September had almost come to an end. A month had passed so quickly, that Violet didn't even have enough time to register it. For the past month, she was busy coping with assignments and academic pressure, while also exploring the castle. Hogwarts now felt homely, although Violet still missed her parents.
Now being 29 days away from her parents, she had finally decided to write them a letter. It was a weekend today, but Violet had woken up earlier than her dormmates to get ready and write her parents a letter.
It took her quite a lot of time to write the letter, describing, sometimes going into detail, all the incidents that happened in the past month. She wrote about how fascinated she felt looking at the enchanted roof in the great hall, a few friends and an enemy she had made. She had also described her grades, getting an O for her astronomy homework but only getting an E in other subjects. She promised to do better for herself and her parents.
She was right now in the corridor, heading towards the owlery, confused and honestly, a little scared. She didn't want to go up there, all alone. She didn't own an owl herself and would have to use a school owl which she was afraid of. Her mother had insisted on buying her an owl, and her father had insisted on buying a cat but she really couldn't decide then. She made a note to herself that she would get herself an owl when she got back home.
As she was moving in the corridor, she saw a girl coming from the opposite side. "Ara!" She exclaimed in recognition and called out to the girl. Ara Villa, a pureblood Violet knew fairly well from all those 'pureblood get-togethers'. She was the closest to what Violet could call a friend. Violet never really tried to talk much in those get-togethers finding most people rude but Ara was one of those who had always been nice to her. A year older than her, she went to Hogwarts before her and they had never met ever since. She hadn't even seen her around in Hogwarts before. Guess, Violet was too busy in her little world but she hoped Ara could help her with her letter...Reducio385 words!

Febuary 25, 2024 (9:23)Ah yes, it was the last few days of September. A girl was minding her own business in the corridor doing some advanced readings. Although the library would be a much more suitable place to do these readings, it was rather crowded that day which wasn't ideal for someone like Ara who didn't like to be bothered.
Flipping a page in her textbook, she hummed a tune and looked up to check the time. It was still early to go to her dormitory and deal with her horrible roommates who got her in detention. She was already liking the atmosphere of the castle corridors. It wasn't that crowded and the people who were there didn't seem to want to bother her. Probably because her face wasn't welcoming anyone.
Her little bubble at a random bench popped when she heard her name being called from a distance. Her head turned in the direction of where she heard her name being called. She saw the short, tanned, ravenette girl whom she met at one of those gatherings her family was invited to, Violet Rohr.
Ara was nice to her back then, keeping her company at the gathering since she didn't know anyone. The girl resisted her usual rude, blunt, and uninterested demeanor when she met the younger girl. Now, Violet was a first year at Hogwarts. Being honest, Ara didn't expect to see her at Hogwarts after the gathering. "Hello," she replied to her, also waving since she wasn't sure Violet can hear her from the other side of the corridor.RP Word Count: 259/200

Ara had the most perfect timing. She appeared just when Violet needed help. Violet almost ran towards Ara, quite relieved to see her.
"Hello Ara!"
As soon as she said that, Violet really didn't know how to continue further. She had met the girl after an year or so, and thus it was just weird to ask Ara for help according to her.
She giggled nervously and said,"Oh, this is my first time seeing you at Hogwarts somehow. How have you been?"
She had always liked Ara. To her, Ara was like an elder sister but she couldn't help feeling nervous around her sometimes. Ara looked quite intimidating, even though she was nice to her. Anyhow, Violet had missed Ara when there was a gathering last February. She was bored to hell with all the adults around her. She had met some people her age too, but they just weren't as friendly as Ara towards her.
Violet looked at Ara, now carefully, noticing how she had changed her hair colour and how she had grown so much taller than the last time they met. Thats when she noticed the book in her hand.
Suddenly realising she said, "Oh no! Am I disturbing you? I'm so sorry. I didn't notice you were reading, before."Reducio210 words! No need to apologise, I myself wrote such a short reply. It's not always easy.

March 23, 2024 (16:43)"Hello to you as well Violet. It's been good, joined dueling, getting good grades, and other stuff" Ara replied to the first year. She closed the book but not entirely, with her finger still in the way of the book closing, acting as a bookmark.
She hadn't expected to meet Violet at Hogwarts even though it was most likely. The girl knew that Violet would most probably not be in Slytherin after meeting her last February. "How's Hogwarts so far? If I remember correctly during the Sorting Ceremony, you're a Hufflepuff?" Ara has a pretty good memory of the entire first night of Hogwarts in her 2nd year even though she was barely paying attention to anything. She's quite observant and aware of her surroundings even when she doesn't want to pay any attention. Second year was a bit more entertaining than Ara's first with duelling, dorm mate drama, and such.
Violet then apologized out of the blue for disturbing her which wasn't really the case. "No, no it's fine. It was only advanced readings anyway." she said to the younger girl. She wasn't as sure if Violet was that excited to see her, afterall, they haven't talked or even met in a while. Plus, she was a year younger too.RP Word Count: 211/200

Violet slightly smiled hearing Ara tell her that she had been good. Her eyes widened in awe as Ara mentioned about being a duellist. "You are a duellist!" , she exclaimed and continued,"That is so amazing! I want to be one too. I am keen on hearing more about duelling from you."
Hearing the older girl's next question, Violet slightly sighed. "My time around here has been good just as I had expected. What I did not expect was how much I had miss my home." Violet paused for a moment and then continued, "I was just sending a letter right now to my parents, but I am a little scared of going to the owlery all alone, to be honest." Taking another pause, she continued again to answer Ara's next question, "Wow! You have such a good memory. Yes, I was sorted into Hufflepuff. I have not really seen you around the castle in the past month. What house are you in? Perhaps Slytherin?" Violet tried to guess, but then again it was not too hard. Ara had always shown Slytherin characteristics, being from a business family and thus ambitious. 'But maybe I am wrong. Ara is a smart person, maybe she is in Ravenclaw?', Violet thought to herself while waiting for Ara to reply.
As Ara brushed off the apology Violet had said for supposedly disturbing her, she blushed a little bit. Quickly regaining her composure, she asked, "What kind of advanced readings were they?" Violet actually felt intrigued about what her older friend was reading.Reducio240 words!OOC NOTES:

June 16, 2024 (21:41)"Don't expect too much from me." Ara said. The girl had high expectations of herself, nothing was really enough for her. This was a bit of a toxic trait of hers, yes it gives her some sort of motivation but she was never enough. Yet at times she doesn't really care. 'She's still as enthusiastic as ever'
The second year listened to the younger girl's response. "I'm quite happy you managed to adjust." she continued, "I miss home too sometimes, but you'll come to see that Hogwarts will be your second home." Ara paused for a moment as she heared Violet's question. "You're right, I'm in Slytherin. You actually fit quite well in Hufflepuff." The black and white haired girl noticed even back then that Violet was caring and kind, the traits of a Hufflepuff. Though something in the back of her mind thought that Violet would be in Ravenclaw the first few minutes of their first meeting, Ara realized the younger girl's true personality.
"The owlery isn't that bad, it's just a bit secluded" she shrugged. "I don't really write to my parents since I'm quite used to it when they're gone. They're both busy people afterall."
Violet then asked a question about the advanced reading Ara was doing. "Just some origins of spells and stuff, not that hard." she replied. The young Slytherin really had to bring out a persona within her for her underclassman since with people in her year and above, she is quite quiet and in a sense, "unapproachable".

As Ara went on about how Hogwarts soon would feel like a second home to her, Violet could not believe it at all. Second home was an heavy adjective for a school. She probably would never feel that about Hogwarts, it after all was not as comfortable as her home was although the school mesmerized her in every way. Still the Hufflepuff mumbled with a sigh, "I sincerely hope so too."
Violet smiled hearing that her guess was right and indeed her older counterpart was in Slytherin. Her smile widened slightly as the Slytherin told her that she fits well in Hufflepuff. "Thankyou! I definitely take it as a compliment.", the Hufflepuff said and giggled.
The Slytherin was quick to inform that the Owlery was secluded. If Violet was to list her top five fears , secluded places and seclusion would end up on her first. Although she did not like interacting much, she was used to having some people around her and that was enough to not make her lonely. Violet frowned as Ara said that she did not write to her parents much. The young girl looked down towards the stone floor and fidgeted with her fingers. Was it too desperate to write a letter in the very first month of coming to Hogwarts? Was she disturbing her parents? Questions swirled around in her little head and despite being smart enough, she had no answer to them.
"W-well, do you think t-that I should not send a letter to them? My parents I mean.", Violet asked Ara.

October 10, 2024 (22:54)The thing about "being cool" is that you're not always "cool" to every person you meet. In Ara's view, it was fully subjective. The young Villa shrugged off the compliment (more like completely ignore it). She didn't really care about this "cool" thing anyway. Why be "cool" when you can be an academic weapon now and live an even more ravish life in the future? That's the question Ara always told herself. There's no denying that people have other opinions, but that's the realistic part of it.
For the second year, Hogwarts has become a place where she'd be freed from pureblood responsibilities. A place where she can practically do anything she wants without having to be polite and well-mannered. It honestly felt more like a home than her estate did. Growing up, she was tutored every day. This made a normal day at Hogwarts almost just like a normal day at home. The girl was just used to it.
After Ara told her own experience when writing to her parents, Violet asked if she should still write. The Slytherin waved her hands dismissively. "Don't let my experiences influence your choices. It's because of how I grew up, that's all," she said. "If you're close with your parents, you should probably write to them."
"I just grew up in a more... independent way, I suppose. Never had to hold my parents' hands every step of the way."
She felt something in her pocket. It was her pocket watch. Ara's hand reached the small space in her trousers, checking the time. '3:45 pm... 15 minutes left.' She better get going to not be late. "I have something to attend to; good luck in your first year, Violet," she waved goodbye before walking off. The girl walked through the student-filled corridors of Hogwarts before reaching her destination.
