Charlotte woke up a little earlier than usual and saw the sun was barely up. She had been waiting for this day to happen for a long time now, and could hardly contain her excitement. Today was her first Herbology lesson, and all her supplies were neatly stacked in her bag. She sat in her bed and pulled it in front of her, opening it delicately and checked, once again that everything was there.

She got up and headed to the Great Hall for breakfast. Unsurprisingly, only a few students and professors were eating, and Charlotte had the whole half of the Hufflepuff table to herself. She enjoyed the calmness as she ate her porridge and got up soon enough, heading to the grounds.

For a moment, she thought about heading back to the common room, as there still was an entire hour before the class even started. Nonetheless, she walked towards the greenhouses and sat, leaning on the foggy glass. She got her herbarium out and started drawing the plants she had found the other day. She frowned, wondering when she could finally put in some magical plants in there, the dandelions and poppies were nice but...

Soon enough, the sound of a student approaching hit her and she stood up, packing her notebook and pencils as she looked in the distance. She squinted as she looked for the student, tilting her head sideways. Finally, in the distance, she saw a young girl, her long blond hair bellowing in her back and although the girl was pretty far away, she managed to see she was a Ravenclaw. Eager to meet a classmate of hers, she waited patiently, a smile on her face for the girl to come.

Emmeline had gone to sleep the night before, excited for the next day. This was her first Herbology class, and she was yet to explore the greenhouses.
Gardening was one of her favorite activities from home, and maybe this could even help cure her homesickness.

She had woken up extra early that morning, and for the first time, was excited to go to class. She would probably be the first person there, she thought to herself. This would give her a little time to scope out the situation, and to look around the greenhouses.

The walk down to the greenhouses was very peaceful, and Emmeline loved every bit of it. The birds were singing, and the grass was still dewy. The surroundings of Hogwarts were absolutely beautiful, and it might be the best part of the school in Emmelines opinion.

Entering the classroom, she was immediately disappointed. The smile that had been on her face beforehand, was now wiped off completely. Emmeline wasn't exactly a big fan of things not going the way she had planned.

Sitting at one of the tables, was a Hufflepuff girl with shoulder-length hair who was staring right at her. Emmeline immediately froze, as she wasn't really that good with people, and had expected to be alone for quite sometime before the rest of the class arrived. She didn't mean to come off as rude, but sometimes she just couldn't help it.

She kind of felt bad, when she saw the girl was smiling at her. To avoid all awkwardness, Emmeline went and sat down next to her.

"Hi..." She said, biting her lip. "I'm Emmeline. And you are?"

I'm so sorry for the late response!
To her surprise, the girl seemed somewhat annoyed to see someone sitting here, in the greenhouse.
Maybe, just like Charlotte, she was hoping to spend a little time alone? That seemed like the most plausible explanation, but maybe she had other reasons. She bore a friendly smile nonetheless, hiding her irritation as the girl sat next to her.

"Hi..." She said, biting her lip. "I'm Emmeline. And you are?"

Charlotte held her hand, still smiling seeing the girl's genuine effort to stay polite.
'I'm Charlotte Cadunt' her eyes squinting from smiling 'Nice to meet you. I'm sorry, surely you hoped to have a little time alone before class?' she said as she tucked her hair behind her ear.

Charlotte didn't really know what to do. Should she try and have a conversation with the girl, or simply go back to what she was doing? She was about to take her herbarium back out of her bag as she saw a whole group of students walking towards the greenhouse, followed by their professor.
Well, that'll save us from an unwanted and awkward conversation, she thought to herself.

Rapidly enough, the class separated into groups of two, and Charlotte hurried out of her seat, her book not quite packed neatly into it. A few seconds went by and the students glanced at each other, not really wanting to take the first step and ask another person to team up with them, and Charlotte did not want to do it either. She soon realised everyone had paired up and the only to students that were left were Charlotte, and Emmeline.

It can't be that bad, right? Even though they had got off on the wrong foot, it didn't mean they weren't gonna spend a nice herbology lesson… Whatever happened, Charlotte wasn't going to let anything get in the way of making this lesson boring or annoying. She took a deep breath as she turned to face the Ravenclaw girl once more, a gentle smile spreading across her face.

'Shall we go sit back there?'she said, pointing at a table right by the windows, a few plants bending slightly over it. Charlotte understood soon enough why no one had picked these seats. The plants were right in front of their noses and they had to constantly push it aside, before it came back into its original position. Before the lesson had started, Charlotte was actually impatiently for it to end. To add to all this nightmare, the sun shone through the thick branches of the Whomping Willow, right into their eyes, forcing them to squint and hold their hand above them.
