He knew about that sort of thing, his parents very often sent letters through owls. There were many things that they had practiced at home, that he saw at Hogwarts. While this area was very new to him, there were things that made him not so homesick. Of course, aside from being excited to be away from home and in a new environment. Regardless of his complicated feelings, it was maybe natural to feel a little homesick. He missed some things about home, notably his privacy in his room. Sharing a dorm with many other boys was a bit horrifying. It was bad enough sharing a room with his twin. But alas, he knew there were some things he'd have to deal with upon arriving at Hogwarts. In an ideal world, he would not have to.

But this was not an ideal world. All he could do was make the best of it, and live up to his fullest potential, he owed that to his parents for gifting him his life, and a roof over his head. He owed it to his parents to try and do good. Not just try, but to be good.

Delaney seemed nice. It was hard to get a good opinion on her during their brief interaction, but she didn't seem like a bad person. She didn't like birds, that was something she knew. Marco watched her behavior for a moment, chin resting on his palm as he pondered his next words. "Are you afraid of them?" He asked, curious. "Or do you just not like them?" He thought there were far scarier animals. Like wolves, for example.

At her second question, Marco's eyebrows seemed to rose. Was he talking to a muggle? He wasn't used to talking to kids who weren't from some sort of wizard family. Someone was unfamiliar with magic, interesting. Though he really wasn't doing much better, everything in Hogwarts was only a bit familiar. But finally, he returned her smile with his own. "It's no problem." He waved a hand. "Everyone in my family are wizards, I'm a bit familiar with the magic customs." He paused. "Are you from... A muggle family?" He asked. "Not that it's a bad thing, I am just curious about a childhood without magic."

She mulls over his question for a moment, shrugging. She had never liked birds, at least not the pigeons back home. Though technically Delaney hadn't seen any other kinds outside of the birds that lived in the city. But perhaps it was her mother talking- she found birds to be annoying, which is the reason Delaney was never allowed to have one as a pet. Loud and crap anywhere they want and cant be trained. "No, not really afraid of them. Find them a bit annoying really," she admits, shaking her head, his question earning a small laugh before her last few words. There were scarier animals. Though, maybe if there was one flying straight at her, she'd find it a little alarming.

"Really? Your whole family? I can't imagine," Delaney says curiously to him, sitting herself on the desk before him, swinging her legs a bit. It must have been spectacular to have grown up with magic. Well, real magic. Not the kind she and Nadine used to play pretend with. Knowledge of magical customs and such would certainly have made being here at Hogwarts and adjusting to life much easier.

But then again, she wouldn't have wanted it any other way. Everything she knew was 'muggle', and there was a certain beauty in that. Plus, there was no way she could've survived without the comforts of simple 'muggle' living. Like normal sweets and staircases that are stationary. She nods at his question, meeting his gaze when he asks about her family. Only in the magical world would her 'normal' be considered interesting enough for someone to be curious about. "Mhm, everyone in my family," she replies, shrugging as she adds, "I didn't even know magic existed until a little while ago if I'm honest. I reckon it must have been quite a bit different to grow up with magic, yeah?" Delaney was equally intrigued by the idea of growing up with magic, his normal being something interesting to her.
