuff!” the hat finally declared, and the Great Hall erupted in cheers and applause. Evelina beamed, feeling a warmth spread through her. She joined the table adorned with yellow and black, her fellow Hufflepuffs welcoming her with open arms. As she took her seat, she noticed the faces around her—each one unique, yet united by a shared sense of acceptance and camaraderie.
The feast began, and Evelina savored the delicious spread before her. Laughter filled the air, and she quickly discovered that her fellow Hufflepuffs were kind-hearted and genuine. They chatted about their hopes for the year, their favorite magical creatures, and their favorite subjects. For the first time in a long time, Evelina felt like she was part of something special.
Throughout the evening, she connected with her housemates, sharing stories of their lives before Hogwarts and their dreams for the future. There was Felix, a cheerful boy with a mop of curly hair, who was determined to become a Magizoologist; and Lila, a girl with bright blue eyes who had a penchant for Herbology and an infectious laugh. Evelina felt a sense of ease in their company, as if she had known them forever.
As the feast came to a close, the Headmaster, Professor Dumbledore, stood to offer his traditional welcoming speech. His voice echoed through the hall, filled with warmth and wisdom. “Welcome, new students, to Hogwarts! Remember, it is our choices that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.”
Evelina contemplated his words, realizing that the choice to embrace her identity, to be vulnerable and authentic, was the first step in her journey at Hogwarts. With newfound confidence, she resolved to make the most of her time at school, to forge deep connections, and to explore the magic that lay within her.
The evening wound down, and as the students began to disperse, Evelina felt a tug at her heart. She glanced back at the Great Hall, illuminated by flickering candlelight, a sense of hope and excitement blooming within her. Here, in this enchanting place, she would learn not only about magic but also about herself. And she knew that the bonds she would form in Hufflepuff would become a source of strength as she navigated the wondrous, unpredictable journey ahead.
As she followed her new friends out of the hall, a sense of belonging wrapped around her like a warm embrace. For the first time in her life, Evelina Rosette felt truly at home.

Sorting Ceremony

1st September 2024
The journey into Hogwarts felt like the most whimsical dream Karlie could ever imagine - not that she'd let her face know. After struggling through St Pancras with a trolley full of heavy luggage, the view of The Hogwarts Express on the platform was a welcome sight. It felt like the train was waiting just for her. She accepted her mother's blubbering messages of encouragement, her dad's strong farewell hugs, her sister's abnormally quiet goodbyes before she blinked and the journey had commenced. With her natural stoic expression she admired the scenery of rolling hills and lush greenery, taking a moment or two to try to comprehend the next year before her. She could not. All too suddenly she was admiring a new view under an orange glow of lamplight whilst gently bobbing along in a small boat. It was the castle. It was here, now, in front of her, under the stars and across the water.
Now was now, though. Now consisted of gigantic doors heaving open and a sea of red, blue, yellow, and green. Her own journey had just started. She padded along the polished floor of the Great Hall quietly with her shoulders back and eyes fixated on (who she presumed was) the Headmaster. One glance from another would suggest Karlie a confident and secure individual. Inside, however, her stomach was a cacophony of butterflies. She had researched Hogwarts over and over. She had been acclimatised to theoretical and household magic since she was tiny! This sudden wave of anxiety was just silly. Despite all attempts to reason with logic to her body, she couldn't quell the sticky heat on her chest, the thump in her temples, nor the gobstopper of a lump in her throat. Nevertheless, she found herself following the crowd as if in a trance before coming to a halt in front of the Headmaster.
Why did she feel so nervous? She knew she was intelligent and would be able to immerse herself into her lessons with full confidence. Her intentions were good and fair, and she knew that her parents would be so proud of her whichever house she was placed into. Even the idea of relocating so far from home was digestible! But as she looked at her new cohort innocously, the realisation dawned upon her. People. Friends. This was her bugbear, her big change she had to overcome. Complex theory and perfecting charms were exciting prospects, but improving her character and trying to forge genuine relationships? It was going to be difficult, especially when trying to decipher their intentions, yet it was unavoidable. Karlie let out a quiet huff at her ridiculous answer to her uncomfortable mystery. The company of books suited her much more.
"Keys, Karlie!"
It felt like Karlie's feet were off the ground as she floated towards the Sorting Hat, but a quick glance down confirmed she was moving herself. Silently, cautiously, she lowered herself onto the stool and placed her hands in her lap. On the outside, she was unflappable. On the inside, the butterflies noisily drummed. She glanced up at the hat as it nestled onto her.
"Hmm, interesting," the Sorting Hat began. "There is great ambition within you, yes, very ambitious indeed. Intelligent with a strong desire to learn."
Karlie cooly shifted her gaze down towards the Great Hall's imposing doors.
"A successful father, an intelligent mother - I could certainly see you excel in Ravenclaw. Or perhaps Slytherin will be where you achieve most?"
There was a short pause.
"Yet there is something that you possess... something that makes me believe... no-yes! It has to be! It simply will be-
GRYFFINDOR!"
An eruption of cheer and applause shattered Karlie's cool illusion. A smile tugged at her lips as she shuffled off of the stool. Gryffindor! Could it really be? A house filled with loyal, courageous and daring people? She fit there? As she strode towards the table, she took a quick look back at the hat, and she could have sworn she saw a little encouraging smile from near the brim. She would be okay; all it'd take was a little courage.

Sorting Ceremony
Evelina Rosette stood at the front of the Great Hall, her heart pounding in her chest as she stared up at the ancient hat perched on a stool before her. The ceiling above reflected a dark, starry night sky, but Evelina’s focus was on the murmurs of students around her and the enchanted Sorting Hat that would soon determine her place in this new world. She had dreamed of this moment for as long as she could remember, but now that it was here, the anticipation felt overwhelming.
The hall was vast and imposing, lined with floating candles casting a warm glow over the students seated at their respective tables. The professors sat at a long table at the far end, watching the proceedings with interest. Evelina could feel the weight of her fellow first-years’ eyes on her back, some curious, some already knowing where they wanted to belong. She wasn’t sure. All she knew was that she didn’t want to be misplaced—again.
A soft nudge from behind brought her back to the present. It was her turn.
Stepping forward, Evelina approached the stool with hesitant steps. She caught her reflection in the shiny wood for a brief second—her honey-brown hair falling in waves over her shoulders, and her wide hazel-blue eyes filled with a mix of excitement and fear. Her cheeks were flushed, and she bit her full lip nervously. She sat down and the Sorting Hat was placed on her head.
For a moment, there was silence. Then, she heard a voice in her mind, soft and contemplative. *Ah, interesting… very interesting.*
Evelina held her breath, waiting for it to continue.
*You’ve had to adapt quite a bit, haven’t you? Changing, shifting to fit in, though it’s not who you truly are. But I see something deeper—something more…* The hat paused, as if pondering her entire life’s story. *You crave connection, real connection. You’re kind-hearted and determined. Not afraid of hard work when it matters, but more than anything, you want to belong, don’t you?*
Evelina’s heart thudded in her chest. The hat wasn’t wrong. All her life, she had been searching for a place where she could be herself—where her efforts to fit in wouldn’t feel like a mask she had to wear. A place where her kindness wasn’t seen as a weakness, but as a strength. She wanted friends who saw her for who she was, not the version of herself she thought they wanted.
The hat seemed to smile. *Ah, yes. A loyal heart beats within you. You’ve always looked out for others, even when it cost you something. And despite your doubts, there’s a deep well of strength inside. I know exactly where you belong.*
Evelina’s breath caught. This was it.
“Hufflepuff!” the hat shouted aloud.
The words echoed through the hall, and for a split second, she felt a surge of warmth, like sunlight filtering through her. There was a brief pause before the Hufflepuff table erupted in cheers, their welcoming faces turned toward her with smiles and open arms. Evelina could see them clapping, some already standing to greet her.
She stood from the stool, her legs shaky but her heart light. As she walked toward her new housemates, she realized something profound: this was the first time in her life that she didn’t feel out of place. The warmth of their applause washed over her like a tidal wave of acceptance, and she felt herself smiling—really smiling.
The Hufflepuffs were beaming at her, motioning for her to sit with them. As she took her place at the table, they introduced themselves warmly, making her feel instantly welcome. For the first time in what felt like forever, Evelina didn’t have to pretend to be anything other than herself. She was home.
The house emblem above them glimmered in the candlelight—yellow and black, a badger standing proud. It symbolized loyalty, hard work, and a fierce sense of belonging. Qualities Evelina had always valued but had struggled to find reflected in others. Here, they were celebrated.
As the feast began, Evelina let herself relax, her nerves slowly ebbing away. She laughed with her new housemates, exchanged stories, and felt the ease of being in the right place. She was no longer the girl who changed to fit in. Here, in Hufflepuff, she could simply be Evelina Rosette.
And for the first time, she knew she belonged.
