Just because there was no library that Jack knew of at summer camp didn't mean he would be deterred from making a book fort. In fact, the mischievous fox animagus decided that made the challenge of creating a book fort all the more fun due to his limited resources. Unlike in the school library where he would just pluck the history books he knew off their shelves several rows at a time, confident he had memorized their placement well enough to put them back properly in order, this would be different. After all, there were only so many people in summer camp who were likely to have brought books with them. And for every person he 'borrowed' a book or books from, he would have to remember who they were and where he found their books in order to return them when he was finished.

It turned out to be surprisingly easier than he thought. Most other kids were busy with summer activities that had been set up for them, practicing sports to go against rival magic schools, or simply chatting and joking around with friends. They were all too occupied to notice what they weren't expecting to see - a red fox running around with books carried in his mouth to take to a small area toward the edge of the camp where the snow had thinned out to show the bare ground. He hadn't wanted to risk the books getting wet, after all, so he'd spread out a blanket and cleared away more of the snow before starting on building his fort.

Switching between building the fort as a human and going out to 'treasure hunt' for more building materials as a fox, it took Jack most of the day to make even a small structure, but he didn't mind. It only needed to be large enough to house his small, vulpine body. But toward the end of the day on one of his trips out searching for more tomes, he came across someone else who seemed to be trying to hide herself away at the edge of camp.

She had long, dark brown hair with big, dark brown eyes to match and was leaning over a notebook as she read from a book. The red fox slowly padded up to her, looking as innocent as a fox could possibly manage.

Curious, he peered at her reading material as he approached, finding with interest that it was a book of spells. She must have been particularly dedicated to studying to have been doing so on summer break. Especially since she didn't appear to be a first or second year whose enthusiasm for learning magic tended to motivate their studies beyond a conventional Hogwarts student's motivation.

The fox tilted his head at the book before his gaze refocused on the brunette. He came closer...closer...close enough for her to reach out and touch. And then, after about a minute of standing there staring at her book of spells...

...he snatched the notebook from her instead and dashed off across the stadium with it in his mouth as he proceeded to emit sounds that sounded eerily like a fox's laughter.

When you think about Summer Camp, it’s all about the activities that the event planners have in store for you, the things you can do with your friends, perhaps the food and drinks they have to offer. When you think about Summer Camp, it’s all about fun. Well, for most people. Raizel, however, is not one of those. Sure, there are times that she does take a break, enjoy some of the activities they have here, maybe talk to a couple of friends or acquaintances. Most of the time though, she is sneaking away from her tent, going to places far from where other people are mostly converging, finding that quiet spot where she could just look at some of her book of spells that she took from her father’s study and find one that she could learn.

She hasn’t stopped her quest for spells. More spells means more ways to defend and attack and a good way to keep herself from going rusty when it comes to spellcasting. She’s already bad enough, she can’t let herself fall further behind. That’s why she’s here and if she starts practicing, no one else would get caught up if it happens to fail. Not to mention, this is a good spot to hide from people that she knows, not like she has that many anyway aside from a few close friends. They were disappearing slowly, those people that she knew and soon, they became strangers that she could barely remember. Their voices, their face, the friendship they once had, all of those become nothing.

Raizel shook her head as her thoughts began to wander somewhere else. She’s not here to think about those lost connections, she knows that they are already gone and there’s more to come in the future. She’s here for spells. She let herself focus on the book she has with disinterest as nothing seems to be close to her skill level yet. She was too into her book however that she failed to notice this creature, this fox, coming close. It was already too late when she did as her precious old leather bound notebook was snatched away from her and all she could see was the bushy tail of the creature running away, laughing as if it was mocking her.

Old habits never die, quickly resorting to drawing her wand as her first action. She had been told before that she mustn’t resort to spells quickly but after seeing the same person who told her that doing the opposite, then why can’t she do the same? Despite her short time in duelling, she had gained some experience, enough to at least cast a spell without any trouble. Quick, precise, take them by surprise. “Arresto Momentum!”

Aw, shit.

Those were Jack's first thoughts upon finding himself caught by the spell that had been shot at him. He ceased to be able to move, every muscle and limb locked in place. How had he not considered magic when he'd thought he could have gotten away with stealing the very book she had been reading right from under her nose? And the fact that she had been reading a book on spells should have been a huge hint as to her magical abilities, as was the fact she had been studying up on magic when she hadn't needed to. He cursed himself mentally several times over for having been so foolish.

It was all the animagus could do to stand there, frozen, as he waited for his victim to take her vengence upon him. He supposed he deserved it for having gotten so cocky in the first place. Still...at least no one else was likely to have borne witness to his humiliation. He could think of at least a few of his peers who would have laughed themselves silly over his predicament, particularly when he had been the one foolish enough to get himself into it in the first place. Not to mention how much younger the student who had attacked him was. He really should have known better.

That was certainly a lucky shot. She knows by now how horrible her aim is, even back on the duelling piste she kept missing her targets or worse, she ends up almost hitting her teammates. Luckily, they were quick on their feet. It’s a miracle that her spell even managed to hit this poor animal. It was fast and sure enough, has amazing reflexes and yet there it is, motion slowed, making it easy for her to catch up. She wouldn’t know what to do if this fox got away with that notebook of hers. How’d it even get here?

Once she was close, she studied its figure. Of course she’s gonna release it from the hold of the spell. She’s not that cruel but first, her notebook. “I’ll be taking that back.” she uttered as she tried to take that notebook of hers. It can take anything else, just not her precious notebook. It may be old but it’s something that she treasures. “Maybe try stealing someone else’s stuff.” Surely there are other things that are more interesting than an old notebook. What would this fox even do with a bunch of paper with scribbles? Food would be more beneficial to steal and they are in a camp, it’s full of those.

“Now go back to… wherever you came from.” she sighed as soon as she got her notebook back, pointing her wand to the fox. “Finite Incantatem.” She quickly undo the spell that took hold of the poor animal, taking steps back and holding on to her notebook a lot tighter as she doesn’t want the fox stealing it again if it’s gonna attempt to do so again.
