Great Hall

When people spoke of the Great Hall, one would imagine thousands upon thousands of candles floating in midair above four unbelievably long tables. And probably a ceiling dotted with stars as if you were connected to the heaven itself. Tonight, it had been turned into a discotheque. Yes, just like the one you would see in the 1970’s. Just with more magic.
A giant disco ball, The Ultimate Rotating Disco Ball, one could even call it TURD Ball, floated in the middle of the room slowly spinning with rapidly changing colors. Smaller disco balls replaced the candles, bobbing and weaving just like buoys in the ocean, but also revolving around the main Ball. An inquisitive mind might even realize that it would take exactly 365 minutes for one of the small disco balls to completely revolve around the big one. There were many other trivias and secrets in those balls, but that would be a story for another time. The four long tables were gone to House Elves knew where, leaving a very spacious disco floor. And the enchanted ceiling had been turned into a multicolored tiles which mirrored the floor perfectly.
As Arc Perscivious walked upon the dance floor, the tile would light up with different colors and gave out a soft synthesized ‘ding’ in different notes within the pentatonic scale. He had made sure that everything was in order. But he just felt jittery as the time for the party came nearer and nearer. The dark-haired boy felt as if he needed to keep moving. He was usually a very calm person, but the stress got to him as well. What were the professors thinking leaving such an event on the hand of a bunch of first years?! Thankfully, his fellow year-mates had worked splendidly. They could cooperate with him even with his accursed terrible presence pushing against them and making them shiver all the time. And they could manage the house elves that accompanied them well.
It was about time for the door to be opened for his fellow first years and there was one last thing to do. In his loose slacks, Arc walked to the so called ‘DJ Booth’ and gave the players the cue to start the music. They had trained relentlessly with their frogs to play disco music. And they were performing surprisingly well. One would play the string sections, the other played as the horns, another sounded a lot like electric rhythm guitars, and one would play syncopated basslines. It was seriously like you were in a legit discotheque. Professor Browne, the biggest supporter of the theme, would certainly be pleased. Not that Arc would know that.
As the throng of almost-teenagers finally let in, the boy found a nice dim spot in the corner of the room -where all the chairs, tables, and foods were- to sit down. He just wanted peace and quiet. Something that was probably impossible to get in this room. And he just wanted to read some books. Dang it, he really should have brought at least one. Preparing this event had cut a lot into his reading time and he would have to make up for it when Summer Holiday finally came.
The young Prefect would need to survive this graduation party first, though.

Tonight was the First Years night. After hearing some Second Years discussing what they'd wear for the Second Year Party, Nico had gotten curious to the First Years Party. She had gotten abit weary and careful after the Blossom Ball. It didn't really go as planned so for this party she wasn't gonna put her hopes up. Ofcourse, that Ball ended differently than she had thought it would... A Gryffindor boy called Alexander had helped her out. She owed him one after he stopped a Huffelpuff from verbally assaulting her. That thought brought a small smile to her face. He was kindhearted and strong too. And... goodlooking. Sigh.
As he was a Second Year, there was no way she'd see him tonight which she honestly thought was a bummer. But she was sure they'd meet up again sometime soon.
At her dorm, Pip watched her comb her hair and eyed at a dress which was put away in a coatbag. He looked up at her as if asking why she isn't wearing it tonight. 'Pip.... I love that dress but.. I'd rather not. I'm just going to keep it casual by wearing my schooluniform. Except...' She carefully lifted up her skirt a little. 'I'll be wearing overknee striped socks today. So I won't be THAT ordinairy, right?' Smiling she tilted her head and finished up preparing her hair. 'I won't be taking you with me, I'll be okey. So, you can have my bed ALL for yourself. Ain't that fun?' Pip squeeked dissapointed and waddled over to her pillow.
Putting on her robes and her faithfull scarf around her neck, Nico looked over her shoulder after adding her wand in her pocket. 'I'll see you later, Pip. I won't be late!'
Quietly, the Slytherin Prefect walked up the stairs, making her way to the Great Hall. Since the Second Years already called dibs on the Ballroom, the First Years had to settle with the main eating hall. Some weren't so happy with this but Nico didn't mind. The Great Hall was big enough defenitely if the chairs and tables would've been moved.
Arriving at the doorway, Nico peeked inside to see if anyone was around. No one ? Oh, there was already someone. He seemed familiar to her... She didn't know him but she had defenitely seen him before... but where. Her iceblue eyes scanned the room and soon she would feel obligated to maybe say 'Hi'. He did pick a seat near the food tables. There's no way she could just ignore him, right? That would be rude. Especially since they were the first ones there.
Nico sighed. Why...did this have to happen to her? But no matter! She straightened her back and took a deep breath. Finally walking over to the foodtables, she kindly nodded at the boy before watching the many trays of food. She tried to calm down, to think of something to say. As soon as the boy would've looked the other way, she'd observe him. What could she speak to him about... Picking up a cupcake, Nico carefully pulled it apart, piece by piece, eating it quietly.
She set a few steps closer his way and gently leaned against the table.
'S-So... Is.. there a reason why.. I might've seen you before?'
Softly munching on the pieces of cupcake, her eyes drifted to the kids who arrived, in groups or alone. She didn't want to stare at him. That could probably look maybe intimidating. She was curious and wanted to open up to people. Socialising had become easier but it chilled her to the bone still.
You're gonna need a bigger boat

Elena just, watched from the corner of the ballroom, oddly enough everyone else felt like they were wrong and evil. Even the girl from ROAM, not right, none of them were, it was almost like everyone but Elena had a Terrible Presence.
The girl looked around, this was it? The second year graduation party was a lot better, there were professors and stuff there, and there wasn’t just two random prefect children that made her finely honed instincts want to run and hide. Her less rational brain also just said they were boring, very boring, and that hanging out with these people would make her want to hit her head against a brick wall. Repeatedly.
“Excuse me if I seem a little unimpressed with this, I’m an antisocial pessimist but usually I don’t mess with this and I know you mean only the best and you’re intentions aren’t to bother me but honestly I’d rather be.” Elena sang to herself as she left the great hall, “Somewhere with my people, we can kick it and just, listen to some music with a message, like we usually do and we’ll discuss our big dreams, how we plan, to take over the planet. So pardon my manners...”
Elena Jones Arrived, Realised Arc Had Terrible Presence and that nobody who was there except Arc would bother to talk to me, and promptly left. Have fun kids.
I'm weak my love.

A first-year party again? Luna read the letter that she had received from her Head of The House over and over again. She had never really talked with this professor, which was why the only reason she could send the lavender-haired girl a letter must be because of prefect's duty. And as she thought, it was true. She asked the lavender-haired to go to a party that would happen today since the professor couldn't attend.
The party for the first year since the summer break would happen soon. Luna didn't know this, but even if she did, she wouldn't go. However, she couldn't refuse her Head of the House's request either. Sighing, the young prefect put the letter back on the table and took a look around her dorm. She had decided, between going and not to go.
"Maybe..." She mumbled, picking up her prefect's badge and put it in her pocket bag. "This is enough." No need to wear other things, or bring other stuff. She would just wear her normal Slytherin uniform instead of wearing any sparkling dress like last time. It was so annoying, especially when she was only there for the prefect job. So, she should only bring her prefect badger with... Her eyes dropped on another thing that was lying on her table. "And just in case..." She picked up her wand, and also put it in her pocket. No one knew what would happen, so just in case she would bring her wand with her. Looking at her skirt, the girl shook her head. Nope, she would just let down her hair and wear her pants like normal.
Patting her cat, she sighed. "Well then Ray, I have to go now." She was not sure if pets were allowed in the party, but she felt like she shouldn't bring him with, in case something happened. She had already lost trust in the professors here. They were only supported to do their job right, but they failed. She would respect them, but she doubted that she would trust them fully. Those professors... Luna shrugged and walked out of the dorm. None of her business anyway.
When she was going to enter the party, she walked by someone really familiar, but she couldn't remember who it was. That girl had blue hair... That sounded like someone she had met before, but when she looked closer, that girl was unfamiliar. Nevermind about that, the party had just started, and she just left immediately? Whatever, it was her choice.
Once she got in, she didn't hesitate and walked to the corner. It wasn't too easy to observe others from this place, but she didn't want to be in the crowd either. Her eyes stopped on where the food was placed. Maybe she could get some for Ray, of course, it wouldn't be sweets. She had heard that cats couldn't eat things like chocolate, so no.
And then, she also realized a familiar face. It was Nico Shymane, her Slytherin colleague, she hadn't met that girl for so long... well, outside the dorm. She had no intention to talk with the girl though because she seemed to like to have a conversation with another first-year guy near her. Talk about that, he looked kind of familiar too. Nah, there was no way she had met a guy like that...
Just because I said you were bad does not mean that I am mean. It shows that I am honest.

Thea walked into the Great Hall and was astonished at how it was turned into a true discotheque. Her outfit was quite off from the theme which was as well disco, but she didn't have much time to put it all together, so she did what she could. A striped, multicolored shirt, a small jean shirt with painted flowers on the pockets, white, blue, and red nike shoes, black belt and backpack, and finally a jean jacket.
It turned out different than she had hoped for, but it was good to have a special occasion to get dressed up for. The hall itself resembled the theme as well, candles replaced with mini disco balls that floated around a big one that was in the center.
As she walked in, a girl she knew already walked out, Elena Jones, however she was leaving so Thea didn't bother stopping her. She looked over at the other students who were there. Two Slytherins, both girls, one of which appeared to be a prefect, and a Ravenclaw boy, who was also one. She didn't know any of them, so she just sort of stood in the middle of the entrance, astonished by everything she was looking at.
Despite the main things she had noticed, the long tables were also gone, and the ceiling which used to look as if it were open to the sky was now mirroring the dance floor. She took anither step forward with her mouth agape.
The music was playing, but not from a muggle device as you would expect - it was frogs, each of them having a different way of... Well... Playing instruments? Sounding? Despite everything being pretty much perfect, and her knowing that Hogwarts was a safe space, she couldn't exactly get in the right mood, as if something was looming over the entire great hall.
The Hufflepuff still stood in the middle of the entrance, so she quickly moved over to one side where she'd be less of a bother.

She had heard talk of a first-year celebration or something of the sort so she had decided to check the entire thing out. Who knew what she might run into, here's hoping she didn't have to come into contact with that jerk Slytherin from earlier. She might have to hex him if he did come.
The Gryffindor had decided to go for a formal appearance for this occassion. After all, it was the end of the year celebration, had to leave a lasting impression. So, she had taken up wearing a average black dress that sparkled a bit with the adornments and small jewels that decorated the garment. She wore that family necklace around her neck, and a small gold bracelet on her wrist and aside from that, that was as formal she was going to get for this. A shock of blue hair passed Elena and her head turned her expression turning to one of curiosity. I know that face.."Ele-..?She barely finished the sentence as the Slytherin went by her."Huh."She mumbled to herself entering the Great Hall.
Inside, the entire thing had been set together marvelously. There was music present and surprisingly decent musicians as well. Some boy was walking around on these weird lighting tiles that peaked her interest before her eyes caught wind of the disco ball."Ahh, of course. Silly me."The girl said grinning. It was the dance floor, and quite an elaborate one at that. There were a few other people and was that..Luna? Well, thank the lords there was someone she knew. Though, the Slytherin had seemed to forego the dress for her school uniform. She wasn't one to judge, people could do whatever they wanted, it was the end of the year, time to unwind. Illowy had been dreading the idea of going to the graduation party all week, still a bit on edge after the last party she'd attended that the school had hosted; but surely this one might be safer? Part of her felt she owed it to herself to go. After all, she'd survived her first year at Hogwarts. She'd been working so hard, gone through so much, she owed it to herself to try to have a bit of fun.
After an hour of digging through her trunk for something to wear, she finally settled on a nice sundress. Contrary to the stereotype, Illowy actually loved wearing dresses, pastels and such things; even if one might assume that the cold, distant child might hardly wear more then black and a few dark shades of color here and there. No, this dress was a pale blue, like her eyes, chiffon-like fabric, having always loved dresses with a bit of a vintage feel and a good twirl. It was detailed with a gentle flower lace around her waist and neck line, and quarter length sleeves. That was the only downside to the dress was how it showed her arms.
They'd healed from the burns since the Blossom Ball in April, but had left scars up to her elbow in their wake. It was easy day to day to hide them beneath the long sleeves of her uniform or under a jumper, but that hardly seemed appropriate for an End Of The Year dance. Perhaps she could power through it for just tonight though.
The girl pulled her thick hair into a loose, half up-half down bun, slipped on a pair of flats, stowed her wand away in the deep pocket of her dress, took a deep breath and dared to walk out of her safety of her dorm room. The entire walk towards the girl kept her eyes cast down at her feet, arms self consciously.
As she entered the room, she finally looked up and around the room. How the house elves managed to get all of the massive tables out of the way, she'd never know, but the room was amazing with its lights and music (and thankfully not a candle in sight). She relaxed slightly as she looked around herself, spying a couple of her housemates here and there, including her prefect. Not that she knew the girl very well, but well enough to know she wasn't unlike herself, and certainly not someone to trifle with.
Taking one more glance around the room, Illowy made her way towards an open wall, assuming the position she would have preferred to have taken at the Blossom Ball, as a wallflower. Pale eyes swept back and forth as people arrived slowly and began mingling. Hopefully, tonight would be an innocent night of fun to celebrate their first year.
I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.

Parties were supposed to be fun celebrations, which was why Koko had thrown on a pair of violet Converse and a white blouse, all set with a dark pair of jeans. She was dressed like a Muggle. But these clothes were super comfortable, were they not?
The girl made her way to the Great Hall carefully. She didn't want to slip and fall, as she wasn't used to these shoes, but she also wanted to get there in a hurry. And when she finally arrived, fear grabbed her shoulders and shook her intensely. Yes, fear. Fear of a certain violet-haired student ( @Luna Choi ) that she would be avoiding if all went well.
She saw a person talking to said purple-haired girl, and Koko made a quick decision to avoid that girl ( @Elena Jangleton ) as well. She was probably just as terrifying. Koko was always one to leap to conclusions, but this, she knew, had to be the right thing to do. Anyone to trust the prefect had to be insane.
And then Koko saw someone that she might make conversation with - that one girl who had gone with her to stalk a detention. Koko flipped her hair, which was tied in a braid, over her shoulder as she strode up to the other Slytherin whose name she couldn't remember. "I remember you... Weren't you there when Fridge gave a detention to that Hufflepuff?" Koko smiled grandly. "That day was one of the best of my life." Yes, this little child could be ruthless at times. She would have forced that girl to go clean the stables in Care of Magical Creatures. But she supposed what Fridge had done would suffice.
Seeing what the Slytherin in front of her (@Illowy Magnard) wore, Koko began to feel a bit out of place. At least she had dressed up. She hadn't come wearing her school uniform, though she didn't look half bad in it. She did, however, see a redheaded girl wearing her school uniform ( @Nico Shymane ) and felt tempted to talk to her. Still, Koko was feeling a bit shy, and she didn't want to talk to any level of authority just yet. Even if it was a girl in her own year who was a level of authority... Just no. Koko was fine talking to normal Slytherin First and Second Years. Prefects, she had decided, were scary.

Yeah... no.
Another party? Jeez, Hogwarts threw these things out like they were participation certificates. People constantly got hurt at these parties, and fights always broke out. After owling Serena for a bit, Millie had gotten the gist of what had happened at the Blossom Ball the year prior. But Serena hadn't attended the second ball, and neither had Millie. Not that she was particularly fond of events, that was a stretch.
But as fate would have it. she found herself walking to the Great Hall. She decided that at least, she could say hi to one of her friends and then bail. Maybe she could get a group of her friends and all of them could bail this stupid party. Not that that Ravenclaw prefect, Arc, hadn't put any thought into this. It was obvious the boy had.
The temptation to leave the party as soon as she arrived as very strong. She didn't recognize anyone, and she didn't want to start a conversation with someone new. It wasn't as though she disliked talking to people, but she just didn't like talking to unknown people. Or starting conversations- yeah maybe she was a little bit antisocial.
"This is a nice party and all, but I think I'm going to bail." She mumbled to herself. Without staying in the Hall for more than ten minutes, she walked off.

Illowy's attention was caught as a familiar face started up to her. Illowy offered a small smile, hands held at the small of her back as she leaned against the wall, "You mean Mari?" she nodded in agreement, "That fruitloop had it coming to her. She's not exactly the full shilling, and a bigot to boot." Illowy informed, cold eyes sweeping across the room for a moment, as though double checking that Mari really wasn't there.
Since having begun trying to deal with and work through the events of the Blossom Ball with herself, Mari had become the bane of her existence, watering the seeds of self doubt and hatred that had already been planted in Illowy's mind; try as she might to push such thoughts and ideas away, "I think cleaning the stables or the owlry would have been more suitable, but that's my opinion I guess." the girl shrugged with a thoughtful smirk as the image played out in her mind.
A familiar face popped in and out of the party for a moment. A dark haired Gryffindor that seemed to have an affinity for comforting Slytherins having a mental breakdown in the middle of the hallway. Not that Illowy was quite ready to admit to that. She offered hardly anything more then a short glance at Euphrasia before turning her attention back to Koko.
"I still can't believe she actually tried to cast a spell at you, and right in front of Luna... that girl doesn't exactly mess around." she added.
