Dear Mother,

I’m less than sure of what to write and how to write it... but first of all I suppose I’m again happy you’re letting me travel to America during the summer (for as I keep assuring you, I will be just fine over there) and for sending the new robes I asked you for. I’m afraid you and I will still have to buy new ones before the beginning of next term, but I still thank you!

Now, what I really wanted to know was if you could please tell me what has been happening with Ben. I know you all say it shouldn’t concern me and that I shouldn’t worry but it really does and I really do. He won’t talk to me in school, hasn’t for the entire year. He leaves the common room when I come in... and I keep seeing him getting into trouble with different teachers and students! He’s been so angry ever since the Easter Holidays and dad won’t tell me what happened. Do you know?

I really hope you can come up with some way of telling me.
