Kyle frowned slightly and kind of cocked his head as the girl rambled on. She was talking quickly almost like nerves compelled her to fill the silence with noise, going on about nervous snaps and whatnot. Was this person even real? Was Kyle like a magnet for crazy or something like that? Whatever.

Kyle shifted slightly as if he was about to walk away butThen came the, apparently, real reason that she was coming over to talk to him. Marla. The second her name was mentioned he couldn’t help but steal a glance towards the girl and he felt his face get warmer but he just shook his head and rubbed a hand down his face before pushing some of his shaggy hair out of his face. He hadn’t expected to be faced with these kinds of questions. How much of a friend were they? And this girl seemed to think Marla cared about him? Was she nuts? Sure they worked well on the potions heist, and had a lot of fun during detention but why would that make Marla care about him?

Kyle opened his mouth to speak but before he could Marla was there, staring at him as if she was going to try to set him on fire with her mind. So not only did she think he was just a ‘Rabid animal’ she thought nobody could or should be around him huh? If that’s how she wanted to play, fine.

Some crazy redhead. She wasn't some crazy redhead. In fact, she was a redhead who had enough of Kyle Derook's bullshit. Getting her detention, punching her in the face... A surge of anger went through Marla's veins as the words replayed through her head over, and over, like a broken record player.

Crazy, crazy, crazy.

"I'm not crazy, you freaking maniac!" She yelled so loud that a few even turned their heads to investigate the commotion. And ironically, while she wasn't clinically insane, she had an insane idea. Marla all of a sudden became extremely aware of the broom in her left hand, and gripped it with both. "I tried to help you. I tried to cover you when Aurelia caught us in potions. We were friends!" Her voice staggered towards the end and she froze, looking down at the ground. To cover up the embarrassment of almost bawling in front of her entire house, she picked up the broom and whacked Kyle in the face with the wooden end.

Oh my god.

Immediately realizing what she had done, Marla dropped the broom and looked at her hands in disbelief, and back to Kyle. "Oh my god.." she murmured, stumbling back. Kyle was right. She was crazy. Deranged. She just hit him in the face! With her broom! "No..I–" Marla murmured in a panicked frenzy. What should she do? What could she do? In an attempt to stay calm, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath, opened them and looked back to Kyle. "Are– are you okay?"

56 second before the quickest ever conflict escalation (even the bathroom situation seemed like a kindergarten after that):

The more she talked, the more Kyle was frowning. And then she felt a living flame crawling closer and closer. She felt it. She prayed Marla wouldn't get hurt this time. And she felt burning sensation in the back of her neck, which resulted in a question, full of fury. And Kyle apparently couldn't help but mouth her off the best he could.

It was a funny thing to realise that young boys and girls hit each other with bludgers, set each other on fire during duels and apparently loved to hit each other with brooms. Okay, the last one was not likely to happen. And of course, Meenauh blamed the Hunt, which happened earlier and how expensive certain prizes were. But what was more expensive, almost priceless, was the look on Kyle's face when it was literally kissing the handle tip of the broom, masterfully operated by Marla in quite an exquisite manner.

OH
MY
GOD.

So, it was not Marla she should have been caring about, but Kyle. But instead of being frightened by the impulsiveness of the redhead and how badly the boy must have been hurt, and what his parents would say... instead of that Meenauh snickered and barely suppressed a loud laugh.

"We need a medic over here!" with quite a suppressed laugh in her voice she shouted instead, not quite understanding who she was supposed to summon.

Kyle has been punched, kicked, head butted, he had fallen from a window, took a cricket bat to back of the head and been mauled by werewolf. But there is something to be said for the sharp pain of a broom handle thwacking you hard in the face. But the thing is, he wasn’t really mad. She deserved to get a hit in, and if she was pushed to violence it meant she hated him which was good. If she hated him she would stay away from him and he couldn’t hurt her. His “brilliant” plan had worked.

Atleast he thought it did up until she started to apologies and he could tell from look on her face that she felt bad. And that is when Kyle got mad. Hate was fine, disgust or fear could be tolerated. But he wasn’t some kicked puppy to be felt bad for. She wanted to be sorry? She’d be sorry. Her and the other girl with her sarcastic call for a medic. With a scowl he turns from the two girls and grabs the punch bowl and he let out a loud grunt as he put his weight into lifting the punch bowl and tipping it to douse the two girls in the bright red liquid, and then he drops the bowl so it shatters against the stone floor ”screw you and this party. I’m out of here”

[quote]Everything was a blur.

Between hitting Kyle with the broom, Meenauh's somewhat cheerful call for a medic... And her eager apologies, it was a lot. Too much to process. What had she done? Even if Kyle had punched her in the face, whacking him with hard, heavy wood was uncalled for! Kyle honestly didn't seem to mad which was relieving too... Until she began to say sorry. A fury had filled his pale eyes to the brim as he went for the nearby table.
"Kyle! Wait I-"

And then it shattered.

Kyle had thrown the punch bowl on the floor, causing glass to scatter across every inch on the ballroom floor. Marla was now doused in a questionable color of punch and honestly resembled the Kool-Aid man. "I deserved that." She murmured, lightly wiping the glass off her sweatpants in fear that they'd cut her legs. Then she looked up to Meenauh, who was covered in punch as well. She gasped, walking over to the girl in a hasty manner. "This is all my fault Meenauh! And–and your pretty dress is ruined.." She murmured with guilt oozing through her words, looking at the once gorgeously colored tan piece of cloth that was now a mess of dark brown and an unnatural red. She never should have come over to them. If she hadn't, then Kyle wouldn't be hurt, the floor wouldn't be covered with glass, and Meenauh wouldn't have been a sticky mess.

"Screw you and this party. I’m out of here" Marla heard distantly, and looked up, spotting Kyle storming out of the ball. She should have learned last time that running after Kyle was an awful thing to do, but she couldn't help the overwhelming urge to go after him. Marla didn't feel as angry with him now that the two were even, and what she did was absolutely terrible. No wonder he was angry... She picked her broom up off the ground and started after the boy, grabbing his wrist as tight as she could (which was not that tight, for that matter).

"Kyle wait! Please. I'm really sorry. For everything." She said to him, quieting down at the 'I'm sorry' part in fear that her pride would be tarnished. Well, what pride was left of course. People probably thought she was a mad woman by now. Hurdling a broom at the poor boy, now covered in punch and looking like a Yo Gabba Gabba character on steroids. God. She never should have come to the ball. This is why you listen to gut feelings, kids. Because if you don't you get punch spilled all over you by a rampaging twelve-year-old with emotional issues. Marla then stepped in front of Kyle, giving him a desperate 'please don't leave I'm trying to reconcile with you and if you go I will be humiliated' look.

And then it shattered.

Being splashed over with any type of liquid wasn't particularly Meenauh's favourite state. But such occasional matter could be easily solved with magic. Meenauh just didn't practice the proper spell yet. For some reason, probably completely out of shock, Marla started to apologise to her, which sounded very surprising. Moreover, apologising for the dress, which could be easily fixed with a Scourgify. Meenauh thought of looking for a professor or an older student to help them both with their outfit. But she needed Marla to calm down a bit. The laugh wore off pretty much as soon as the liquid touched her dress, and as Kyle moved away, she spoke in much of a quieter tone:

"Marla, you don't need to... why are you apologising for a dress? It can easily be fixed with any cleaning spell."

But it seemed Marla wasn't with her anymore. She looked into the girl's eyes, which were at the same time apologetic, confused, frightened and very much lost. Almost nothing left from the fiery girl at the moment. And then she ran after him. Again.

If Meenauh wanted to clarify something about the relationship between those two, she definitely found out there was a lot involved and the main thing among that lot was obviously not hatred.

She stood there inside the circle of shattered glass with punch all over her dress. She pulled her wand out and proclaimed while pointing at the shattered glass:

"Reparo!"

The small pieces of glass around her started to move and in just around five seconds the bowl was whole again. Sadly without the punch. She watched Marla grabbing Kyle's wrist but didn't follow them, because that wasn't her business anymore. Unless Marla wanted to share her feelings with Meenauh someday. So instead she kept glancing around in search for someone able to cast a nice Scourgify at her dress.

Of course Aurelia was referring to the ballroom dance type of dancing. They were in a ball, only a handful were on the dance floor. However, before the second year Gryffindor could reply, not far away was a loud crash. The punch bowl a few tables away had been tipped over. The sight had caused a subtle pout to form on the girl’s lips. Thankfully, there was no fire, just punch. Craning her neck, the Gryffindor looked around for Professor Wright, the last she had seen her was during the scavenger hunt. Where was the Head of House when you needed her. This would mean that chances of having an enjoyable ball had suddenly become nonexistent.

Apologies, duty calls,” Aurelia had muttered before making her way to the area of chaos. A girl who’s dress had been splashed by the red liquid had took the initiative to repair the glass pieces back into a bowl with a wave of her wand. Aurelia walked past her to the pair she suspected had started the mess.

Kyle Derook and Marla Quinlan, two which Aurelia had given a detention to not too long ago. The red haired girl held onto the boy’s wrist. A lover’s spat. was the first thing to came to her mind either than the frustration she herself felt bubbling in her gut. She had spent the entire afternoon setting the area up just so an upset couple to strut in and break bowls of punch.

Both of you lovers! If you have any disputes to settle, do so outside! I’ve spent the entire afternoon preparing this ball for you ungrateful Gryffindors. And you two - ” the girl‘s voice was raising by the second. “- Think you can just strut in and ruin everyone’s time.” The furious girl huffed in disbelief, placing both her hands on her hips. She was getting upset, but she had the rights to. Firstly, her hard work preparing the scavenger hunt and the ball went unnoticed. Besides Scott, no one went up to her to thank her for her work. Secondly, she could barely enjoy a part of it herself before the punch bowls started shattering.

Kyle knee coming here was a waste of time. He knew the best idea would have been to just stay in the common room and play chess until the rest of his house started to trickle back in and then he could go try to grab some sweets before they all got tossed or fed to the house elves or whatever. But instead he let the angel on his should convince him socializing was good. And what did that get him? Pain and pity. This will be a lesson he remembers. Mid storm out he feels someone grab his wrist and he stops. It was Marla. Why? He’s punched her, insulted her, then doused her in punch. And yet she was still willing to follow him and still spouted apologies. "Kyle wait! Please. I'm really sorry. For everything."He closed his eyes and shook his head as he let out a slight sigh

”Listen Quin I-“ he was cut off by a familiar voice...the prefect that busted them, shouting out accusations of them being lovers and calling them ungrateful and he closed his eyes, looking away from Marla the hide the embarrassed look that must have been on his face

He speaks quieter this time ”If you really want to know what my deal is and get a few sleepless nights. I’m going outside. But if you’re smart, you’ll stay here and enjoy the ball. Either way, stop saying sorry” he pulls his hand free and slips both of them into his pockets before he stalks out. Before he leaves he raises his voice and shouts out ”Real parties have music you know!”

What was she doing? Kyle Derook has done so, so many things that would make any person run for the hills. She looked up at him with a pleading look as she apologized, and he sighed. He opened his mouth to speak and all of a sudden she felt a smile tugging at her lips. Was he finally going to explain what was going on without being a jerk? Would they become friends again? Well, that was a stretch, she probably shouldn't get her hopes up, but if he was talking to her, then it was plausible.

And then another voice spoke. Marla whirled around to see a familiar pair of blue eyes and blonde hair and rolled her eyes. The prefect.
"Both of you lovers! If you have any disputes to settle, do so outside! I’ve spent the entire afternoon preparing this ball for you ungrateful Gryffindors. And you two think you can just strut in and ruin everyone’s time." Okay, there were many, many things wrong with this statement. First, lovers?! Marla's face went red as she dropped Kyle's hand with a scrunched up face. There was no way that she'd date anyone ever. Why would she say that?! They were twelve! Cool it down lady! Second, they weren't ungrateful or ruining anyone's time. In fact, at least they were making the ball interesting. The whole thing was honestly a drag. Music sucked, most people sucked, ugh. It really did need a quarrel if anything. At least it wasn't fire, Marla furrowed her brows in anger, tempted to use her broom again.

"I don't care whether you're a prefect or not you bimbo, stay out of other people's business. Scurry along to whatever boyfriend you were trying to seduce and kidnap in your dorm. And lover?! Get your goddamn head straight. The only one in the room with cooties is you, miss prissy prefect." She snapped, her face now almost as red as her fiery hair. What did Aurelia have anything to do with this? She was just a power hungry bitch who thought that yelling people would give her a false sense of authority. OOC: Aurelia I am SO SORRY I do not mean any of this and I love you <3

Hearing Kyle speak again, she gave Aurelia one last infuriated look and turned back to him. He was... Leaving? Honestly, it made sense. Marla hadn't spoken to Kyle in months and even she could tell that this wasn't his scene. He mentioned being smart if she stayed and enjoyed the ball, but that just made the girl scoff. She felt bad about leaving Meenauh and Emile, but it was humid, gross, and boring in this stupid ballroom and she needed out. If anything, going with Kyle would be borderline genius. She followed him out the door, letting out a giggle when he yelled that real parties had music.

It felt good to speak to him without gushing blood or straight up yelling, but Marla couldn't help being a bit nervous. What if he snapped again and hurt her? While it was unrealistic, Marla's worried thoughts flood her brain to the brim. After what happened between them, it only made sense. But she was just mostly relieved that she would actually have a heart-to-heart with him. Or as heart-to-heart as Kyle could get. He didn't seem like the type to open up too easily. Nevertheless, the curiosity in her gut outweighed the sheer terror of genuinely interacting with him again, and she made her way out to the grounds with him.

Oh, oh great. A nice Gryffindor ball turned into an actual disaster. With Marla whacking some poor boy in the head with an old broom, and the boy throwing the bowl of punch onto Marla. Jesus, everyone was going to die, or explode from anger. And in this case, the latter was more likely.

Before anybody wrecked havoc, Millie had been fantasizing over the thought of dancing with her school crush. Now, she just really wanted to leave, and get away from everyone. Whether it be run away from the ball, or from the people in it. She just needed to run away. Far.

Pulling Lallie away from the oncoming traffic of smashing and whacking, Millie let her heart rate fly up. Her brown hair became frizzy, but not enough to really tell. Meenauh had called for a medic, and then got her pretty dress absolutely drenched. If only the girl could produce the cleaning spell. Millie let go of Lallie's hand, and ran over to Meenauh. Even if the two weren't the bestest of friends, she wasn't going to let Meenauh sit there, drenched.

"Meenauh, are you okay?"

The other girls name was pronounced like 'me' and 'now'. It happened to be the only way Millie could remember her friends name. Funny.
