This is exciting...
As soon as the day to leave for Hogwarts arrived, he had never been more excited. However with that excitement also came a sort of feeling of uncertainty. It was normal after all. It was his first year and emotions were running high. He didn't know what to expect of this upcoming experience and whatever he knew of the wizarding school was making him both anxious to get there quicker and see for himself, as well as slightly timid.
Nonetheless, the time arrived, and as he was led to the train by his parents and bid goodbye he got in starting to look for an empty compartment coach. Sure Eric knew it wouldn't be empty for long, but it was a start, alright? Once he put his luggage above the seat and made himself comfortable, he sat by the window looking at the people starting to get on the train as well. It was a busy day, for good reason. He caught a glimpse of his parents who waved at him before he waved back smiling a bit.
Well, this journey was about to start as the train started moving, the platform filling up with steam giving it an even more magical look than it already had. For now, this compartment remained empty, with only Eric in it, and he was not complaining as he leaned a bit against the window, took a book started to read from it.

This is exciting...
He look at the red train with wonder ind his eyes and a soft smile on his lips, it was finely happening he was going of to hogwarts it felt like he had waited for this moment forever.
He look at his mom to say his goodbye's before lifting his trunk op and walk fast into the train and trying to avoid the difference people walking around already, it was harder then he expected to not get ran over it ended with him pretty much stumbling into a random compartment.
He blow some hair away from his face and look out the compartment with narrow eyes wondering if he should brave it again or just stay where he was, he sigh and looked into the compartment for the first time and saw another person there already "oh, it it okay I sit here?" he ask with a smile on his lips and shifted his weight from on leg to the other.

This is exciting...
Eric raised his gaze looking at the red haired stranger before nodding."Feel free to. No one showed up here yet so, all free spaces." And with that he returned to his book, for now ignoring the stranger as he seemed to make himself comfortable in the compartment. It was only after about 40 or so minutes that he raised his gaze looking at the boy.
Eric didn't want to seem....cold or mean by just ignoring the other kid, so he tried to make some light conversation here if anything for the sake of formality, and of the fact that they would be in the same compartment for what was essentially 8 to 9 hours. "First year as well?" It was mostly a guess based on the fact that they seemed to be about the same age. So at most second year if the first year was not the right option, Eric thought. Still aside from the question he seemed to either wait for the other to continue this conversation or stop there, at least for now.
He did move a bit from his spot, mostly to get to the luggage he put above a while ago, taking it down again and taking a few stuff out of it, some of the books he bought in preparation for classes and whatnot. He wouldn't really understand much now, but he had to keep busy somehow...and the train ride was a long one ahead.

This is exciting...
He tog a book out from his trunk before he planted it up where it need to go before he fell into the seat a little to heavily "thanks you, it chaos out there, at the moment and I dont think I would have the energi to fight my way though it" he ended it with a soft chuckle and open his hogwarts a history it would now be his 6 time reading it but he love it to much not to do it again so soon after ending it and it seems fitting to read it again. He enjoy the soft sound of the turning of the page and the hum of people just outside the compartment it was a great background noise to really get lost in the book
He didn't even realise how much time had past before he heard the other boy ask a question and he may have jump a little, he look up over the book "Yes, I really can't wait to get started with everything.... What house are you hoping for?" he ask and put the book down a little to pay full attention to what the other boy would say.

This is exciting...
"Slytherin. My family all have been sorted into that house, so I am hoping for the same." In a way, he didn't want to somehow disappoint his parents. It was not that him getting sorted in another house, for certain would disappoint them, but then again what if it would?And then again...what if it wouldn't? What if it doesn't matter as long as he studies well, and has good results and is in the top? Slytherin, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw...whatever it would be...it would be. Not like he had a choice. The hat decided everything, through Legilimency and reading one's mind, that much he knew.
"But I guess if it were another house, I wouldn't mind it that much. he added after a few moments of being deep in thought. Overall he had his achievements for the year in mind already.

"The Dark Forces: A guide to Self-Protection". He planned to at least go through this once while on the way to the school, even if he was not familiar with anything in there.
"What about you?" he seemed to pause there yet again, before adding. "Name's Eric by the way." Alright, now at least he introduced himself. Since that was forgotten earlier when starting the discussion, so with that done, once again silence fell as he waited for the other boy to answer what house he hoped to be sorted into.

he nodded along with what the other boy was saying "then I hope you get into the house you want", he knew sone family's had a long tradition about what house they was sorted into his did not follow a specific tradition about it, his mother had been Hufflepuff and his father Gryffindor,if he remembered right his grandpa was slytherin but he was not to sure about that they did not talk to him much so he could have been Ravenclaw for all Mave knew.
"Ravenclaw but I would not mind Slytherin to as long as there not to much chaos in the common room" he look away from the other boy back to the book he had been reading and op igen when he finally had a name for the bo, he smiled a little bigger "Hellgrim, Mave Hellgrim" he look towards the window before looking around again then he finally settled back on Eric "what classes are you most excited for? I'm looking forward to transfiguration" he signed softy and put the book down on the seat next to him, he rather talk to Eric then read it made him not over think to much about how the year will look like now it really happen, his biggest hope was he could find just one friend to spend his time studying with or just spend time with

Ok that got his attention it seemed. "Transfiguration sounds like it is going to be quite nice. I can't wait for defense against the dark arts though. Oh and care for magical creatures, but that is going to be way later. Year 3 I heard a few of the others say. Oh and flying, duelling, frankly everything sounds interesting." Well it was most likely because this was the first year, everything seemed exciting and cool now. And maybe it will keep being so even later on.
For the next 3 or so hours him and Mave talked about classes, wondered how it is all going to be, shared interests and hobbies. Favorite books on magic and what they will do as the years will continue. It was as if time was passing much easier, and even talking with Mave seemed quite easy, natural. As if they were clicking right and being on the same wave length. Maybe it did help that they shared some of the interests, had what to talk about, and had a long train ride with nothing much else to do.
That is not to say there were not periods of silence between them. There were quite a few. Especially coming from Eric. But those same periods of silence were also broken by either him or the other boy. Eventually though, the excitement mixed with waking up, and the journey overall did take its toll as Eric leaned against the window a bit his eyes following the passing view again, eyelids feeling heavy as he closed them eventually to get some rest. There was quite a bit left of the journey, but a few hours of rest wouldn't do any bad.
