Fresh from the Hogwarts Express, Delaney smoothed her robes, holding her belongings tight to herself as she observed the landing area and the flock of students. She hadn't been expecting them to arrive this late, the moon already shining down on them and illuminating her path. Before she could get anywhere far, as if she knew where she was going anyway, an adult, likely one who actually worked at the school, called along the first years. A tour, perhaps?

Either way, she didn't mind. Though she tried her best to hide it, there was an underlying tension in her body she couldn't quite seem to shake. Fish out of water- no pun intended- was an understatement. Even in her robes and with her magic stick, Delaney felt as though she stuck out like a sore thumb, clueless after being thrown into the magical world. Following behind a group of some other first years, Ruckus leads them down to an arrangement of boats, each color-coded with several rubber duckies. She'd never been so relieved to see something so mundane and familiar.

Picking the boat with blue ducks accompanying it, Delaney approached its edge, noticing two girls already sitting inside it and another speaking to them. Standing beside the girl (Eirene) who had arrived just before her, she managed to catch the last few words of her questioning about there being room for another. "Make that two," Delaney chimed in after her, smiling slightly as she briefly looked to the girl beside her, then peering at the two already in the blue boat.

Lev wasn’t surprised anymore when Lemmy once again started to talk. He was even slightly impressed: how was it possible for someone to have so much to say and not be nervous saying it? Lev wished he could be like that, although he would prefer keeping the self-awareness that Lemmy obviously lacked. He didn’t mind how talkative the other boy was — he could speak for the both of them — but Lev imagined most people would quickly get annoyed. He was just happy someone was talking to him. It was almost endearing the way Lemmy repeated his and Lev’s name over and over again. It made Lev feel all warm and fuzzy inside for some reason. Even if the other’s fast speech was giving him a bit of a headache.

So many strange words came tumbling out of the half-goblin’s mouth: giant squid, ravenclaw, sorted . Lev frowned, the worry evident on his face. He kept looking down at the dark waters where the ducks were still bobbing around. At one point he thought he saw a large shadow, but it was most likely his imagination playing tricks on him. It didn’t stop him from panicking though. Lev was hoping Lemmy would keep carrying the whole conversation and he wouldn’t need to speak on a topic he had no clue about whilst being terrified of being eaten by a giant squid, but Lemmy seemed more interested in what others had to say than he had initially thought. He asked a question about getting sorted, looking expectantly at Lev.

”Um.. He hesitated “Nope.. Don’t really have a preference or anything. The timid boy stayed quiet for a few seconds before suddenly looking up from his knees, his cheek red. “I actually have no clue what you’re talking about. Houses? All of that is a mystery to me. He scratched the back of his neck. “Sorry L-Lemmy..” Lemmy seemed nice, but Lev really didn’t want him to think he was an idiot. “The giant squid thing was just a joke though. … right?”

Okay, well, ice cream was definitely one thing to jump to. He didn't aim for it and was honestly caught a bit off guard, even more so once the boat started to rock. However, the boy decided it was best to merely go with the flow, for now at least. It also helped that ice cream was one of man's greatest inventions. They would at least be discussing an important and clearly intellectual topic.

"Grand Ice Lord of Cookies and Cream," Aodhan said curtly and nodded to himself in satisfaction. A solid name for the most part. Definitely better than his first option of "Ultra Supreme Ice Lord" or his second option of "Super Duper Ice Lord." Both of those were honestly a mouthful.

Then, just as he was about to comment on the name Ice Lemon—he'd never even heard of lemon ice cream before—the brown haired girl's following words made him pause... only for his lips to split into a wide, goofy smile. Was she onto him? Her playful gaze implied as much. Perhaps his story was a bit too far-fetched this time around.

"I mean, if we had enemies then yeah, but they're way more careful. Experts like them wouldn't make it so obvious," he stated while leaning back against the boat, feeling its wobbling eventually subside, "In fact, their codenames weren't based on ice cream anyway. It's way cooler stuff."

The youth hummed and pondered on his next move. He supposed that before his joke could get sabotaged, it would be good to push things along. "That did help my memory, though, so you guys are in luck!" Allowing himself to get lost in his own dramatic showing, Aodhan began repeatedly hitting his legs, the sounds flowing into a makeshift drumroll.

"Ladies! Prepare yourselves for the grand event! According to my mental files, the name of my form changing friend was..." He stopped the movement of his hands and lifted a palm to his eyes, as if reading from a note, "Iceyoopoo!"

... From an outside perspective, the shit-eating grin on his face was not at all justified.

Novalie listened as Vera revealed her favorite ice cream flavor: lemon with chocolate sprinkles?
What kind of fancy flavor was that?
Novalie had barely eaten anything beyond vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry, but lemon with chocolate sprinkles? That sounded epic! She silently vowed to try it someday.

The boy, however, upped the game with his chosen name: 'Grand Ice Lord of Cookies and Cream'.
Novalie looked at him in pure amazement - he was so cool!

Then the other girl in the boat mentioned that going by ice cream flavor names could be suspicious and Novalie nodded in agreement. It definitely wasn’t a well thought out idea. But when the boy revealed that they hadn’t actually used ice cream names, her curiosity piqued.
What could their real names have been?

"Ladies! Prepare yourselves for the grand event!", the boy announced dramatically, "According to my mental files, the name of my form changing friend was ... Iceyoopoo!"

Novalie’s eyes wideneded, realizing just now that he was completely making it up.
And then it hit her - she burst into loud laughter, clutching her stomach!
"Hahahaha! I see you poo!", she managed to get out between giggles.
It was just too funny!

Far from feeling tricked, Novalie was even more impressed by the boy. In her mind, he had to be incredibly popular! Her amusement was so intense, that her deep red hair gradually shifted to a blonde ombré.
"Ah... I can’t..", she breathed, wiping tears from her eyes, which had returned to their green hue, but still sparkling in a lighter shade though.

Camilla was sort of in a daze from the whole experience on the train thanks to interactions with certain upper years (shoutout to @Evelynn Decipio) and was late to pick a boat. But with so much going on, she just did what she thought would be the easiest thing to do: insert herself unprompted into a conversation and hope that things turned out for the best.

So she picked a boat at random and got onto it. The two kids onboard -- a shy, quiet one and one with glasses -- seemed to be talking about Hogwarts Houses. Perfect.

"Well, I think I'm obviously going to end up in Gryffindor. People say I'm too much of a troublemaker to properly belong anywhere else." She all but declared as she boarded the boat net to her yearmates. "I'm Carter, by the way. Camilla Carter. And I'll be bringing soccer and basketball to Hogwarts, just you wait."

Wait. That was too grandstanding, maybe she souldn't start like that. "It's...erm. ice to meet both of you, I hope we all get along really well this year!" A small, evil grin. "OR even better, if we don't. Nothing like a little bit of a rivalry to make things really really spicy, don't you think?"

The entire conversation kind of escaped from Vera the second the boy started weasling his way out of her jab. She sat there with a dubious smile on her face through his entire grand revelation, but in the end...

"Iceyoopoo!"

... the punchline drew an unexpected snort from her, scraping uncomfortably against her throat.

"You pipe," she got out with the slight smile still hanging on her face, "I knew you were messing with us, Mister Grand Ice Lord!" For good measure, she gave his left shin a light kick. It wasn't enough to cause any kind of damage, but enough to sting a bit.

The - not anymore redhead?? - girl next to her was still giggling and literally shifting in front of their eyes. What're you supposed to do in a situation like this? Is there like a counter spell or something?

At a loss for a solution, Vera settles for a slight shoulder-to-shoulder bump and a "Are you okay, Vanilla Ice?". The smile on her face was equal parts real and unsure. She so needed a trip to the library or somewhere as soon as possible to find something more about this. Or she could ask the girl about it at some point if she didn't mind... She was getting ahead of herself, again.

She looked over at the boy, hoping for some kind of input.

- "I like the colour of your voice."
- "Thanks, it's #22706f.... No wait- don't leave!"

Aodhan could only snicker along with his peers, a familiar warmth engulfing his chest knowing his joke successfully landed. The best moments in life were moments filled with joy and laughter, that much was sure, and the boy was convinced he'd never grow tired of this feeling. So when he was playfully kicked, he instantly released an exaggerated yelp and clutched his poor, poor shin.

"Agh! You dare attack me like this? Your cookies and cream king?!" he tried to exclaim despite the giggles cascading out of his mouth. However, silence for once took hold of the boy not long afterward. The color-shifting girl had decided to become... blonde? Or perhaps it would be more apt to say her glee pushed her to this state. After all, she did mention lacking control over her strange (but really really cool) power.

He shared a look with the brown haired girl, noticing the uncertainty clear in her expression, and merely shrugged in response. Were they meant to try and calm her down? He kind of didn't want to, not when this was such a spectacle to behold. For a moment, a not-so-kind thought popped into his mind, as he wondered what other colors she'd reveal if something like anger came over her. Thankfully, he brushed that aside. That could come later. Or maybe it wouldn't.

"Hey, hey, don't just change your hair and die laughing on us," he eventually said and leaned over to try poking the "blonde" in her side, "Your codename demands you say 'Ice Ice Baby.' Die after that." Aodhan ignored the fact that was the only part of the song he knew.

Colby's stomach was beginning to growl and they were still awaiting first years to get on their boats. What was taking them so long? Just choose a boat and let's go. It would have been great to have the boat to herself, but now that someone joined, it was bound to have more people joining soon enough.

And yet, Colby was right. Within a few minute time span, two more individuals came onto her blue boat. One asked politely and jumped on in. She seemed pretty friendly. And the other piggybacked on the first girl's ask. Their boat was now officially full. Colby retracted her legs some more to make room for the two new girls.

Though, right now, Colby was not interested in making friends. She was interested in stuffing her face with food. She did fight the urge of not wanting to talk to them to actually starting conversation. They were, for however long, going to be stuff on a duck boat with these people. Might as well help time move along.

"I heard there's a huge squid living in the lake," she said, looking out at the dark waters. "I wonder when it comes out," she said aloud, unknown of how others may feel about the lake and water in general. Colby's stomach grumbled again, this time a lot louder than usual. She wondered, with all the side chatter of people in other boats, if her grumbly stomach was heard by her boat peers.

Lemmy was mostly oblivious to whether or not Lev was still paying attention as he rambled on, but it did bring a further smile to his face when he finally noticed him still paying attention. The talkative youngster had grown used to the long stares and glazed over looks that people often gave him went he went on too long. However, Lev seemed happy for Lemmy to carry on and so he did. The self awareness that the other boy held onto dearly was something Lemmy wished he could obtain and perhaps in time he would achieve a bit of it. Whether Lemmy have his head in the clouds daydreaming or spouting on like he was now, his energy and enthusiasm could hinder him from time to time. While some would find it infectious, others were quickly annoyed by it and it either lead to confrontation or feelings of rejection every so often. However, in this boat now, Lev was perhaps overwhelmed a bit, but deemed to be warming to the young pat-Goblin.

Lemmy only nodded and smiled as Lev professed not to have any preference for school house. It was an uncommon opinion as many children wished to follow after their parents or perhaps favorite aunt or uncle, but it was one that Lemmy shared as well. His mother had been in Ravenclaw, but he really couldn't wait to see what the Sorting Hat had in store for him. Just as he was about to further the topic Lev would make the admission that he had no knowledge of what he was actually talking about. The realization hit Lemmy like a ton of bricks. "Oh my goodness." His little eyes bulged and his hands cupped his face as he looked over Lev in a new light. "You must be Muggle-born. Merlin's beard! I've finally met one." Unbeknownst to his new friend, Lemmy had been sheltered away from the Muggle world. Much like many other wizarding families, but perhaps more so due to their Goblin heritage. Hard to hide Grandpa Larluff's striking differences and all that. "No, I'm afraid the giant squid is no joke. Has lived in this lake for generations." Lemmy answered rather nonchalantly before he just about continued. "Now, you must tell me where you're from, Lev!"

However, just before he could dig in further with his new friend, a girl with marvelously red hair would hop in the boat just before it got too far off the dock. "Gryffindor!" Lemmy repeated with a raised brow. "Could be fitting for a troublemaker I suppose. It's a pleasure to meet you Camilla. I am Lemmy LaRue and this here is my new friend Lev Makarov." He took the honor of introducing them. "Now tell me." Lemmy leaned forward on his knees and gave her a skeptical look. "What on earth is soccer and basketball?" His sheltered upbringing shining through his question, but Camilla's next statement would have his brows rising again. "Grandmother often says that competition and rivalry can often strengthen a bond between friends. Challenge accepted." Lemmy finished with a matching mischievous smile.

Novalie was still wiping away tears of laughter when she felt a light shoulder bump from Lemon Chocolate Sprinkles, who asked if she was alright. Confused, Novalie hadn’t yet noticed her hair had changed color and wondered if her laughter had sounded like she was in pain or something.

"Huh? Yeah, I’m fine. Why-?", she started to ask, but as a breeze caught a strand of her hair and it fluttered in front of her eyes, she realized what had happened.
"Oh, yes, that’s-", she began, but before she could finish, the boy poked her in the side!

Novalie jumped in her seat, letting out a squeak as the poke sent her into more fits of laughter.
"Ah- Wait, wait, wait-!", she cried, scooting a bit away from him in a playful attempt to dodge any further attacks. Catching her breath, she hastily complied with his demand, "Ice Ice Baby!"

She chuckled - Novalie was pretty sure that was from an old song she'd heard somewhere before. Wasn’t it? Either way, it amused her.

With a grin, the Metamorphmagus bowed dramatically in her seat, "I hope you can forgive my rude mistake in not fulfilling my duties as your loyal Vanilla Ice soldier, Mister Grand Ice Lord. Lemon Chocolate Sprinkles and I will be sure to follow every command from now on."

Without hesitation and with no remorse, she pulled the other girl into the game, winking at her with a bright smile, "Right, Lemon Chocolate Sprinkles?"
