Duelling Beta Test Match 2 - Scott vs. Elena

The professor could not help but pinch the bridge of his nose in light of Mr. Alexander's luck.
Miss Jones had both expertly dodged her opponent's attack and retaliated with a disarming spell. The Gryffindor was now wandless, and he was looking rough. Caradoc felt worried for the two students. His smile now vanished as they both seemed worse for wear. By now he was mainly hoping for a quick knock-out. So they both could be sent to the infirmary.

Somebody once wrote that life is a tale told by an idiot. Scott couldn't help but disbelieve this, as he was more than certain that whoever was telling at least this particular tale, was somebody both very, very clever; and very, very mean. At least it was somebody who didn't like him very much- and some (Scott) would say that that was even more idiotic than idiocy itself.

What had he ever done to deserve this?

Crime and Punishment: An ongoing investigation.

As can clearly be seen above, he has done nothing to deserve this.

Not bothering to follow his wand with his eyes (he could hear it, that was enough, clink agains the floor some several metres behind him), Scott let out an inaudible sigh and shook his arm slightly to correct his ragged sleeve. It was practically all burnt off, which in a very strange way pleased him- it meant that his mother would have to buy him new ones, something he hadn't dared to ask for himself, no matter how too short they got... He wondered how she'd react if he asked her to get fireproof robes.

This, against all odds, made him smile a little. And he generously offered this smile, along with a self-ironic chuckle, to his opponent as he said this:

"So we're pretty even, I would say. Care to settle this over a game of rock, paper, scissors?"

Elena looked as the wand clattered away, knowing it was far enough away that she was certain to win, but then he just... stood there, and cracked a joke. Damn it she was starting to like that kid, she frowned and just sort of looked at her wand and pointed it at Scott, "Spongify."

"Well, that's my turn done." Elena gave him a nervous smile, "I only wish we could do scissor paper rock, maybe we can just go? We can go right? Just... I don't know, call it a tie or something, or I can throw a piece of paper and call it a flipendo."

Caradoc noticed it too late. Elena was already mid-spell as he saw the Gryffindor boy neglect his stance. It would seem Mr. Alexander refused to fight any longer. As he stood there with his chin still held high, he was struck in the chest. With a well-pronounced softeneing charm, Elena had knocked her opponent further down. The professor grimaced before stepping closer to the stage.

Silence would fill the room as Scott got himself back on his feet. He looked beaten and burned. And with him now having refused to defend himself, Caradoc raised a hand. All eyes back on him, he climbed the stage. "This duel is over. The winner is Miss Jones." He reached out his hand to present Elena on one side. After giving her some time to enjoy her well-deserved victory, he turned towards the boy on the other side. "Mr. Alexander, lets get you to the infirmary right away. Can you walk?"

He would help the Gryffindor down the stage and escort him to find some extra medical aid. Being a healer himself however, professor Browne seemed to already be on top of handling Scott's burnmarks.

He was off the stage! The arena of death. The podium of pain. Scott wasn’t going to lie, it had been one peculiar afternoon. He was in pain, his legs weren’t working properly... And to think this day had started out with his eating a cluster of nice grapes none of which were shrunken or sour? He’d thought that was the sign of a good day. He had been wrong:

Perfection is never the premise, it is the warning.

"Thank you, thank- ow!- you..." Scott managed, and sighed in relief as Professor Browne helped him to a place to sit as he started tending to the damage caused to him.

Now: sitting down was by far the best thing man (or woman!) had ever invented. Scott was positive of this, as all of his cells currently felt as thought hey were balancing on top of very small rubber balls.

"Thank you..."

He was feeling justifiably dizzy. But still, Scott tried holding his unsteady head up enough to search the room for his opponent, with a weak but ready smile. Then of course, his eyes suddenly felt too heavy to keep open, and he has to settle with chuckling "You're insane." in some general direction, hoping she'd catch his lighthearted tone through his grimace and painfully clenched jaw.

"Which is good, of course! Congratu- ow!"

ACTION: Honestly? Just lovin' life. Pain is meaningless and the future is bright.
