"You don't believe in such things now, do you?"
date: 28/04/2024 location: small hallIt was not Violet's intention to ask such a dry question. But the young girl felt awkward, she knew nobody. Although, she did know the young lad who happened to drop the cup and had spent quite a few hours with him, it was more uncomfortable knowing they had completely forgotten having an introduction exchange that night.
Locking eyes with the Slytherin, she noticed how he looked anxious although trying his best to cover up. Violet frowned slightly as her gaze followed the Slytherin leaving the great hall.
The young Hufflepuff was not someone who had call anybody her friend but he was still more than just a passerby, an accomplice maybe after all they both broke a rule together.
And maybe it was Hufflepuff of her that did not want to leave someone who might need support.
Violet looked at the group that had gathered and slightly nodded before leaving the great hall swiftly, leaving her newspaper and quill behind on the Hufflepuff table.
She took comparatively long strides, covering up the distance the boy had travelled. It took her a minute or so to match pace with her accomplice.
Violet called out, "Hey!" which could have been quite startling. But she continued more like she babbled on pretty fast, "It might be startling and I am already quite sorry for that. But I did not mean to ask such a dry question back there when obviously nothing was alright. I am genuinely worried as you seem like you have seen a ghost which is not me, obviously. That had been pretty much cleared out that night." With that being said, she passed an awkward smile .

"You don't believe in such things now, do you?"
'Hey!'
Archer startled, but gave the situation the benefit of the doubt and decided it was not, in fact, directed at him. Only when Violet continued speaking, did her familiar yet foreign voice define her as the girl he could not quite claim to know. Halting, he forced himself to turn towards her, hazel eyes steeling. Shifting on the balls of his feet as he adjusted the strap of his satchel, each and every one of his habitual actions conveyed a tense anxiety. After all, he needed his mother, not this girl he had barely met with.
Archer made for a smile at Violet's jest, for a strained reaction was better than none, yet, despite his best efforts to come across as polite, his lips only formed an uncomfortable wince. While he understood her context, sentimental reunions could have been chosen at a better time. Her lightening of spirits was appreciated, if only something as grim as death could be lifted of his troubled shoulders with a few witty words. He cleared his throat, attempting to regain some semblance of composure, and said, voice tight as it was quiet, 'What I saw comes before the ghost.' He prayed his explanation was answer enough for the cat-eyed girl. Distress was not the best initiator of social interactions.
