"You sure don't know when to quit, huh?" Scout was not trying to be mean to Ava but... like, jeez, read the room maybe? While she had never been one to pick up on easily seeable context clues, it wasn't like it was hard to see Emily's red face and hear her high-pitched voice. Maybe she was just less interested in relentlessly pursuing her friend to talk about things she didn't want to.

Scout herself was also interested in keeping the conversation away from half-breeds and magical monsters. In the worst cases of scenarios, Ava would pick up on Scout's hesitation and her secret might spill. Even in the best scenario, the Slytherin would think she's a total weirdo for her reaction. Ugh, if only Scout had a better poker face in these situations! Zyair even mentioned how she had such obvious reactions... was she really like a cartoon character?

"Emi is obviously tired, we should make sure she gets a nap in!" Maybe her attempt to steer the conversation back towards Emily was a little obvious, but that was fine in her opinion. She just wanted to get Emily back to the Hufflepuff dorm so she could scamper away from Ava and never have to interact with her again. That would be a total win, she was starting to get mildly put off by Ava.

If someone like her found out about Scout's dhampirism...

They'd feel no trouble whispering all about Scout's biting habits to the entire school, would they? Or perhaps giggling about it to their friends... no that was definitely Scout's worst fear, wasn't it? After her fight with Asteria, who'd add fuel to the fire- Why was she working herself up like this? There was no reason, no point. She was just unnecessarily making herself feel worse about the situation!

She had to stop with this stupid pity party.

don't look at me; you can't understand, right? i'm just like a monstrous flower that bloomed too soon

Ava rolled her eyes at Scout but withdrew her hand from its conquest to uncover the secrets hidden. “She’s clearly hiding something, if she didn’t want anyone to know about it she should’ve found a better hiding place. One outside of the library, perhaps?” She said with a pointed glance to Emily.

Scout’s face painted a picture of nerves, a poor poker face. “You’re in on this secret, aren’t you?” Ava pouted, glancing between the two of them. “If you can’t share what you’re doing with me, you probably shouldn’t be doing it.” She mused, tilting her head and willing her eyes to see through the pages of homework as she stared intently at the pages.

After a minute she shook her head and returned her focus to Emily and Scout. “A nap somewhere other than the library.” She agreed with a gesture toward the spots of ink on Emily’s cheek from falling asleep on the untried ink of her transfiguration homework.

“Humor a girl and her curiosity?” She tried, doing her best to seem as innocent and sweet as she could. Her eyes narrowed on the girls probably looked anything but sweet. Emily and Scout has similar expressions of nerves, leading Ava to believe that there was some ‘tea’ in this secret. Ava did live for drama.

Darned Curiosity! With @Scout Fu-Hai and @Ava Winchect
Speech: #cfa120
Thoughts: Italics
Emily's fingers twitched. She was better off throwing all her papers out the window at this rate if it meant neither of them could see what she was up to. No matter how supportive Scout was, Emily always had the sinking fear she might find some of her snooping into magical beings invasive, or God forbid offensive. And Ava... Well, she was Ava. Always sticking her nose into something that didn't have her name on it. A part of her charm, maybe, but so inconvenient when it fit the right context.

Emily whined when she watched Ava's curious glance.

Dang you, Winchect...

"I-It's boring stuff! I mean..." She thought fast. "W-When was the last time you looked at someone's Transfiguration revision notes and..."

Her words died in her mouth. Ava was buying none of it. Figures. Not when she was too busy trying to sneak a peek at Emily's papers. Bless Scout for trying to cover for Emily. They say dogs are a man's best friend, but Scout was the most loyal of them all. Gryffindor ought to be proud of her.

“Humor a girl and her curiosity?”

Emily cowered a little. Ava's intrigue always seemed so dangerously endless. And here, Emily always thought she was the one who's curiosity could never be satiated, no matter where or what it was. It turns out there was Emily, and then there was Ava.

"I... Y--"

Dammit! Now Ava was trying to give her the puppy eyes! Her bag of tricks was almost as endless as her feisty self. Emily tried to avert her eyes but the damage was already done. Ava's piercing cuteness had already infested and made contact with Emily's squishy side.

And in no time flat, Emily caved in with a defeated sigh.

"Okay! Okay... Just don't judge me, alright...?"

She leaned back in her seat to let the girls take a look at her research notes. She squinted. This will be the moment where they decide Emily is brave, naïve or downright crazy.
