ivories and isolation
── ─Of all the places that enthralled Amelie most, the rehearsal room took the cake.
There wasn’t anything particularly special about it, the only life that stirred within found amongst the paintings that watched one with curiosity. It's heavy oak door groaned softly as she pushed it open, the sight that lie inside not any less grand than the rest of Hogwarts. With high ceilings and even higher expectations, the only trait that did appear to set itself apart was the quietness it fostered, something Amelie had found little abundance of over the course of her schooling.
With her recent yearn for isolation, one could easily mistake Amelie for a hermit by nature. Make no mistake, however, as the small Hufflepuff is all one for sociality. Being raised by a mother with a particular fondness for hosting gatherings, it'd be impossible not to pick up at least a touch of social grace. So why was she here? Dwelling amongst the seclusion that the rehearsal room offered, when the rest of the castle buzzed with life outside its doors?
Because in here, there was no one to perform for but herself. That is, if you didn't count the following eyes trapped behind golden frames. With delicate parchments clutched gently in one hand, she approached the piano placed at the center of the room. Her steps echoed faintly, swallowed by the overwhelming space it offered. It's sleek surface was familiar to the touch, the keys glistening in gentle light as she raised her hands to play.──

ivories and isolation
English
He had been having a rather difficult day. Between the homesickness, the homework, and the many new children around him he was having difficulties adjusting. So, to try to get away from everything and relax a little he took to the fourth floor. As far as he was aware it only held the dueling club and a few other rooms that were barely used. It should have been quiet.
When he reached the floor he stopped in his tracks. It had been a long time since Alexander had listened to such music. In the past few years it had only been him playing his violin around the manor as mother had begun oil painting instead. He followed the sound until all that was left between him and the mystery pianist was a solid oak door.
The door was wide open as if someone had been too deep in thought to bother closing it. with all the courage of a Gryffindor he walked around the door and just inside the room. It was a Hufflepuff girl. A first year from the looks of her. She was probably dealing with the same homesickness he was. For most first years it would be the first time they have gone this long without their parents.
He stood just inside the room beside the door and waited for her to slow her pace enough that it didn't feel like a crime to speak. "Would you mind if I joined you? I can play the violin." he posed the question like he would any other. He left the decision to her now quite glad mother had suggested he bring his violin. After he had gotten to his room he had gone looking for it only to end up asking the elves. They informed him it had been taken to the rehearsal room and that he could get it anytime during the day.
