Cleaning with friends

She had heard about the disastrous Blossomfest Ball event and was happy that she decided not to go to it. But she did want to see what happened to the area and was very excited when her professor said that they were looking for students to help clean up. Her first thought was why can’t the house elf’s do it then she realized that it was probably a very big task to do and they want students to take responsibility and help. Also it was a chance for her to branch out a bit and she had invited some of her quidditch friends to join her. Over a few owls she had somehow convinced 4 quidditch friends to join her and they seemed excited to earn the house points that were being given out. It seemed kind of crazy that they were giving out 5 house points to each person that helped out. Her house needed the points since they were behind by quite a bit. Also she wanted to be one of the top point earners without doing homework, which seemed kind of hard but this was a great way to do just that.
On her assigned day she had decided that she would be the first one there out of her group since she was the one who had organized it. It took some convincing to get Lavinia out of her cozy bed that morning until she remembered how excited she was to help out. As she got out of bed and put her clothes on some of her classmates stirred around her. Lavinia being as quite as she could left the room and headed towards the door that is the exit to the common room. Once she was out of Ravenclaw tower she took the path to the grounds and headed towards the quidditch pitch to grab her broom since they were aloud to bring it. After that she headed towards the mess that was the Blossomfest ball.
It was awful. There were chairs everywhere and the tables looked burned and totally destroyed. It just looked like the ball was yesterday and nothing really was getting cleaned up. Lavinia walked over to a chair and decided that she would have to start somewhere and why not with chairs? She put her broom to the side and started a stack of chairs to the left of the dance floor and just stacked chair after chair. Some of them had a hole through the middle were it had been burned through and others just were very beaten up. But Lavinia was determined to earn these house points and just needs her friends to show up so she could have someone to talk to. It had been only 5 minutes of being out here before she spotted a figure walking towards her and thought YES! Someone is here and decided to show up to help out. As the person walked closer and closer Lavinia could tell who it was and said to them: Hi! Thanks for coming, I’ve started on the chairs and plan to finish them, there’s a few other items to do if you could decide to tackle one of them. without 2 seconds of a pause she started again Oh, and let’s have some fun with this bonding experience. Hoping that they got the memo she went back to the chairs.

Cleaning with friends
The Campground was a mess. The chairs were toppled over and scattered, some tables were burnt and in an awkward position, rotten foods were strewn everywhere, the floors were cracked, and there was just chaos all around. What annoyed Arc the most when he reached the place where the Blossom Ball occurred was the smell though. The place had this weird putrid stench lingering in the air. It must have been the mix of teen spirit and rotten foods. Not that the boy had ever experienced this kind of smell before.
Arc Perscivious was invited to help cleaned the Campgrounds by one of his friends from the Ravenclaw Quidditch Team named Lavinia Cloven. But he was already intending to go help the clean-up when he heard Professor Vernatis gave the announcement, anyway. Doing this with his friends would make everything faster while making it less boring, though. The extra five points was a good incentive as well, like a ribbon on a gift or a red cherry on top of an ice cream sundae. So, he was pretty excited, to say the least. Even though it didn’t really show on his face.
When the dark-haired boy arrived to the scene, he could see that Lavinia had already arrived. More so, she had started cleaning up. Diligent as ever, she was certainly a good role model for all eagles. Arc looked around and the Campground was still fairly empty. There was only one other group doing the clean-up besides them. He spotted his best friend in that group, but she was already busy coordinating with her own team. It would be sort of rude to bother them.
The young Ravenclaw walked closer to his teammate and gave a wave to her. Lavinia, who was busy stacking the chair spotted him and spoke,
The boy gauged his surrounding before continuing, "I would probably look around first before deciding what I’ll help doing. Oh, and let’s!”
Arc looked around again, with more scrutiny this time, and started listing the things that needed to be done. He skipped the removal of the wooden flooring for now as he did not have that much upper body strength and he didn’t want to tire himself out quickly. He also didn’t like the idea of placing the rotten food to the trash bags as he had a sensitive nose and he would like to avoid the rotten foods if he could. And Lavinia was already stacking the chairs. So, that left him with only a few options.
His Quidditch team captain, Emma Hill, had told them to borrow a broom from the Quidditch Field as it could help with the clean-up while serving as practice. And she was spot-on. The broom would be useful to remove the fairy lights that was still attached to the trees and such. Angie also had made sure that it was green-lit by Professor Vernatis to use the broom outside the field.
But for now, Arc chose to collect the linen from the ground and the tables and put his broom aside. The boy slowly picked up the linen one-by-one and put them in a bag that was already provided. As he started collecting them, he would realize one crucial detail. How could there be so many of linens?! Huh. This could take longer than what he first thought.
Dang.

Angellica was thirsty to prove herself, nothing would ever stop her from excelling. After the A she had received that had tainted her report card. At every turn she had done all in her power to get in the good graces of faculty and staff. Nothing would stand in her way of becoming a star within her house. Though she had looks going for her, she wanted to be known for her wit, her ability. She wanted to push her limits test them, and though cleaning was definitely not the type of means by which she would normally attempt to prove herself, she was still feeling overly bad for her last homework for Professor Vernatis. She'd been so excited that she'd missed the point of one of the questions. In the end she'd still received an Exceeds Expectations, but it should have been an O, and when he offered a chance to do something, anything, she signed up, especially when she had friends participating in the clean up. It wouldn't actually help her grade, but it had house points attached, and she planned to give as many points to her house as she could.
For the session that might as well be deemed detention, she dressed down if that were even possible. Hair in two silver blonde braids falling over her shoulders. Ripped grey jeans hugged her lack of curves, a tank top tucked under a plaid shirt that was opened to show the shirt beneath. It was the sort of attire she would have worn in an equestrian setting. Not today though, she'd shown up with other members of the Quidditch team to do what they had to. If anything it would be great team building activity. There were things to do, and between the five of them they could definitely achieve their means. Probably in record time too.
"Hey Lavinia," she greeted the brunette with a grin. "Hey Arc," she continued as she marched over to the two around. The entire place was a disaster center. Food, scorch marks, just a mess everywhere one looked. She tried not to let it overwhelm her. "We can use our brooms to help divide and conquer this," she smiled trying to see the best in the situation, but the smell of deteriorating food, and the general mess around, well, it didn't bode well for them. At least it would look good on them to have assisted in the task, and Angellica did like to look good, even if she had to get dirty to do so. With her team by her side, she had no doubt that they could at least bond some more, perhaps even share some banter, but first and foremost, she had to ensure she managed her task in the clean up. "Nothing like teamwork to build a stronger team right?" It might not be quidditch related, but bonding was important for a good team, and she did love being on the team.
She'd managed to get the green light from the Professor in charge for the use of their brooms. They just had to get everything sorted before they could use them to help out. This would be good, she just had to overcome how disgusting everything was.

Cleaning with friends

River walked over to one of the windows of the Ravenclaw tower, thank god it’s cloudy outside. She had been getting ready for the cleanup, and was hoping to not have to shower in sunscreen first, or bring an umbrella for that sake. Still, she had taken precaution and decided to wear something to protect against eventual sunlight, black loose denim pants and a dark green long sleeved shirt, and she was also wearing her signature black converse shoes. Her hair, red as ever, laid loose over her shoulders and framed her pale face. Her eyes were tired looking, and the sircles were as dark as usual. Still, she was ready for the day, and ready to clean up the crazy mess left from the well known Blossom Ball.
As she headed on her way to the grounds, she begun thinking of that day. The day of the event, the ball that was supposed to be such an amazing, fun and harmless experience. She had attended the ball, but as usual, she decided to leave before any of the interesting stuff broke out. In some way, she was quite bummed that she didn’t catch the breakout of horror, but some part of her knew that it probably wouldn’t have been too fun. Chaos and distruction, that was not really something River enjoyed. She was somewhat of a perfectionist, especially during certain situations and areas, otherwise, she could find some peace in trouble every now and then.
As she walked out onto the grounds, she felt the wonderfull feeling of a slight breeze on her skin. It wasn’t particularly cold or anything, but it was certainly refreshing. Perhaps there was even a weak sign of coming rain in the air? So far though, the ground was dry, but the clouds seemed heavy. In the distance, River could see the remains of the historical event. The ruins of an ancient myth... or at least what it would become it seemed. People talked about this thing everywhere one went. There was no way to get through the day without hearing something of it. Perhaps cleaning things up would help set peoples minds at ease? That was at least what River was hoping for.
Her gray and blue eyes could also spot someone in the distance, one... two... three people. Was it her team, or someone else who had decided to help out? A little bit over, she could see some others too, there had to be someone from her group already present, right?
As she approaced the mess of the grounds, she saw who the people were. Lavinia, Arc and Angellica, they were the early ones. River gave a small wave as she came up closer to the crash on the ground. «Don’t say you started the fun without me?, she said as she approaced with a careful smile on her face. Her voice was attempting a certain tone of sarcastic humor, but one could hear she wasn’t very good at that.
River scanned the surroundings, and they were barely recognizable from that evening. All the chairs were scattered, the dancefloor was crashed and everything was just a huge mess of a previous Ball. One could sense in the air that the stench of old punch and food lingered in the atmosphere around them. Where even do I begin?WC| 560/1000

Cleaning with friends
After hearing about the disastrous events that occurred at the Blossom Ball, she tried to stay as far away from the crime scene as possible, but she wasn't going to say no to accommodating the professors or the Quidditch team. She was still hesitant about cleaning and the only reason she'd arrived was to spend time with the team, it would make cleaning a lot easier if she had someone to talk with. It was a simplistic alternative to earning house points and put the professors out of their misery, or in other words, to give them a break. They were down by a few points, but there was nothing a little teamwork couldn't handle. The assignment was essentially like an unofficial post-game icebreaker.
In the Ravenclaw tower, Emma lunged herself out of bed and put on some of her natural clothes. Cleaning in a robe was going to be a hassle. Bearing an old grey tank top and a pair of denim jeans, she made her way down to the campgrounds with a broom in her hand and a wand unsafely in her back pocket; there was nowhere else to keep it. She had never ventured to do the two simultaneously, but what's life without a few challenges? Hopefully, cleansing the place would go a lot faster with these.
Almost every event went down in flames, metaphorically or in this case, literally. It seemed that every Blossom Ball ended up in flames, it was a mental note to never ever attend one. The scenario reminded her of siblings. How they could destroy a kitchen, put a hole in the wall, and shatter windows. They always found a way to pin the blame on their sibling. Here the five were cleaning up a mess they hadn't participated in, at least, not to her knowledge.
Drawing closer to the scene, the brunette quickly recognized her team members and another group of cleaning already starting. Amongst the bunch, she saw one of her friends, a Hufflepuff with distinctive brown hair she hadn't seen anyone with. Though she was still a distance away, she waved briefly and hurried her way down to the scene to began cleaning up the mess. She wanted to get it over with as soon as possible while having fun with the team. Then the aroma hit her hard. The smell of rotten food seemed to overpower the usual earthy smell the grounds of Hogwarts had, but as she drew closer, she realized maybe she should have left the food to the bugs. While insects didn't bother her as much as it should have, the sight was repulsive, causing her skin to crawl. Was this really the same place she had spent her summer?
"Hey, guys," Emma called out to the members that were already cleaning, waving again now that was closer. "Linen and chairs are being worked on, that leaves the dance floor, fountain, food, and lights. I'll take the food if someone can help with the floor." She announced, pointing to the plates of rotting food the bugs had already managed to get their hands on. Each looked disgusting, but it wasn't like she was going to be touching them anyways. That was what magic was for. She made her way over to the wooden floor and set her broom next to her workplace. Splinters and cuts were in her future. Fun.WC » 565/1000

Cleaning with friends
An overcast sky loomed overhead, and the blonde tried not to let the smells from the wreckage that was the vestiges of the Blossom Ball. Emma had decided on food, Emma was about to work on the food, Lavinia had begun on the chairs, and Arc had started on the linens. It made Angellica feel happy that she had a chance to go with what she had hoped to be able to do. Of course she would help anyone if they needed it.
"I'll get the fairy lights," she chimed, her hold on the broom shifting. Oh she'd been itching to take to the skies. "Afterwards, we can all fly the things to their final location," she added with a grin.
Before anyone else could counter her choice of chore, the blonde settled her broom down and summoned it with a single firm "UP!" The wood shot up into the air to rest against her palm. Soon she was off towards the trees. From where she was, she could see her team hard at work.
Part of her felt like she had copped out, but touching any sort of wet food that had been in another's mouth made her want to vomit. Steady on her broom she cast those thoughts aside and held herself steady in the air as she detached the first set of lights. She'd always been agile, but this required ever more agility. Although as a beater agility wasn't as needed as strength, it was the one thing that she was still working on. After a summer of training, she hoped she could come back stronger for the following years.
It took time, but she managed it, untangling one long rope of fairy lights. It was heavy, and it made her small frame quiver as she brought the loop of lights down to where it needed to be. They were heavier than they seemed, which was great for her, given she hoped to grow her upper body strength. With a smile she flashed her teammates she shot up again, wiping her brow before getting to the second length of lights.
By the fifth set of lights, she felt aches in her limbs. That strain in her arms and shoulders, but she continued. This was the task she had chosen, and the one that would benefit her the most. It wasn't easy work, not as easy as she might have considered it to be at first. When she finally came down, she wiped her brow again.
"How do we want to take these bags and flooring?" she asked. They looked heavy, she could only imagine how many runs they would have to do to get it all. "Also does anyone need a helping hand?" She dreaded having to touch something that had been in contact with a mouth but she was willing to do what it took to help her team do their good deed. Life wasn't always pleasant, just like this task wasn't pleasant in the least.

River took a quick glance around the area, mamy of the different tasks were being tackled by her teammates. That left one thing she could do, and she was not happy about it, though still, willing to do it. The punch... «I’ll get the punch then», she said, with a tone of disgust beneath her voice. River didn’t entirely know if she thought the punch or the food would be worst. They had both been sitting there for just as long, and the food would probably be harder to remove as well. She tried making herself feel a little better, as she went over to the fountain of punch sitting there. Is this the one that was effected by veritaserum? River remembered someone talking about that whole situation if veritaserum in the punch. Luckily, when she attended, she decided not to have any of it, so she herself was not effected at all. It would explain all the strange acting people at that ball though, or even at the fest by the lake. The lake... I wonder how messy that place looks right now.
River looked down into the little pool of punch in front of her. A whiff of stench reaced her nostrils, as her nose wrinkled up with disgust. She reached out her gloved hand, and quickly drained the fountain out. The smell seemed to get more potent as the punch slowly but surely dissapeared from view.
River sendt her broom a quick glance, there wasn’t really any use for it while doing this task, and really, she was fine with that. She’d rather stand there and do it, rather than attempt to drain the punch fountain while hovering in one spot on her broom.
I was supposed to clean it out too right?
River knew the answer to her subconcious question. And really wished she’d learned the cleaning spell by now, as washing the fountain by hand would take way longer than simply casting a spell to do it for her. The job would have been way more precise and thourough as well.
River hastily walked over and grabbed a cloth and some soap water, and headed back to the fountain. It still stunk like a strange mixture of a sewer and rotten fruit... I wonder if the veritaserum will still work if you drink the punch now? River thought as she watched the last little bit of punch dissapear from the bottom of the fountain. She was definitely not going to have a taste and see if the veritaserum would work or not.
She dunked her cloth in some soapy water, and begun scrubbing. This strange, gross, slimy layer of punch had stuck itself onto the walls and floor of the fountain. Luckily it was not the hardest to remove though. As River continued scrubbing away, she looked up to see how the others were doing. Some were on brooms, others weren’t, Emma was working on the food, Angellica was taking down fairy lights, Arc was on with the linens, and Lavinia had definitely made some good progress with the chairs.
River continued washing the fountain, until she could not find any more remains of punch to possibly remove. She threw the dirty soap and punch, covered cloth into the bucket of water, and turned to the others. «The fountain’s good, anybody need any help with anything?», she asked in the general direction of everyone. She was willing to help out, as it would get them finished faster and all she currently wanted, was to get back inside and read her book.WC | 560+596= 1156/1000

Cleaning with friends
Most linens that were used for bed sheets or table linens were made from the fibers of a plant called Linum usitatissimum or more commonly known as flax, the common flax, or linseed. It was harder to make, with laborious process, but was stronger, more absorbent, and dried faster than cotton. But that was just another unimportant trivia that popped out in the young boy’s mind as he pulled and collected the linen one by one. Wasn’t there like…a faster, more efficient way to do this?!
There were many other trivia that he had thought of as he kept on working, like the origin of the word linen -which was from the West Germany by the way- or how the linen was used as a form of currency in ancient Egypt, and many more. He also had tried singing a version of the ’99 Bottles of Beer’ song he just created called ’99 Linens’. But it was still all too boring and tedious. Why, oh, why had he agreed to this? He could have finished a book or something! It must have been at least three hours.
Arc took out his pocket watch, only to see that only twenty minutes had passed. “What?! That can’t be right…” He said out loud to himself.
But it could be right and it was. Even his friends for the event were only joining him for the cleaning up. A pretty girl with two silver blonde braids falling over her shoulders came and greeted both Lavinia and him. “Hey, Angellica,” said Arc with a wave. Another girl with red loose hair over her shoulders and tired gray and blue eyes also came and gave them a wave and greeting. “Hey, River,” Arc said with a wave again, happy to give another excuse not to pull another linen. And finally, his captain arrived. Emma Hill walked to the Campgrounds wearing an old, gray tank top with a broom in her hand. “Hey, Capt,” he wrapped his rounds of greetings up.
As all of the gang had finally arrived, they then started doing their own task to make the clean-up faster. And Arc had no reason to dilly-dally anymore. If he could finish his task and helped his friends do another, they could finish all this faster and go home earlier. The Ravenclaw Prefect pulled linens with renewed vigor and moved faster than ever. Well, not really. But before he knew it, he had pulled the last linen in his section and put it in the bags that had been provided. Now, he could help in another task.
The flooring still needed to be removed while the fountain needed to be drained and cleaned. Hm. Which one should he do? Looking at his lanky upper body and arm, he would like to choose the later task. But River beat him to the punch. Taking deep breaths, he walked to the dancefloor and started removing the wooden flooring. Or not. This was not a task for one person. At the very least, this was certainly not a task for one Arc. "Uh, girls, a little help with the flooring here..." He tried asking his teammates. The dark-haired boy was sure that one of them would help him.
Probably.

Probably.

Cleaning with friends
Emma pinched her nose at the smell of the rotten food. The professors couldn't simply port them into another universe, or even a dumpster for the matter? The combination of the earthy atmosphere and repugnant did not consolidate well, but even so, she sucked in a breath and made her way over to the tables, a large bag for trash and her wand in both hands. If there was one thing that gave her hope, it was that she wouldn't be touching the food with her bare hands.
The repulsive smell was worse than ever, causing her to hold her breath, but the sooner she got it over with, the more time she'd have to scavenge the library. However, she had been in many detentions to know that this was far worse. She held the bag open and drew her wand, ready to cast any spell that helped her with the task, and just her for, she knew the perfect spell to help with the task. It was rather obvious once past the offensive spells she'd learned.
"Wingardium Leviosa," she said softly, trying her best not to gag as the food rose and the bug dropped down to the table and scurried away. Each plate of food landed with a subtle plop at the bottom of the trash bag a little too soft to be recognized as food. She did not want to be near this bag any longer. Poor trash cans. Cleaning one table was already enough, but cleaning multiple was pushing it further than she could handle. Her bag was halfway filled and the odor continued to hit her ungracefully in the face, showing her absolutely no mercy. Just two more to go, and she'd be free to do other things. Well, cleaning, anything was better than this. Once finished, she secured her bag and tied the loose ends into a knot and dropped it immediately, shaking her hands as if trying to shake off the odor.
"Be there in a sec!" She chirped in response to his response for help, picking up the bag once more and throwing it to the side for later. This looked manageable, but not just for herself and Arc alone. "Can you guys come here for a second?"

Cleaning with friends
Angellica nodded at her team Captain's words to join her for a sec. It seemed the flooring needed a few more hands, and the blonde was more than happy to help. Perhaps she'd gain some arm muscles to help her in her position as a beater. She was mainly just excited to be with the team, to belong. Of all the groups she had come in contact with, she liked that her teammates felt like they could count on her for such a task.
"I gotcha guys," she nodded in response, setting herself to work and assisting to pull the dance floor apart. It wasn't easy work, but between the team, it wasn't so bad, just like every other chore had been achieved in quite the short amount of time. They were strong off the field, and she couldn't wait to see them back on the field.
"Let's take all of this where it belongs" she pointed to the bags and flooring, mounting her broom once more and waiting for the others to fly off into the skies and end their task. Soon they'd be able to go back to Professor Vernatis and speak of their success in achieving the mission they had been given as a team.
