Maggie pulled back her hair into a high-ish ponytail, giving her reflection a quick, confident grin. She wore a pair of worn-down overalls that her mom had owned since before Maggie was born, and they were worn and a little too big, so Maggie had cut off the pant legs where the began to drape over her dirty red converse. Under her overalls, Maggie wore a loose, cropped, tie-die tee shirt with an old cartoon illustrated on it. Her bangs framed her somewhat tanned face, though a slight sunburn had made a pinkish color spread across her cheeks and nose. She shouldered her bag, which was filled with a few bags of chips and a blanket, and started to head down toward the Great Lake. She was excited for what was to come; she’d invited many of her friends and she was looking forward to seeing them finally meet. She was the first to the lakeside, as expected, and she hastily laid out the blanket and threw the surplus bags of chips on top of it.

Isaiah could see Maggie in the distance, laying down a blanket on the lakeside, and placing food on it's surface, although he was too far away to see what. But, that didn't really matter at all, Isaiah was an avid eater, and far from picky.
Before he headed down to where Maggie was waiting, he rushed over to the lake, and peered at himself in the reflective water. It was true Isaiah wasn't one for neatness, but he hardly knew Maggie, and wanted to make a good impression. Kneeling down, to get a better look, Isaiah studied his reflection in the water. He'd done his hair this morning, roughly tying his thick, black hair into messy braids. His skin, ebony-black, shone from the sun's light, and he wore a casual outfit, as all of his wardrobe was, which included a blue and light grey jumper, old ripped jeans that had once been his brothers, and fading black converse.
Isaiah straightened up his jumper, and pushed back a couple of braids that had fallen onto his face. After he was satisfied with his appearance, Isaiah stood up, and started to walk along the lakeside, to meet Maggie.
It was a short walk, and as he reached Maggie, Isaiah found that he didn't know what to say. Hello, maybe? Thanks for the invite? After all, the two hardly knew each other, and Isaiah didn't want to come across as rude. After a bit of thinking, he walked up to her.
"Hi Maggie," he said smiling. "Am I the first one here?"

Oliver trudged down the path toward the great lake, a somewhat nervous flutter buried in his chest.
He was wearing a black hoodie, a bit too big for him, dark blue denim jeans which were cuffed at the bottoms, white socks, and black converse with loosely tied laces.
Maggie and Oliver had met during a potions class when they were paired together, it had been a pretty fun lesson, a disastrous one, but fun none the less. She was one of Oliver's first friends at Hogwarts and he had grown quite attached to their small conversations in potions class.
Outstretched in front of him he could see two small figures, one he quickly realized was Maggie, the other figure he hadn't met yet. Must be one of Maggie's friends, he thought.
This party was also a good opportunity for Oliver to make some new friends, as long as he didn't make a fool of himself again.
He paused for a moment, looking over at the figures. The nervousness bubbling up inside him.
He took a short breath and relaxed his shoulders. It'd be fine, he reassured himself.
He shoved his hands into his front pockets and ducked his head, as he strolled over.
"Hey Maggie" He said smiling.
He turned toward the wizard he'd never met before.
"Hey, I'm Oliver." He said, reaching out his hand for a handshake.
He then proceeded it glance around at the view of the lake, and then back down toward the blanket which had snacks laid onto it.

Tatiana ran her hand through her hair, brushing flyaways from her face, as she stepped out of the castle and onto the grounds. She was starting to feel a little nervous. Maggie, the bright and confident Gryffindor girl she'd originally met in the library over Herbology homework, was having a party before she left for the holiday and had been gracious enough to invite her. Though she was one of only a handful of friends Tatiana had made in her first year, she was sure that Maggie had made many more, all of which were expected to be there.

As she approached the lake, her anxiety grew, she could see in the distance that at least two other people had arrived. She wasn't exactly sure what to expect from the gathering but was eager to make a good impression. She flattened the front of her floral print collared shirt and dusted off her green corduroy shorts. In one hand, she was was holding a small present for Maggie, covered in a simple brown burlap wrapping and tied with twine. She figured gifts weren't really customary at these sorts of things, but it was small, and Maggie had been a good friend to her.

Closing the distance between herself and the group, she approached Maggie first, as she had never met the other two wizards before. "Hi, Maggie!" she smiled shyly, passing the girl her gift as she spoke. "I know this isn't really a gift giving type of party, but it's just a little something." Inside was a small leather bound book, identical to the one Tatiana had so often done her notes and sketches in, but empty so Maggie could write or draw in it herself. She seemed to be fond of the diagrams and pictures Tatiana had drawn during their studies and now maybe she could do some of her own. Turning to the other two boys, she gave a timed smile and wave. "Hi, I'm Tatiana."

Maggir narrowed her eyes as she saw a figure approaching her from the castle. It paused for a second, by the Great Lake, and continued to walk towards her. After a few seconds, Maggie was able to make out the figure: Isaiah Lewis. He was a nice boy, and in Gryffindor, but Maggie didn’t really know him that well. They had, however, somehow figured out that they lived pretty close, so they’d made plans over the summer. He wore a grey hoodie with black ripped jeans and converse, and as he approached, he said, “Hi Maggie,” Isaiah said, smiling, “Am I the first one here?” he asked, and Maggie grinned at him, “Sure are,” she stood from where she’d been laying down on her blanket, wiping the dirt off of her hands, and grinning at the boy, “I’m glad you could make it,” she said, but before she could continue, a familiar voice rang from behind her. Maggie turned her head to see her friend, Oliver Lock, standing there with a somewhat nervous air. He was wearing an oversized black hoodie and dark blue jeans, cuffed to reveal his white socks and black converse. “Hey Maggie,” he said, and then turned to Isaiah and said, “Hey, I’m Oliver,”. Maggie could tell he was slightly uncomfortable with the situation, and as he sat down on the blanket, an idea popped into Maggie’s head. “Hi Maggie!” a familiar voice said, and Maggie turned her head to see Tatiana Crane. She wore a pretty button up blouse with little flowers on it, and green corduroy shorts that matched the color of the green stems on her shirt. In her hands, she held a little parcel wrapped in tan paper with delicate lace surrounding it, making it look like there were white leaves drawn onto it. “I know this isn’t really a gift giving type of party, but it’s just a little something.” Tatiana said, making Maggie grin widely. Although she hadn’t expected anyone to bring a gift, she thought that it was a nice gesture, and if anyone were to do something of the sort, it’d be Tatiana. She, at least from Maggie’s perspective, was notorious for being extremely thoughtful and put together, and Maggie was sure that her gift would reflect that. “Thank you! Tatiana, you really didn’t have to...” she unwrapped the gift to find a notebook, much like the one she’d shown her in the Library when they’d first met. She quickly gave Tatiana a hug, grinning widely. “This is amazing!” she gestured towards Oliver and Isaiah, and said, “Tatiana, meet Isaiah Lewis and Oliver Lock,” Tatiana waved brightly and introduced herself, and Maggie turned to the three, “Do you guys want to play a game or something, while we wait?”

Margo wandered aimlessly around the Great Lake, her mind lost in fantasies of random colours and happenings. Her keen eye scrutinised the landscape in front of her as she walked, and took notice of the picnic blanket and food laid out carefully on the ground in the distance. She stopped, her mouth forming an O shape when she saw the gathering at the waters edge. A few days ago a girl she had seen around in some of her classes had given her an invitation to a lakeside party, and she had completely forgotten. Now, this came as a bit of a shock. Margo liked to think that she had a good memory, to say the least. It wasn’t as though she didn’t have proof to back this up- she always remembered birthdays and never, ever got lost. However, this gathering had completely slipped her mind. ’Is there something wrong with me? she worried, but, before she could stress, she realised she could recollect each of her family members’ birthdays in order. She could recall the name of the host of the gathering quite clearly. Her name was Maggie, and she was a Gryffindor first year.

’This was just a one off memory lapse.’ Margo assured herself before walking forwards to join the small gathering. There were only four people present so far, so Margo supposed she was early, or at least on time. ’My reputation remains undisturbed.’ She inwardly smirked before taking in the people around her. She had never seen any of them before, except for Maggie of course- so she predicted that none of them were Slytherins. However, her curiosity was dissatisfied, so she opened her mouth to find some real answers.

“Hi there. I’m Margo, how about you? Thanks for the invite, by the way Maggie.” Margo detested small talk, but she held a small smile on her face all the same. ’It’s nessecary if you’re looking for answers about these people.’ she internally reassured. And anyway, she was thankful for the invite. It showed how much of a unique and caring person Maggie was to invite someone she barely knew, and Margo secretly admired that. However, before she could get caught up in her own morals, she decided to move onto a subject that interested her more.

“What are your favourite colours?”

Admittedly, this could still be considered ‘polite small talk’, but Margo didn’t really care. The norms of conversation bored her, so she didn’t make it her goal to know them. However, when Maggie mentioned playing a game, Margo completely forgot boredom as her competitive spirit raged.

”Let’s.” She agreed, letting a grin slide across her face.

Oliver folded his legs and sat comfortably on the blanket.
"Hi, I'm Tatiana." One of the girls greeted, waving her hand. Oliver smiled up at her in return.
Tatiana, meet Isaiah Lewis and Oliver Lock." Maggie said, glancing from Tatiana to the two boys.
The atmosphere wasn't as tense as Oliver was expecting, the conversation seemed to start flowing.
Oliver loosened his shoulders, resting his elbows on his legs and his head in his hands.
Oliver heard a voice from above him.
"Hi there. I'm Margo, How about you?" It was a girl with hair cut into a bob and parted down the center.
She had a short smile on her face.
"I'm Oliver." He said meeting her eyes and flashing her a weak smile.
Oliver's arms began to feel a little more shakey and his stomach seemed to be turning a little.
He scratched the back of his neck and glanced towards the ground, in a feeble attempt to calm himself down.
After a short moment, Maggie spoke.
Do you guys want to play a game or something, while we wait?
"That sounds good." Oliver said.
Maybe it would take his mind off his nervousness, and help him relax a little more.

He clasped his hands together at the base of his stomach, his legs crossed and
twiddling his thumbs.
"What shall we play?" He asked, to no one in particular.

Maggie grinned at Margo as she walked up and introduced herself. “Hi there, I’m Margo, how about you?” Margo asked, smiling, “Thanks for the invite, by the way Maggie.” she added, and Maggie nodded her head at her as a way of saying you’re welcome. “What shall we play?” Oliver asked, though it was to no one in particular. “How about a good old fashioned game of Truth or Dare?” Maggie asked, grinning. Truthfully, it was one of her favorite games, especially when she was playing with people who came up with creative dares. Plus, it was an easy game to hop into, so they wouldn’t have to stop if a new person came in. “Is everyone alright with that?” Maggie asked, wanting to make sure before the game began. She had a few friends back home who hated the game, and even her own brother, Cooper, had confided in her that he thought the game was, “barbaric and awful”. Now, while that might’ve been true when you were playing with the Parker family, which, without fail, would take the game a smidge too far every time they played, Maggie was sure that it’d be much more tame with a group of people who hadn’t lived with each other their entire lives. Once, Maggie’s older brother Jason had been dared to do a backflip off of their dad’s moving truck, and he had ended up with a broken arm and ankle. Needless to say, the game was now banned in the Parker household.

Dan headed out to the grounds, following the directions given to him from his invitation. He was a bit late, but it hopefully wouldn't matter that much. As usual when he went on walks on the grounds, his shoes had been left in the dorm.
Honestly, he had been surprised to get an invitation to a party; he wasn't antisocial or anything, but he hadn't exactly gone out of his way to meet every single person either.
But he he was hardly complaining. He liked going to parties. His dad would always jokingly say that was because he was Irish. He was probably referencing the drunken Irish stereotype or something, but it didn't matter.

Dan was shaken from his thoughts as he drew closer, and his stomach dropped at all the people there already. He must have been more late than he thought.
Wonderful.
They were all seated about, and appeared to be talking, though he couldn't quite make out what at the distance he was. He quickened his pace slightly, but hopefully not enough to be noticed, because that would make him look desperate to arrive and not be any more late.

As he got within speaking distance, he found that his words were failing him. Usually he was fine in situations like this, but he was apparently so late that awkwardness set in for him, and froze his ability to initiate small talk. So, he went with something that he hoped didn't make things worse.

"Uhh... Hi."

Oh brilliant start.

"Thanks for the invite, Maggie. I'm not too late, am I?"

Chris slowly walked down the dry dirt path of the forest, sunlight bursting through the treeline like lazers. He had unexpectedly received an invitation by a girl named Maggie, who was present in some of his classes. The pair only talked a handful of times, but the girl seemed to have liked him enough to even think of inviting him. Since it was almost guaranteed a good few people was going to be attending, he decided to make an effort and dress smart, by wearing a pair of light blue denim jeans and a red checkered shirt with the sleeves being rolled up to his elbows. Dressing for the occasion was another thing, making an impression was something different. Eventually, he could see the group of kids perched next to the pond, talking amongst themselves as they digged into some snacks. The only people noticeable was Maggie and a Slytherin girl he had seen in the common room a few times but never spoke too. Chris would let off a short sigh before walking over to the group, his face motionless like normal "Afternoon everyone, I hope i'm not late" he says openly before sitting himself down by the others and looking over to Maggie, giving her a brief nod as if to say thanks. They all seemed to be in the middle of sorting out a game of truth or dare, something that exposed once secret truths and humiliated the brave "Sure, why not..." he says hesitantly, knowing he's probably going to make a fool of himself.
