She was a child in crisis one could say, just not the usual sort. At her age she should be worried about which boy (or girl) liked her. About if her friends were talking about her behind her back. If she was going to get a passing grade on that exam or assignment she had neglected. If the changes she was undergoing physically as she metamorphosed into an adult  were 'normal.' She was not concerned about any of these things -- she was not liked by anyone, she was a fine academic and she did not understand nor did she care about the hormonal changes she was undergoing as she left childhood. She did not feel much of anything, but she knew fear and it was a persistent state that had pervaded her senses since the crones. Cultivated through happenstance and circumstance this festering paranoia--

Marissa was angry, who could blame her. The Hufflepuff flung bits of food at her in a rage. Erin did not try to avoid the insult. She was too busy staring down her Head of House. This was what she wanted, wasn't it? To get their attention. To earn their ire. The bits of chips, globs of dip or confectionery treat simply bounces off of her or sailed past her.

"Very relevant indeed miss Ryan, please join me as I walk you back to your dorms."

Professor Browne announced. Erin would glance in the Hufflepuff Professor's direction in time to see him snap his fingers. With an audible snap she would feel a chill come over her. "What--?" She saw crystals of ice form over her bare feet, her pale flesh turned blue. She was going to complain that there no incantation as if there were actual rules. There were no rules. She would take a step, try to turn around to face the Professor. To look him in the eye. Her legs felt heavy, incredibly stiff. It hurt. She shivered from the cold as she helplessly watched it spread. A thin sheath that climbed her bare legs, forming rough crystals that encased her legs. She was not escaping, resistance was an act of futility.

She would not see him draw his wand as the ache reached her fingertips and started to travel up her hands. She would cross her hands over her chest and close her eyes, a burial pose. It was an act of instinct rather than an intimate knowledge. She was being frozen alive, her body would become brittle and it was the smallest bits that would break. A morbid consideration and the last one she would have as her teeth chattered and her body's temperature dropped.

"Time for your head to cool down a bit, lass"

Her breath slowed as did her heart, the bounding sense from the adrenaline and the fear subsided. A strange grace that death sometimes provides, after the flurry of panic there is this calm. This near still that simply diminishes until it ceases entirely. She was not dead, nor was she dying, but her body was shutting down from the cold. While she chose when the darkness took her to save her eyes, she was not going to keep them open as a veil of ice covered them, she did not choose the moment her awareness faded. The sense of hearing was the last to go, even after pain. His voice still sounded distant, as if it came from the end of a tunnel.

Then there was nothing.

The unconscious, frozen youth would float out.

INTERACTIONS: @Rosie Parker & @Reid Kovacs
Alexx watched as Taco Bell man dragged Erin off. It was a scary thought that the two were in the same year and same house. Alexx was suddenly thankful that she didn't share a dorm with Erin. That was a whole mess that Alexx didn't want to be faced with every day of the school year. Sighing, Alexx stepped back for a moment, watching as the chaos took place. Marissa seemed mortified. Alexx hoped that the party could still be saved.

At last, the moment she was waiting for. Reid Kovacs looked like a complete mess at the moment. Bloody and dancing and all. She certainly felt bad for him. This didn't seem like his scene anyway, and to make matters worse, things hadn't turned in his favor. Making her way to the dancing boy, she wondered why no one had cast the counter spell on him to make him stop? She was sure that spell-casting students weren't the most favorite thing around here, but she was also confident in her ability to help her friend out.

"Finite Incantatem!" She announced, moving her wrist in the shape of a shield towards the boy. She definitely felt bad for him. He appeared upset enough. The last thing he needed was to remain here, dancing like an idiot. If the spell were to be successful, then he could go about his day.

Looking in the direction of Rosie, Alexx still looked very confused. "How did this even happen?" She asked Rosie, who had likely seen the whole thing. She didn't just mean 'how did Reid end up looking like such a mess', but more so meant, 'what happened to even cause this'. Of course, Alexx was quite worried for the Kovacs boy.

Her eyes drifted back to her other badger friend, raising in his direction. "You going to be alright there, Kovacs?" She called out. She didn't want to laugh at him and potentially humiliate the poor boy- she at least had respect left in her. "You appear to be bleeding. Do you need to go to the Hospital Wing?"

Alexx didn't like blood. She was sure that it wasn't anyone's most favorite sight, but she specifically didn't like blood. There was no specific reasoning for it. It wasn't complete with a traumatizing event or anything like that. It just made her uncomfortable. She would go to squirming or gagging if she looked at it for too long, and in extreme cases, she would faint. It would be in her best interest to stop looking at the boy if this were to escalate.

Snapping back to Rosie, her attention was with her once again. "Is he always getting himself into trouble like this?" She lightly joked, smiling. She could sense that the two at least knew each other to some extent. "Definitely brave, but also a bit foolish. Admirable." That commentary wasn't aimed to be heard by anyone. In fact, she said so under her breath, almost as if she were noting it.

Okay so first, Quinn was just gonna let the popcorn show that was the last 5 minutes sort itself out. He was not touching that with a 10 foot pole any time soon. Besides seems the professors got it handled alright. Now Quinn had two choices now does he "A" get Oliver and try to sort out a situation about a person he had no idea about. "B" go cheer up Marissa and solve that issue or..."C" do nothing? Well he already made up his mind because he knew the professors had it covered. So properly adjusting his voice again since it seemed people had trouble understanding him. "Hey Alexx seems you got this covered. I have to deal with something over here!" He yelled over as he grabbed his dirtied coat and waltzed over, not literally of course he wasn't that extra...yet.

He waltzed over none the less to Marissa, "Hey hey hey Marissa you um okayish? I mean you're obviously not okay, but hopefully you are okayish?" That last bit was another question, because he was unsure. The red head slicked back his curly hair fringe messing it up even worse then before. 'That did not work out like I planned it...fuck' He sighed to himself a bit aggravated at his failed attempt to look cool.

Anyways where was he? Right talking to Marissa the one whose party was basically just crashed. "Hey Marissa don't know if you really are going to listen and it has been awhile since I've had to talk proper like this. So I might sound a bit awkward because well...I am awkward in general and this is more annoying to do then I remember. Change my voice I mean! Not you of course not you!"

He frantically corrected himself, his eyes going wide in the process and face going flush pink. "R-Right. Anyway don't fret it about this party, it may not have turned out like you wanted but you know what can fix that? A good ole fashioned dance. If you can play an instrument and my instrument is still here. We could jam and liven things up. Or even more fun why don't we and my friends who I am not sorry for because they are not my responsibility for Butterbeer?" He looked down at her now about a foot away.

He held his coat in one arm and hand was in his other pocket. He looked way older for his age because of his looks and sheer towering height. Was he really just 12 years of age? Still, he had a very warm smile and genuine warmth to his slightly rough look. He had paused a good bit before he turned his attention back to the others, he figured Oliver could manage on his own. "Oi Alexx, Rosie, Reid, er Ravenclaw girl! Who knows how to play an instrument, and has access to one right now!" He yelled back over, and not waiting for an answer he turned his attention back to Marissa.

"Now do you think the professors would let me bring a barrel of Butterbeer up here." He started to whisper now, getting a bit closer and kneeling down on one knee. "Most professors probably don't know this but I used to help run the sports bar in Hengist dormitory. During Quidditch victories Butterbeer would poor from the barrels, and I just so happen know where to get a small one from that I uh...acquired. I mean it's technically ours we just got to detach it and stuff and bring it here." He said still whispering. "And no I didn't steal it, just...thought about it." He corrected somewhat joking but not really as he laughed.

"It would liven things up plus having an impromptu band playing might get more attention...the end of our second year should still go out with a bit more of a flare." He added further. He was basically bombarding her with words but didn't want to give her time to stay upset. So he tried his usual routine as his voice only had a very slight Irish accent to it now. His words were so much clearer then before.

"Oh, I know," Hjørdis replied calmly to Erin. She knew the Slytherin far too well. Whilst she made a conscious effort to know all of the students of her house personally, Erin was a name that was likely known by everyone. The second year had certainly made quite the name for herself. If it was not such a negative one, Hjørdis might have been mildly impressed. She did always want her students to become well known witches and wizards. Just... not the way that young Ryan was going.

She was quiet as she stood and watched the students. But Caradoc broke the silence. His voice clearly giving away his emotions. He was done, just like she was. Their patience and tolerance had run out for the matter. She was ready to immobilise the second year and start her detention right now. But she did not want to. There was something else she needed to do before she dealt with Ryan. Something that was far more important. Luckily for her, Caradoc used the opportunity to make his escape. He had wanted to leave for a while, this gave him the perfect excuse to do so.

Hjørdis never took her eyes off Ryan until the ice fully froze her and Caradoc forced her to make her exit from the situation. She gave a single glance behind the pair, likely watching them exit the room. Her gaze caught his and she gave a single nod in return in acknowledgement. Whilst she normally would have hated it - and a part of her still did - it did give the chance to do the one thing she wanted to do.

She turned, facing Reid first. Alexx had already cast the charm to counter the spell. If it did not work, Hjørdis would quietly wave her hand behind the prefect and cast the spell on the badger herself. Either way, Alexx would be able to take credit for it. His legs were finally free from the dancing. The Head of Slytherin gave a single glance to Dymphna before turning back to Reid. He could benefit from her medical expertise it seemed.

If he had fallen over from the final shove that Ryan had made, she would offer him her hand and help him back up onto his feet. If he refused the help but stayed on the ground, she would crouch down near him to examine his injuries. If he was standing up, she would carefully place two fingers under his chin to lift his head and examine the wound on his face. "Kovacs, how are you feeling? She asked him, going straight for the blood first and ignoring all of the talking children around the room. There were far too many emotional children for her liking. Hjørdis struggled to deal with one emotional child on their own. This was definitely beyond her capabilities.

Hjørdis merely quirked her eyebrow and glanced over around the room. On one side, there was the Hufflepuff who had screamed angrily a little while earlier and thrown some food. It was mere moments ago but she was now crying. She had no doubt that Caradoc would expect her to somehow fix the party. However, children that did nothing but cry were not something she was specialised in dealing with. Nonetheless, she supposed she could try and fix the matter once she could ensure the other students were safe. On the other side, the crybaby who was crawling on the floor and licking food off his arm. The mere sight of it was rather revolting for her but if he stayed, she would have to go over and help clean him up.

Unfortunately, she was merely one woman and there were far too many children that required her attention more than Miss Ryan did right now. Luckily, Healy was already on the case of trying to lighten the mood a little it seemed as he yelled something about an instrument and Alexx seemed hellbent on trying to fix the situation. "Anyone care to explain what happened exactly?" She asked, wondering what set of the entire thing. She mostly turned to look at Dymphna at this point, who was the only one left of the trio that she saw.

mentioning Oliver and Alexx

Her fellow Ravenclaw [Oliver] was once again humiliating himself with a spell gone wrong but that wasn’t her concern once Dymphna saw who her own had struck. Apparently her own spell went wrong too, hitting Reid! Of all the bloody people it could’ve been. And Erin thought it was because of her, as if she were trying to help her. She paled at her thanks, hoping that he wouldn’t actually think she did it on purpose.

What if he didn’t believe that she was only trying to help? She should have waited until she had a clearer shot, a guarantee that he wouldn’t be in harm's way. A nervous ball formed in her stomach and she found herself frozen in place, as if she were the one that Professor Browne had cast it on but it was… fear? Of what? Reid was one of her first friends at Hogwarts, one of the only ones to have continuously met with her throughout their nearly two years.

What if he didn’t want to be friends anymore?

There was a sudden movement all at once — Professor Browne escorting Erin out, Hjørdis talking but she couldn’t make out the words. Something was going on with the others as well but it was a blur. All the while, Dymphna stood in the middle of the ballroom, wand still clenched in her fist, all the color drained from her face until she was spoken to directly.

Then it was a mess of blotchy red from embarrassment when she saw that her cousin was asking her to explain. How was she supposed to explain such a mess? Her voice wavered but she cleared her throat and started again, trying to hide how she was feeling even though it was as clear as day. “I was aiming for Erin.”

No, that wouldn’t do. Hjørdis was probably looking for a better explanation but it was all that she could think about. Dymphna chanced it and glanced over to Reid, seeing his angered bloody face and Alexx who seemed to be talking with him. “I don’t know what to say,” she replied, teary eyed and staring at the floor rather than look her in the eye. Honesty is the best policy after all.

INTERACTING WITH: Everyone still at the party.
Everything had built up from the point he was jinxed to dance. The food, shove, and yelling had left the young wizard on the verge of his next explosion. Erin shoved him and considering that he was dancing, he had little to no balance, quickly toppled over by a mere shove.

He wanted to do nothing more than fight the girl, he didn't care if it was unsightly as a young wizard, he didn't grow up being a literal pushover. But he was cut short by Marissa's outburst, which flecks of food landed on him and further ruined his clothes, not that it mattered to him now.

Confusion added to his frustration and he was sure he would end up screaming at Marissa too, rather annoyed that all she did to help the situation was make his situation worse. All he wanted to do at the time was stop the Ravenclaw boy from being socked in the face by Erin. But apparently, there was something else in store for him, which was this whole ordeal that turned out more than it should have been.

Stand still, someone gets hurt, act on his morals, and he made things worse but in hindsight, maybe things were better that he got the blunt end of the stick instead of the stranger he tried to help. It still didn't help his bruised pride and didn't make things easier, he didn't cry though and maybe he should at least be proud of that.

But whatever Alexx had cast on him worked, it appeared to at least, his legs stopped moving altogether even as he was on the floor. "You appear to be bleeding. Do you need to go to the Hospital Wing?" Supporting himself on an elbow, he shook his head and waved his hand, a clear indication of that he didn't want to go to the Hospital Wing.

Reid sharply inhaled with a quick answer, "M' fine, I'm fine." As the hand was extended by Professor Jensen, he took it and stood up, letting her examine his features. His eyes darted away from hers, a little repelled by the disappointment that she might have in her eyes. His evening failure with Jensen that one time still haunted him. "Kovacs, how are you feeling?" His jaw had been clenched tight like a steel trap that it hurt as he spoke to the Slytherin Head of House.

"I can walk it off, professor. " He could and he planned to, he was stubborn and rather keen on walking out of here without an escort. It wasn't the worst thing he's experienced, just having it done in front of people was worse. But that had to wait since he had to at least explain what he saw. “I was aiming for Erin.”

Reid glanced at Dymphna, his expression still just as unhappy as it was before. But it wasn't at her, he realized now that she had been the one who jinxed him on accident. He was just sore about how all of this turned out, part of him felt guilty for ruining the party, but he couldn't just let the Slytherin do what she did.

His voice rang out after hers, cracking a little out of distress, there was some clear strain in his voice as he tried to remain calm. "I heard that student yell out, looked over and saw Erin having her hands on 'im." His hand came up to gesture to where he saw them. He pressed his black sleeve to his nose, clenching his jaw at the sharp pain that he experienced upon pressing it. But he wanted to stop the bleeding.

"So I came over to stop 'er, she looked like she was about to knock him out and I grabbed 'er hand right here. Besides, couldn't just let her hurt another student." He gestured to his wrist as he explained, pulling his sleeve away, which was a little darker because of the blood. But it would clot soon enough. "Then everythin' else happened."

He was waiting for a verbal dismissal so he could go grab his ball and kick it away on the field near the pitch. But then again, maybe he'd get detention, at least he tried to do something and it softened the blow of the inevitable punishment he might receive.

Lateness was not Bloom's style when it came to parties, but this one, she seemed to not mind being as late as she was. In her black, spaghetti strapped satin dress that hugged her body and reached down to the floor, she walked into the ballroom. Her hair was up in a bun with whispy bangs as per her usual look and she wore black tennis shoes that matched her unique, and yet different personality.

The room was beautiful: tables filled with red, blue, green and yellow and corresponding flowers in the middle. It was a lot better than what they celebrated with last year when they graduated from first year. She could not believe it... Second year had come and gone. It was a blink of an eye.

Walking one step at a time, Bloom took in who was around. There was Alexx, Reid, Dymphna and a few others who looked familiar but she had not really known. There were also a small handful of professors that seemed to be chaperoning the event. If it was last year, Bloom would have run to those who she recognized. But in this case, she wanted to keep to herself. If they found her, then fine.

Bloom made her way to the food and drinks. She wasn't hungry, nor was she thirsty. It just seemed like a place that was comfortable to be around. And, at least, there were some others that were standing around, so she wasn't alone. If she were sitting at an empty table, then that could cast a lot of judgment among her peers.

Watching her friends and peers dance was nice. She had an urge to go and dance, but she couldn't help herself to go. Her creative and outgoing spark had changed. Was this her growing up? Was this hormones? Who knew. She felt different.

Enjoying her moment to herself, she couldn't help but to see the Slytherin second year, Erin Ryan, close to Reid Kovacs. Were they now friends? So much has changed. It wasn't until Ryan had punched Kovacs hard in the face. Bloom winced at the sight. Her natural instinct would be to come up to him right away, but she gave him some space as there were a bunch of others that went into his air space. One of them being Alexx and the other was the Slytherin Head of House, Professor Henson.

Bloom noticed from afar that there was some blood coming from where he was punched. Moving her gaze to the table, she grabbed a clean, dry and thick napkin and dipped it into cool water. She grabbed another dry napkin and placed the wet one on top. She then saw at the end of the table, there were a pair of gloves. She was unsure if they were used or not. She picked it up, put ice in it from the ice bucket and tied the end.

Walking up slowly to Reid, her heart pounded. She hadn't talked to him for nearly a year. And prior to that, she had embarrassing moments with him that always ended up terribly. When she finally came up to him, her lips painted a small smile. "Breaking another girl's heart, Kovacs?" she joked, offering him the wet and dry napkin to wipe off the blood and ice to make sure it doesn't bump.

Responding to @Emma Hill, open to interaction
He'd been leaning against the wall for a fairly long while, just people watching as they entered the ballroom. Seeing people, especially the professors, out of their normal everyday school wear was interesting to him. How people dressed when they could choose what to wear was fascinating. He wondered why people made the choices they did. Many of them looked quite uncomfortable either by being overdressed or wearing very uncomfortable shoes.

Before he knew it, the hall was quite full of people. Some he didn't recognize at all at first due to what they were wearing. Suddenly, a familiar voice said to him,
"Hey Hengist. Wow, you look great. What are you doing back here, away from everyone? C'mon, it's one day that no one will remember in a few days. Well, except for me, maybe."
After looking at the girl for a few seconds, he realized it was Emma in front of him. Once again, the massive contrast in clothes made it difficult for him to identify her right away. She was dressed quite extravagantly in a gold dress. Normally, at least in his eyes, she looks extremely opposite due to how physical Quidditch can be.

He quickly realized that he was staring and didn't want to make her think the wrong thing. So he replied, "Oh, it's you, Emma. Sorry, I didn't recognize you. I'm so used to seeing you at Quidditch practice looking very...different. Speaking of, it looks like the shoes you're wearing are uncomfortable. A lot of people seem to be doing that today, I'm not sure I get it." He then realized he never thanked her for the compliment. "Thanks for the comment, by the way. You look quite good, yourself. To be honest, I'm not sure why I came. You know that I'm not great at being social. I guess I was just curious and seeing everyone in such different clothes than normal is really...interesting, I guess."

Logically, the blonde knew that Bloom wasn’t meaning to make her feel this way. They were friends after all. Maybe they didn’t talk as much as they used to but she still considered her as such. It was just too much when Bloom came over and did what she couldn’t do — help.

At this rate, Dymphna figured she would never be a Healer like her mother, a goal she wanted to achieve since before she got her Hogwarts letter. Her marks in Potions and Herbology were awful too. She couldn’t even help a friend for Merlin’s sake. It was time to leave.

There was nothing to add after Reid’s words. If her cousin wanted her side of the story, she could find her later. Dymphna didn’t force a smile Blooms way as she left. Instead, she didn’t look at anyone at all. Reid’s angered expression was directed at her too often tonight for her to risk another glance his way. Her cheeks blotchy red and eyes puffy from holding back tears, she made her way to the library to be alone.

{ Interacting with Reid Kovacs & Dymphna Teague. Mentions Bloom, Quinn, Marissa }
The Professor stared at the injured boy in front of her. He was stubborn, if nothing else. He claimed that he could walk off the pain of his bleeding face. Hjørdis raised an eyebrow as she watched droplets of blood fall from his face. "You're literally bleeding on my clothing, Kovacs." She stated as her beautiful white dress was no longer in the pristine condition that her clothing always was in. Her voice was a little cold, perhaps because she was annoyed that he was ruining her clothing - though magic could easily fix this. But more than that, she was irritated by his stubbornness. It was unnecessary.

She observed him for a moment before lowering her hand. This nose looked broken. Something she could easily fix with a wave of her hand but she did not. He looked around awkwardly. Perhaps scared of her. Perhaps worried what others would think. He very much looked like he did not want to be there and forcing him to accept healing would only make matters worse. A minor injury like this could be healed the muggle way. It would cause unnecessary pain but he seemed to have accepted that. Hjørdis stared at him for a moment. She really wanted to just heal it. But instead she spoke, "You know... You don't have to deal with everything yourself, right?" She asked him quietly, her voice lowering a little to avoid being overheard by everyone.

From their brief encounters, she had the feeling that the boy took on too much. He seemed to think that he had to deal with his weaknesses, his flaws and his injuries on his own. There was a reason he was going out of his way to try and practice a charm he did not know. She did not take him to be a bookworm but rather a boy who had been through something and felt like he had to deal with everything on his own, as though it made him tougher and accepting help was only a sign of weakness. Hjørdis waved her hand, still looking at Reid, casting 'accio' on the ice and a cloth napkin. She took the handful of ice, placing it into the cloth before pushing it into his hand. Even if he did not accept her help magically, ice would help with the swelling that he was going to experience.

A voice caught her attention. The familiar accent. Hjørdis simply blinked as her younger cousin spoke. Dymphna claimed to be aiming for Erin. That much was incredibly obvious. The Head of Slytherin had absolutely no doubt about that. There was no reason for Dymphna to actually use magic to attack anyone, other than the girl who was hitting people. She waited for a better explanation as to what had actually happened. One that didn't state the obvious. One that actually told her what the three of them were discussing before the other boy squealed and everyone else got involved. The second year did not provide an answer, however. She had nothing to say. Hjørdis stared at her for a few moments, her heart breaking a little at the sight of her cousin's expression. She nodded, knowing she would not get much out of her right now.

Kovacs continued to explain his side of the story. She already knew all of what he was going to say. It was, sadly, before the student yelled out that she wanted to know. Her eyes followed his actions nonetheless, quirking slightly at the sight of his sleeve. Hjørdis almost sighed. There was no point. Not today, anyway, not right now. Gently placing her hand on his shoulder, "Whilst charging in did you no favours..." She started, questioning why he was acting like a reckless Gryffindor, "You did okay, kid." She said softly, leaning forward and almost whispering it so that only he could hear the compliment. Well, by her own standards, that was a compliment.

She composed herself again as another student appeared, joking about Reid breaking another girl's heart. Hjørdis said nothing but turned to see Dymphna. She frowned a little at the sight of her broken expression. She watched her run off, very tempted to rush after her.  Sadly, she had something else to do. Dymphna would have to wait a few minutes. "I'll leave you be." She announced, towards Reid and any of his fan club that were still around him, "Kovacs, keep your weekend free. You'll be receiving an owl shortly from me. Physical violence is still against school rules last time I checked." She stated. Whilst she understood why Reid had gotten physical and why Dymphna had thrown that spell. Both of them would still be forced to spend time with her for breaking rules. Oliver would have been included in that, had he not suffered enough humiliation by hurting himself. That humiliation was probably far worse than a detention.

With that, she walked off. Hjørdis made a glance to Marissa. She would have taken a plate of the chocolate chip cookies and attempted to comfort her but Healy seemed to be doing a good job. A far better job than she ever could. Plus, she could have sworn she heard something about Butterbeer. Personally, she had no qualms with a bit of butterbeer. Heck, that was one of the first things she did when she got the job - organise a butterbeer tasting for the children. However, her job would prevent her from allowing butterbeer without prior permission and plenty of control. The butterbeer tasting, for example, limited the amount people could drink quite significantly. For now, she decided that if she just left then they would be free to have a little bit of fun without any professors around. If they did not ask her, she could claim she did not know. She had somewhere to go, anyway. The library was not too far from here. She could always pop back to the ballroom after her library trip to make sure everything was still running smoothly.

She gave a final glance around the room, waving her hand a little to help clean up some of the mess that had been made with the food and drops of blood. If nothing else, Marissa deserved a slightly cleaner party. Hjørdis then turned on her toes and made her way out just as quickly as she had entered.
