Alan did not want to leave her just staying around and she seemed nice, that's why he asked her whether or not she wanted to tag along. So when she agreed, he was kind of happy and smiled with a short nod. ”Okay then, let's go” Alan was not sure what he was doing, so he just began walking as he held his homework a bit more careful now. Alan did not want to drop his papers again, as that would be a risk to losing them entirely. What if someone stepped on them? That would most likely leave dirty footprints on the paper! He shook his head, he certainly did not want that.

”So what is your favorite subject?”, he asked them both nervously, when the silence began to feel too present. Hogwarts was a big castle so the way to the Defense against the Dark Arts classroom and office took a few minutes. Not that Alan minded, the castle was beautiful; it just sometimes made it difficult to get from one class to the next, especially if the staircases felt mischievous that day! Once Alan had been trapped on a stairs platform for an hour and could not go anywhere, because there was no stairs leading to or from that platform. That had been boring, at one point he had just sat down and began to read for an essay, while sitting there crossed legged. He had nothing better to do at that moment!

The dark-haired boy walked along with Alan and Lallie. He had to reduce his pace down somewhat as Arc had a very fast stride even for his not-very-long, not-even-a-teenager legs. His father always had this oomph in his every step. And walked with this uncanny confidence and courage. It was not that the kid was trying to follow his father's footsteps, but growing up, that was the only kind of walk he knew. It had already rooted way too deeply within him when he finally could compare himself to other kids. He had tried to change, of course, with some success to say the least, but he still needed a conscious effort not to outpace and left everyone behind.
So, what is your favorite subject?
Alan tried to make a conversation and the boy was happy to oblige. He was also very comfortable with silence and would have been content with just walking together to their destination, but small talks were nice as well.

Charms. My favorite subject is definitely Charms. It seems very useful and I find it uber interesting.” Arc gave a slight pause before continuing. “In fact, being a Charms Master is one of the jobs I aspire to be when I grow up.

The boy let another beat passed before asking back, “you? Any subject you like the most? And any you like the least, if I may add.

It would take a while to reach Professor Pendrast’s office, but they were still fast approaching. Arc sincerely hoped they could finish their conversation. He really didn’t like to have an unfinished business or talk. The thought would keep hanging in the back of his mind and that would have annoyed him to no end, like an itch he couldn’t scratch.

Lallie had to walk faster than normal to keep up with Alan and Arc. Since she was little, even for people who were walking at a normal speed, she always had to walk fast to keep up with people. She was just born with a slow walking speed and has tiny legs, she can't help herself.

She waited to see if Arc was going to respond to Alan's question. Lallie has learned from years and years of awkward conversation that you must make that speech pause. That way you avoid that awkward situation of two people about to talk at the same time and then those two people don't know who should continue the conversation.

After Arc was done talking she answered the question, "Yea I think Charms is my favorite subject so far. I am looking forward to Care of Magical Creatures. I would love to get paid to take care of or tame the magical creatures of the world." She always had a passion for taking care of animals but that always conflicted with her parent's views.

She rather liked walking and chatting like this. She always felt like she needed to be doing something productive and berated herself whenever she wanted to relax. Sometimes it was nice to just relax though, you shouldn't just work until you die.

The second year listened to the taller boy, Arc, as he mentioned Charms to be his favorite subject. Alan would have liked to cheer inwardly, but was distracted when the other quickly returned the question. ”Me too, I love Charms! However I look really forward to learn about creatures, but that will not be until a few more months-” he sighed with a disappointed face. Why could it not be taught to first years already? Probably because there was some level of maturity needed; or maybe the world just wanted to test his patience! Like that one time he arrived early at Honeydukes and had to wait for the store to open. That were one of the longest five minutes in his life!

”As for a subject I do not like? Flying! Or well it is less the subject and more the brooms-”, he mumbled, stumbling over some of the words, as he was hoping he would not be judged for that. After all the Flying professor must hate him for not liking her subject! She was crazy anyway... she was way too noisy. Was that the word? He sighed and shook his head to clear his thoughts. He was drifting off the topic again, so he focused on the two other students again, as they walked past some paintings.

Arc listened to the girl as they kept walking. He also liked animals. And his father actually kept many animals in their house either as a pet or research subjects. But he never had much luck with them. They always reacted badly whenever he got close to them. Sigh.

That does sound like a fun job, Lallie. Do you have any favorite magical creature?” The boy asked.

Me too, I love Charms!" The Gryffindor boy chimed in after the girl. "However, I really look forward to learn about creatures, but that will not be until a few more months-” answered Alan before sighing with a disappointed face.

Well, you’ll only need to wait for a mere few months, while we first years still have to wait for more than a year. So, lucky you!” Arc said slightly patting the other boy in the back with a smile.

Alan then went on about his least favorite subject, flying. The broom could be a fickle thing indeed. Arc could now say he was pretty decent at flying a broom, but that took a lot of practice. His Quidditch Captain would never let him slack off. “Well, flying, is it? What’s wrong with the broom? Have you tried talking to them nicely? I know it sounds weird," which it was, "but some say it works for them. Well, it works for me, too, actually. I did have some trouble with them at first, but after I tried talking to them, it was actually much easier to use!” It must have been a coincident, but placebo effect was very much real. Believing that it would help could actually help. There was certainly no harm in trying. “As for me, I don’t really fancy the potion class.

Lallie didn't really dislike any of her Hogwarts classes. There were good parts that she enjoyed about all of them. That included Flying classes. She wasn't really good at riding a broom but the class was relaxing and easy-going compared to other classes too- the homework too.

"Oh, that's easy. My favorite magical creatures are dragons. They're so powerful and regal. Even when they're as small as 22ft. Take the Swedish Short-Snout, my personal favorite dragon, one of the smallest dragon breeds yet it can shoot an extremely hot blue flame. Do you know what it means when a flame is blue? That means the fire has a temperature of 5250oC to 9750oC! That's incredible that a dragon that only has a length of 22ft can make a hotter flame than the largest dragon recorded, the Ukrainian Ironbelly!" Lallie said before blushing, "Oh sorry, I tend to get excited when I talk about dragons."

It was true though. The majesticness of dragons was undeniable and Lallie loved them. Ever since she was a little girl she always dreamed of being a part of the Dragon Research and Restraint Bureau, dedicating their lives to keep dragons in line and learning more about them.

"I think I agree with Arc." Lallie said after Arc suggested some riding tips to Alan, "Brooms always seemed to act like horses to me so I've always just treated it like one. Sure I'm not anything close to what you'd call a good flyer but I defiantly have been bucked off less than before." Then again she might also just have gotten better at flying. Either way, it was nice to treat something like a pet since she couldn't afford one yet.

"So Alan, what's your DADA homework on? You're a grade above me and Arc so it's going to be different then what we're learning I assume." Lallie asked. She did this to one continue the conversation but also two it would help her get an advantage by knowing part of what she's learning next year.

Alan nodded into Arc's direction with a sheepish smile. He knew exactly what Arc meant, as he himself had wanted to learn about creatures the day he entered the school and was sad to learn that this would not be until he would be in third year. Which is the whole reason that Alan joined R.O.A.M; to learn more about creatures and everything Griffith had to teach about them. He just loved creatures and wished he could meet each and every one. Maybe someday he could travel the world, learning about them.

Alan loved hearing the girl talk about fire. ”However blue fire does not always mean that it is hot”, he reminded her. ”In our world anything is possible and I think there is a spell with Blue fire that is cold- I saw it in Diagon Alley with street performers”, he mentioned, but could not recall knowing the name of said spell; hoping he would learn about it.

Alan shrugged at the tip; he just really did not like flying and anything that had to do with it. So he just shrugged it off and wanted to move on with the conservation. He already saw the door of the classroom and slightly fastened his steps upon seeing his destination. ”I just really don't like it. I would prefer to just not even touch a broom and I cannot understand how Flying Carpets are prohibited as they must be so much safer than brooms...”, he sighed. Alan did not dislike flying, he was scared of it, but he hated admitting it, so he did not mention it.

However, blue fire does not always mean that it is hot,” said Alan. “In our world anything is possible and I think there is a spell with Blue fire that is cold- I saw it in Diagon Alley with street performers.

That's alright, Luna!" The young Ravenclaw chuckled. "It's good to have things that you are passionate about." He looked at the girl and smiled. "Anyway, both of you are correct, I guess. For the case of the Swedish Short-Snout, they can make an extremely hot flame, indeed. Their fire is hot enough to melt steel beams.” Arc said while scratching his cheek. He had read that in a book. But he had also felt a dragon’s flame heat first hand once when he was accompanying his father to work. Not that he got burn or anything. And it was a particularly small dragon. But just by being close enough to it, he could already feel the heat washing over him. It was scary to say the least.

But yeah, on the other hand, not all blue flame is hot. The color does not always represent how hot the fire is. One of the examples would be the spell that Alan said, which would be the Bluebell Flame, I presume. That seems to be an awesome spell by the way. I would love to learn that someday." The boy paused, imagining the spell a little before continuing. "But besides that, mixing copper chloride to the fuel would also make the fire blue. Just like adding borax or copper sulfate will make green fire. Even though it was mostly used by muggles, I believe there are some usage of those chemicals in the magical world as well.

Their conversation then shifted to the brooms and flying. "I think I agree with Arc. Brooms always seemed to act like horses to me so I've always just treated it like one. Sure, I'm not anything close to what you'd call a good flyer but I definitely have been bucked off less than before."

I see,” Arc nodded and just patted the boy's shoulder. Alan did not seem to be very keen with the conversation and pursuing that line was probably not the wisest thing to do. Not like they had the time for it anyway. They had arrived. “Ah, well. Here we are.

Alan nodded at Arc's comment, when they arrived at the door of the Defence Against the Dark Arts professor's office. He just had to deliver the paper to her now and everything would be fine, right? He just hoped that the paper did not get all too crumpled when they had fallen down in the hallway. Alan was not all too worried about his grades, but he did like to keep them as positive as he could.

"Wanna go in the office with me?", he would ask the two people that accompanied him, looking at Arc specifically though, since the boy has been nice to talk to and seemed a bit more responsive. He was impressed on how much the guy actually knew already, even though he was a year younger than Alan was. It just made it clear that the prefect belonged into the house the hat had sorted him into and that made Alan smile slightly.

The Gryffindor was happy to have met the Ravenclaw prefect, wondering how he could call him or what could help him to remember his name. Alan was a disaster when it came down to remembering a name and he might have to come up with a nickname, if he could not keep the name of these two people in his head.

If Arc decides to accompany Alan into the office, Alan would take a deep breath and knock gently against the door to the professor's office in the hope they were present.
Sorry it took me so long; I was hoping that Lallie would come back and reply.

The three musketeers finally reached their destination. It was not a very long walk. But it felt even shorter for Arc since he was with good company. Alan seemed like an all-around good guy and he would love to be his friend. Arc did not have that many friends to begin with and he somehow had even fewer male friends. As much as he loved talking with his best friend, Raine Sage, there was just some stuffs he could not talk about with a girl.

As the young Prefect looked at the door in front of him, he started to wonder whether or not he should come along inside. Arc wondered whether or not he would be asked to accompany the young Gryffindor. He’d be happy to go. But he was not sure Alan would feel the same. Apparently, there was nothing to worry about.

Wanna go in the office with me?” Alan asked, looking at the dark-haired kid.

Ah, sure, I’d love to,” said Arc with a smile. “I’m kinda curious what we’ll face inside.

Arc looked at @Lallie Luna wondering what she would reply before looking back at the older boy. @Alan Vanes took a deep breath and knocked the door to Professor @Elaine Pendrast‘s room gently. Now, they could only hope she was present inside.

And hopefully be in a good mood.
