Finished Letter Home Solo

September

Dear mum (and Skye if she hasn't left yet)

So far, my second year at Hogwarts is going great! I have met someone in the library. Unfortunately, she got the fire side of me before the nice side. However, she forgave me and I think we are going to be great friends! Also, I really need to sort out my temper. Is there somewhere I can go to help manage it. Its going to get me into trouble if I can't manage it soon!

I also joined a new club last year called 'Little acts of kindness' It is a great club where you help people who might be having a bad day. Anyways, I met a younger year on the train here, and she was struggling a bit so I offered a listening ear. Her name was Poppy Lytle. And she like the sweets i offered her. That was a brilliant idea Skye. You can make friends with basically anyone if they like sweets, it's great!

Also, I know it is a really long time away, but for my birthday please can you send me some money so I can buy a pet. I was thinking an owl or a cat. An owl would be really useful but a cat would keep me warm in the winter and keep me company.

Dear Mum,

Is Skye on half-term holiday yet? Is so, tell her I say HI!

Anyways, I have been very busy since last month. I have helped first years, got lots of homework done, revised for any mid-term tests, make new friends, had fun and i am exhausted. Its the good type of exhausted though. The tired after a long day and you are just relieved that it it now over and you got lots done.

Also, I might need some new robes, I'm grower faster and my sleeves are beginning to get bit short and can you send an owl with some of my warmer casual clothes please. As warm as the common room is, the corridors are awfully drafty in the autumn and freezing in winter.


Also, I need some advice. Lets say you get really tired after spending a long time with people and you start to become irritable and your patience is short. Is this normal? Because this is happening to me quite often. Like i'd enjoy the day and spending time with the person or group but afterwards i'd be overwhelmed or really like really tired. Anyways, I've got to go!

Hey Mum,

As you know my birthday is coming up! I'm very excited for that, I've made lots of friends that will hopefully remember about it. Also thanks for sending new robes, they fit! You know how I love pulling the sleeves over my hand well, its the perfect length. I really miss you. I know you probably won't get this till after your work event but you can read it afterwards. Also, I really hope that dad is away still, Yes I know he is my dad, but that doesn't stop him from being a douchebag. Honestly, the words he says are like punches sometimes. I don't know how you stand him. Cause he has lost all the respect I once had for him.

Anyway on a more positive note, I met a girl called Emily Shephard and she is really nice, we seem to just click. She is a book worm, loves writing, loves outside and her favourite season is winter. She is like me but even more pretty. And her personality is amazing, kind, caring, funny and a bit studious. She is just great. I think she might be my closest friend here. Also, Simon, the one I mentioned in September, is really kind and he helped me out of a tight spot which I am really grateful for.

OOOH, you are gonna make your homemade salted matcha fudge early this year right, Please please please send some to me. I am begging you. It tastes delicious! If not then I'll settle for nougat. But please send a largeish batch because i use sweet stuff as an ice-breaker to make new friends. OOH new idea, what about the chocolate bark but with a cracked ice, kinda theme??? That would be so cool. Please send some mum. I would love you even more than I do now!!

Heya Me again,

This letter is going to be brief as I am already behind on homework, Yes I know I should have been more organised but school life has been hectic okay!

Ok, basically i know i'm going to stay at Hogwarts over the Christmas break again, but it would be nice if you sent over some presents this year rather than me opening them all in January when I next come home. I sorta understand that you are busy working but don't you remember the saying "all work and no play makes jack a dull boy and jill a dull girl" basically try to relax dont push yourself too hard mum. But please just send me my warm jumper, i forgot to pack it and its freezing over here!

Heya Mum,

I have arrived safely at Hogwarts, thank you for the extra brownies they were delicious. Its a new year at Hogwarts again. I'm a bit sad to not be able to see you at Christmas but we'll see each other at Summer Break right?

Anyways, I think my favourite subject is astronomy because I love the stars and the whole vibe of having to get up in the middle of the night to go to the lesson so you can see the stars.

Well, I was mainly writing to ya to ask if you could send some food please. And to remind you to take a break from work for a bit. I'm fine without presents seriously, please don't work yourself to the bone so i can have a gift. Seeing you happy is enough for me.

Hiya Mum,

I hope you are doing okay, I been having a great month so far. Believe it or not I actually took part in lent this year! Yep for the whole forty days I didn't eat any.... guess!! Yep you guessed it, I did not eat any chocolate. I was so hard! I noticed the temptation of chocolate was all around me, breakfast there was hot chocolate and chocolate frogs, lunch here was chocolate moose, dinner more hot chocolate and truffles- like why is there so much chocolate around me!

There was also this errand for St. Patrick's Day which you would have loved. And yes, before you owl me back, I did wear those bright green socks Aunty knitted, and yes they were incredibly itchy just like you said.

Nothing more to add really, classes are going fine, I'm eating fine. Try not to work to hard without me there mum!

Hi Mum,

It happened again. I let my anger take control again. This time I left quickly after yelling at them. But I feel so bad about it, I cried in the library about it. Luckily Simon.....I have told you about him right? Well Simon Kincaid is really nice, his an older year hufflepuff and is really good at listening to problems. Anyways, he was really nice and helped me through my almost panic attack.

Classes are going great, I got another Outstanding in my homework. Just start calling me a genius already. That's my sixth Outstanding so far in Hogwarts and my first this school year! And for my excellent hard work, you should stop working and meet me at the station for Summer break. I miss you tons! Hopefully you aren't being run ragged by your new boss.

Well I should go now, some defence against the darks pages to read before bed. Night!

Hey Mum!!

I've had a great month. I've probably eaten so much chocolate the Easter Bunny is jealous. I spent my own money on it don't you worry! I've danced in the rain and made a new friend, Eria? No..Eornaria? No..... Oh yes, her name was Eonaria Kabukimono, she was very nice. She's like me, she likes to do weird and wonderful things too. Oh yeah- it rained super heavily and the beautiful smell of petrichor came, the earthy, warm, fragrant smell. Like pine and wood, like peace and quiet.

How can anyone run from rain its so pretty? Sorry, lost my trail of thought. I was owling you to ask if you could send some baked cookies again. It just seems like the perfect time for them. And I could give it to my older friends who are doing their testing season.

I'll do extra chores when I get back, just please please please send some cookies when you are not busy with work. I would make them here, but it just wouldn't be the same- its not with the special almond flour.

Please respond to my owls. I know work is busy, but it seriously can't be that busy to not have two minutes to write a quick owl back to say "wow that's great sweetie". Look, i get it, you have to work hard to get paid, to pay for the house and stuff since dad left. But mum, seriously, you are going to burn out severely if you keep going like this.

I know you, as Skye and I aren't there you've been working nine till three in the morning haven't you. Drinking coffee to stay up and functional. Yes, I do know, you think you hide it well but you don't mum.

I'm worried mum. I really am. Just.....Please try to respond soon. And if you haven't responded by next month, I'm owling Skye and getting her to stay round yours during her university half-term.
