Valentin Schnell
@Aida Mòrsgor-Ama Ellwood
Bless Valentin, he was always there worrying over me. Even after everything, even after all that had happened, he was still there. As he pestered to see the admittedly small injury, I reluctantly leaned against some sturdy boxes and let him take a look at it with the help of his wand. My face turned reddish with the flush of fury and slight embarrassment--a sensation as if I was being worried over by a concerned mother bird. "Valya. Val, I'm fine. Really." I said softly, removing my hand and then proceeding to wipe it on my pants. Oxiclean or something would be able to take the blood out if needed, I supposed... Magic at the--

"Ouch!" I yelped lightly as a freeze almost like that of liquid nitrogen seemed to splash over me. I couldn't see any icicles right away, but I wouldn't have been surprised if a thin (or perhaps even relatively thick) layer of frost and ice was now caked on my hair and that entire side of my face. Shocked, I looked directly into Valentin's lilac eyes as he pulled me down further to his level by the use of my collar in both of his hands. Despite myself, I laughed lightly. "Hey... hey. Valya's eyes were filled with tears, which I in turn wiped away as best I could. "That didn't hurt as badly as you think it did." I said softly.

But Valya pulled away, releasing me and proceeding to cry into his hands. "No... Valya, really, it's..." I hesitated. "Whatever's the matter, it's something that can be handled." Perhaps it had simply been a long day. Perhaps it had simply been the fact that Gitano had completely screwed with both of our heads even in the spare few minutes he had had to do so.

Still, there was nothing that I could do to try to console him--no matter what I tried, to include daring to offer him a gentle but full bear hug in an attempt to help his shivering shoulders cease their shudderings. Chin on his head, I rocked the both of us for a little while. It wouldn't help anything to leave in a state like this... unsatisfied and outright in tears. Besides, I didn't know where it was that that infernal ringleader could potentially be hiding. God help him if he wanted to try to show his face around here anytime soon in an attempt to come for a round two.

When it was time at last to try to make an exit, as the worst of the storm passed and the carnival music began to wheedle out once more while people took to the now muddied and soaked ground, Valentin and I took our leave of the place. There was no more to be found here for now, and there was so much more to be lost if we dared to linger for too long.

Valentin was quiet the entire ride home, and that silence and quiet was one that I wasn't sure if I should break or not. There was now much more to the story now. Much more to the picture that had previously been unrevealed.

But had we drawn aside the curtain too far?
Had the box been opened just a hair too wide to be closed again?
