It was one of those days that Cash could dubbed as a miracle. It was one of those days that Cash could just relax and continue what they had been reading these past couple of months. With the bustling and hustling of classes, school coursework, or whatever the student choice of extracurriculars within the Hogwarts Castle walls, Cash had find time between the chaos.

The first game of Quidditch of the year had been long gone. The house of Slytherin triumphed over the house of Gryffindor and the green eyes could not be more prouder of their teammate's hard work and tenacity. But that was that. Now, as Cash had some downtime and all of their assignment had been worked on, a change of scenery was what the young Ironwoods longed for.

After making sure everything was in order back in their dorm and study desk, Cash grabbed their enchanted satchel and pushed open the door. And just like a bored little puppy, their lovely black and yellow Emerald Gazer snake followed them from behind. It had been a bad habit of the former Prefect of Slytherin that they loved to find someplace that served peace no matter how far the location from where Slytherin house was located.

After a lengthy walk later, Cash arrived at the designated place that they had in their mind. Marching toward their favorite place on the Ground which is under the Oak tree, Cash parked themselves. They opened their enchanted satchel and rummaged it for a brief second to find the book among the cluttering things inside that magical bag.

Once Cash found it, they cracked open the book and continued reading where they had been left off. While some of their peers still didn't know what they wanted to be in life after Hogwarts, Cash had known what they wanted to be ever since they were in their fourth year. Being a Healer. Just like their mother.

Ever since their green eyes told their grandparents (from their mother's side) what the young socialite aspired to be when they grew up, their grandparents had been sending them all books and journals that were medically related. Whether it was magical medical-related books or medical journals that had been written by various doctors, researchers, and surgeons of the muggle world.

Cash messaging the back of their neck when that body part become sore because their head had been bend down while absorbing the knowledge between the lines and texts. The soft breeze that gently touched Cash's shoulder-length hair was a welcome sensation as the day slowly changed into dusk.

Cash looked beside their feet where Aero had curled up - probably napping - while waiting for Cash to finish up their reading session. The green eyes leaned back as they rested their head against the tree trunk. They took out their reading glasses. Then massaged the bridge of their nose as they closed their eyes to give their tired eyes a little break before continuing to read some more pages while waiting for dinner time to come around.

Just because Cash has a snake as a pet, does not mean you could assume that they are Parsel unless Cash told you. The only ones that know Cash is indeed a Parsel are A.S.P kids, Henry Knight,
Starlee Kennedy and unfortunately, Samantha Salwis.

Parselmouth is in bold black.
Kiana didn't venture out often. She preferred to stay indoors, where she could drown in books and paper and comics and all that fun stuff and nobody would bother her. While most other peopled mooned about "the great outdoors," Kiana preferred "the great indoors." And at some point maybe it was bad for her health, but did she care? Not at all. This time, however, she forced herself to take a walk at the grounds, just so she didn't wither and dry up like an old plant. The weather was rather pleasant, balmy with a light breeze that felt like a gentle caress on her cheek. She made sure to check her surroundings regularly as if she were some sort of thief on a mission. It wasn't like that - she just wanted to make sure she didn't accidentally run into an extroverted Gryffindor of some sort. She'd rather sink into the void than start a conversation. So far, so good. No people. Some loud first years were approximately eight yards away, but they were preoccupied with their games. As she made her way to a particularly pleasant-looking clearing adorned with a few trees here and there, she noticed a speck in the distance. Ah, great.

This was Kiana's usual spot. Whenever she went outside (which she didn't do often, as she's made abundantly clear), she would retreat to her designated quiet spot where she was certain nobody would bother her. This was the least visible spot, so she doubted any students even knew it existed. But as she stood there, blinking like an idiot, there was no doubt that her usual spot was taken. The girl occupying it looked to be older than her, roughly fifteen. And now Kiana was faced with the most difficult dilemma of all. She couldn't just kick the girl out of the spot, so she shuffled closer nervously. She was going to hide behind a neighboring tree and go about her business when she noticed the snake.

Yes, it was a snake. It had to be. Curled up next to the older girl was a real snake. Kiana had never before seen a Hogwarts student with a snake before - she didn't know they were allowed to have those as pets. Then again, Kia never quite bothered to interact with the rest of society. Seeing the snake reminded her of her old "friend" from when she was a young girl - a kind snake she'd lovingly named "Mobius." Oh boy, she missed Mobius. Sentiment.

All of a sudden she found herself approaching the older girl. Were her limbs even her own anymore? This was against every rule in the guidebook "How to be Kia." This was a violation of her number-one rule - stay far away from people. You hate social interaction.

"Cute snake."

Cash's initial plan was to rest their eyes for a brief moment to give their tired brain and eyes a little break. But then the gentle breeze that blowing in the Ground, lulled them to sleep. They did not know someone approached them until; Aero was the one who noticed the other person went toward the duo.

The snake could sense some movement that wasn't coming from his napping master under the tree. Aero opened and blinked his yellow eyes. His short nap had been forgotten by the new arrival. He looked up at the girl. Thank you and hello he said as he opened his mouth and hissed. He didn't know whether the girl could speak to him or not but he sure needed to try it.

What's your name? The black and yellow snake asked. While waiting for the girl to answer him, the snake looked at Cash with sadness in his eyes. His master never fully told him but Aero was an observant pet. Ever since Cash had lost a lot of people that they cared about, his young master closed off and did not trust anyone.

Except him. Thus, during those years of loneliness - for Cash, not him - Aero always pushed Cash to be more social like how they used to be. He had watched his master smile fully in the past years. He shared their triumphed when Cash became a Prefect once. He felt proud of his master when the green eyes had the Slytherin Duelling captaincy title e under their belt.

But something has shifted. Slowly Cash lost everything. Not at once but gradually. Their shiny Prefect badge no longer adorned the lapel of their school uniform or wherever Cash could stick that badge on the fabric that they wore. Then their spot in the school newspaper. Cash loved being a part of community and society although they never said it out loud.

Headliner had been their joy and pride ever since they had been accepted in it. Next, losing the captaincy of Duelling. Cash did not make a big deal out of it since they just helped the team with strategies behind the line. The last nail that hit Cash's figurative coffin was when they lost their position and spot in the Quidditch team.

Aero had met Cash that summer when the green eyes were in their third year and adopted him from the Menagerie. During those years Aero had ample of time watching Cash play from Slytherin's Quidditch locker room. Though it wasn't allowed to bring a pet during those games, but Cash loved to sneak him in. His master was talented. Gifted even when it comes to Quidditch.

Quidditch had been the Ironwoods' family legacy. Their father played it and so does their mother. Aero could say Cash was breathed and lived for Quidditch. The sport had run course and embedded in their blood. In every cell, gene, and soul of Cas's body. Now, Cash had nothing that they prided in, Aero could feel and see that his master become an empty hollow of a shell.

Cash just moved from their day-to-day activities, mindless. Almost looked like a robot. A zombie even. And Aero feels sad for his master. And so, from Cash's third year up to this day, he feels the obligation to push Cash to have more friends and feel alive again. The snake expanded his body like he was taking a deep breath before he slithers to his still-napping owner.

Cash he called out. The green eyes were still deep in their napping. Cassie Aero said. He knows Cash hated that name but Cash still wasn't budged. Cassandra. Phoenix he called out once more but there was no movement except the soft rise and fall of Cash's chest that indicated the young Ironwoods breathing.

Bloody hell! Aero cursed under his breath. Then a glint of mischief shone in his eyes. Sneakily, Aero climbed up to Cash's shoulders. He then wrapped his body around Cash's neck and squeezed the life out of his master. Cash's green eyes snapped open when they felt air had been robbed from their lungs as their lungs burned up.

They coughed violently as they frantically clawed Aero away from their neck. Their face was pale and slightly blue because of the lack of oxygen that entered their brain and head. "Bloody hell! What the fuck do you think you were doing?"They cursed out. Seething in anger. Aero wunked at them like he was the most innocent snake in the world.

Then Cash realized something was off. A shadow blocked them as the sun started to dip over the horizon. Slowly, Cash lifted their gaze from the annoying cheeky snake that curled up on Cash's feet like nothing had happened. Cash swallowed hard and hopefully, the girl did not realize that they were Parsel.

If the girl realized it, Cash could feel there was no way they could deny it. Or maybe, Cash could insist the young girl that stood in front of them is crazy and hearing things. Cash shot their deathly glare at Aero but the snake closed his eyes once again like what he did to Cash a mere minutes ago was a normal thing to do.

Her first thought was, "what an odd pair." When she arrived, the girl seemed blissfully asleep. Rats. It was the worst possible time to show up, and quite embarrassing too - imagine walking up to someone and saying hi, only to realize that they can't hear you. At least there was no one else around, which served to somewhat nullify Kia's embarrassment. She began to weigh her options - perhaps it was best to simply walk away and pretend nothing happened, find another tree and catch up on some schoolwork. Then the snake began to speak to her. Of course it came as no surprise to Kiana - she was a parselmouth, of course. But even after knowing that fact for nearly 3 years now, she still couldn't get used to it. The snake thanked her and asked for her name. She contemplated whether she should respond or play dumb.

"My name is Kiana - Kiana Nakamura. But just call me Kiana," she responded, thrilled to be conversing with a snake. "What about you?"

Kiana watched with fascination as the snake began nudging at its sleeping master, trying every way to wake her up. "It's fine - if she's asleep, I'll leave her be," Kiana suggested, "Just thought I'd say hi."

Within the snake's beady eyes, Kiana noticed a faint glimmer. Sadness? Nostalgia? She couldn't quite pinpoint it. But while she still hadn't adjusted to speaking to snakes, she was well aware that creatures like them had emotions and feelings too. Perhaps this snake has endured rough rides with its master. Perhaps there are more to come. Then the snake began to wrap itself around the girl's neck and Kiana began to wonder if she should gently remove the snake, for fear that it might accidentally strangle the girl. But this snake was her companion, surely he knew what he was doing. Right...?

The girl woke up with a start, cursing with what sounded like a hiss. A hiss? Was she...? Kiana chose to ignore that.

"Hey."
