The great hall was in its usual chatter of noise as Minnie went down the stairs, ready for another day of school. As she had a few pranks planned during DADA, that would make the day more bearable, but she had potions during first block and that was slightly boring. Not that she would ever tell her family, who were all Slytherins. Speaking of family, she saw them walking towards their table. She waved hello to her brother and sister, then sighed and walked on to the Hufflepuff table. Sometimes being the odd family member sucked.
It was only the fifth day of school, so they weren't doing all that much work, but she still had to work mildly hard to complete the classwork. Especially in Potions, which she was extremely bad at. She had been given extra homework because of it, and she still needed to finish it. So it was with great annoyance that she worked on her mind altering potion essay. She had just finished it when the owls started to arrive. Minnie was expecting a package of dungbombs, so she looked up for an owl coming her way.
A certain owl did arrive, but not with a box that could hold dungbombs. And the owl looked too rich for the shop. It was a silky white owl that looked newly cleaned. The Hufflepuffs around her didn't pay much attention to it, as Minnie's family was rich and had the money for a mansion, as well as an owl that looked like that. But that owl was not their home owl, who was a tawny brown. This owl was strange and heading straight for her.
It gracefully landed on her plate, and then waited for her to open the package, which was very unusual. Is it waiting for a response? Because I don't know who this letter is from. The letter looked bulky, like it was holding an item as well as a letter. She opened it up and found a locket, and a letter. She decided to read the letter first.
Dear Minnie Duke,
I hope I find you in good health. In this package is a locket, and when the time is right, I hope you know how to use it. I will be looking forward to seeing which side you choose.

Minnie looked up from reading, utterly confused. Who was this person, and what did she want? Then she looked at the locket, trying to understand what the letter meant. It was a green locket, mildly big but no other unusual aspects. She tried to open it and found it was locked, with a keyhole. She searched the package it had came in, but there was nothing else. Unsure of what else to do, she shooed the owl away, which promptly flew off, and stuffed the letter and the locket into her satchel. This was certainly very unusual.
