─────It was no secret Annaliese was deeply disappointed with her Sorting results, leaving her with the notion that she disappointed her family. Coming from a long line of Slytherins, it was almost expected that she too would boast the green and silver crest. Clearly the hat had different plans, placing her with the lions instead for reasons yet to be discovered.

Despite making a few friends within her House, and even after conversations with her fellow housemates, convincing her Gryffindor wasn’t really all that bad, Annaliese still felt deeply out of place, as if she was living someone else’s life. This wasn’t how her Hogwarts experience was supposed to play out.

Still, there was no denying that she, Annaliese Callaway, was now a Gryffindor.

The hardest part of this endeavor, other than missing her brother considerably, was certainly having to write to her parents, the mighty patriarchs of the notorious House of Callaway, that she had let them down. Having to notify them that their beloved daughter did not in fact exceed expectations after all was not something she was looking forward to.

It had taken Annaliese almost two weeks to even pick up a quill and parchment, nevermind even knowing how to phrase it. It eventually got to the point where she just had to send it, knowing they most certainly were already made aware by a letter from her older brother.

Now, it was nearing an end to her first month at Hogwarts and Annaliese had finally received a response that morning. She hadn’t dared open it yet - thankfully it hadn’t been a Howler - but it stayed burning a hole in her pocket as she debated reading its contents. Rather than mull over the possibilities of what the letter could contain, Annaliese set out for the Quidditch Training Pitch, ready to distract herself in the best way she knew how.

Because it was towards the afternoon, the Training Pitch already contained a handful of students, each keeping to themselves as they all performed their own drills, taking care not to get in anyone else’s way. They were all there for their own reasons - either extra practice in hopes of making their House team or improving their skills or simply to get outside.

Annaliese made no hesitation in dumping her things on one of the wooden benches and taking off into the sky on her school broom. She made quick work of zipping around the outskirts of the pitch, weaving this way and that, tirelessly pushing herself to go faster or take a sharper turn as she reveled in the feel of soaring through the air.

Nothing else mattered, nothing else could touch her while she was on a broom. She was unstoppable, on a high that only came from pure adrenaline. Any previous worries or thoughts about the letter waiting to be opened were shed the minute her feet left the ground.

But, unfortunately, one could only fly for so long. After an hour of practice, Annaliese found herself in need of a break, reluctantly bringing herself back to the ground. Sweat beading on her brow, she gulped down some water and took a seat on the grass with her back against the bench, bringing out the dreaded letter once more to contemplate the act of opening it.

He did it. Yesterday he had sent the letter, after almost a month of ignoring it. Hoping he would wake up and realize that he was in fact dawned in red and gold, instead of green and silver. He got the letter asking it very early into the year. During the first week, and he had not replied to it. Talking to his brother had been no help at all. Oliver was just able to get him to promise not to tell his parents.

And he had. Just after weeks of debating lying to his family. For generations every Armani had been a Gryffindor. They only really ever married other Gryffindor's to. Any other house was preposterous. Oliver still didn't know why he was in the dreaded Slytherin house. The common room was pretty much under water. And everyone in the house was a jerk. That was being proven to him.

He had yet to receive a letter from his parents. After the one he sent. He was worried about what it might say. They should have gotten it by now, and he should have gotten a reply he thought. They didn't live to far. Just on the outskirts of Hogsmeade. Perhaps they were doing what Ollie had done, ignoring it. Thinking they read it wrong.

Or worse, they were writing. Just writing so much about how it was a mistake that he was in Slytherin, and it was just taking forever. He knew worrying wouldn't really do much to help him. So he changed into something that was decently comfortable, and made his way to the quidditch pitch.

Oliver had taken a liking to flying in class, it was pretty fun. Made everything seem so small from up in the sky. So he would go and fly. When he made it to the pitch he set his bag down on one of the benches, next to someone else's things. Didn't matter to much to him.

He left his bag there for only a second so he could go and get a school broom. He didn't have a reason to get a broom himself yet, so he was sticking with the school brooms. When he got back he saw a girl by his bag, when he got closer he saw that she was just by her things. The stuff he set his bag down next to must have belonged to her. That, or she was steeling.

Not his problem. He just went over to his bag, and was making sure he still had all his things. In case she was a thief. "I can move my thing's if you want me to." He didn't greet her directly, didn't see a whole lot of reason to. Despite the other people flying around up in the pitch, there was still plenty of space were he could put his things. He didn't have to be right next to her. It was up to this girl.

─────When an unknown boy came to rummage through his things that had appeared next to hers, Annaliese didn’t think much of it, not that she had been paying much attention to begin with. Under different circumstances she might have struck up a conversation immediately - the usually outgoing girl had the habit of befriending someone everywhere she went - but today she just wasn’t in the mood.

Annaliese glanced over at the boy upon hearing his offer, looking him over. He appeared to be around her own age, definitely a first year, but his clothes gave no indication of what House he was in. Though, he certainly wasn’t in hers, she surely would’ve noticed him by now, having been almost a month living in the Gryffindor tower.

Do what you want,” Annaliese snapped. Almost immediately, she winced internally at the harshness of her words. Despite her sour mood, that didn’t give her an excuse to take it out on others, especially random students who probably meant well. She had a bad habit of letting her emotions affect her interactions, especially when she was upset.

This boy hadn’t done anything wrong though so, letting out a sigh, Annaliese corrected herself in hopes of making up for her previous lash out. “Er, sorry. That was rude. I don’t mind if they’re there.” Her words lacked conviction, just stated plainly, but she didn’t feel the need to beg for his forgiveness. They were just words at the end of the day and if someone couldn’t stomach one remark, they needed tougher skin.

Noticing the school broom he had with him, matching the one that was lying in the grass next to her, she made an attempt at conversing to further prove she wasn’t as mean as she initially came off. “Are you practicing for anything in particular or just for fun?

Wow. That was snappy, for no real apparent reason. Could she perhaps know he had thought she might have stollen? He just let out a hum at her apology, Letting her know well enough that he heard it, but didn't fully accept it. To him, people needed to prove they were sorry. Clearly this girl wasn't fully sorry. And wasn't going to beg him to forgive her. Something Oliver could respect. Still, talk about bad first impressions. If he was being honest, He wasn't to sure if he wanted to sit by her that much anymore.

He nodded at her apology though. A slow nod, but yes it was one. "It was rude." He agreed. After confirming that all of his things were in fact there, he looked up at the girl. She looked to be in his year, that being first. He wasn't sure on her house, or name, really anything other then that. She looked to have just gotten back from flying, if he had to guess. Like him, she was using a school broom.

The girl seemed a tad nosey to. Asking seeming pointless questions, small talk as it was called. "Just.. need to clear my head a bit is all." Not that he really needed to tell her, she'd come off as rude at first. He didn't owe her anything. Oliver was giving her a small second chance, something he hoped she wouldn't fumble. He didn't give them often. He could easily guess she was just having a bad day. He could relate to that. He had his bad days to. If you asked the wrong person, they would tell you everyday seemed to be a bad day for him. That wasn't here or there though.

Oliver just then decided to be the bigger person. "My name is Oliver, by the way. Slytherin." He said his house with a taste of disgust. He hated the green colors of it, the common room, really everything to due with it. Saying it out loud, did not make it any better. Like he was accepting he was in the wrong house. He shook those thoughts away. "Never mind that, why are you out here?" He questioned, she knew why he was out. It was only fair at this point that he knew her reasoning to.
